  1. Although i have not been out on the water at all for a fish, i am however in a rich vein of form this summer on the cricket field with the willow..... although my season has been disrupted by injury i have missed 4 games i have scored 455 runs at an average of 65, it was this season i posted my first century ( 164) and i enjoyed it that much i went out and scored 190 last weekend for good measure and then threw in a lazy 54 on saturday just for entertainment.... im hoping i can bring my good form of cricket into fishing, now i am able to go out again..... starting tomorrow, with any luck i just may bag a clifton king and have to get my name changed............ anyway if you have any interesting sports news/ brags to talk about im always willing to listen...... Ian

  5. Well folks i have been out of action for a long time due to varying circumstances, mainly work, cricket and serious injury, so when i got a day off i jumped at the chance to go fishing again. The initial plan was for myself and a mate to go down to our spot near Kiama, but we ended up with a motley crew of 5 including 2 fishing first timers... this presented a slight problem as i only had 3 rods. The signs were good early when i felt a familiar smash and heard my reel scream.... the salmon on the other end had the newbies in raptures with its leo barry leaps but unfortunately he spat the hook. After i decided a bit of coaching was on the cards and the delight on the newbies faces when they hooked up was a real highlight, and boy were they proud as punch upon landing their first fish- 1 was a small PJ shark and the other was an annoying rockfish. throughout the course of the day we came amongst more PJ Sharks and numerous other times we lost many other decent fish which i can only put down to the new hooks i had purchased, with the end nearing and no fish in the keeper net i set out to break the drought , rigging up with an old hook i cast out into my area.... minutes later ZZZZZZZZZZZZ the fish put up a good fight early which told me it was a good'un but with no leaps or bustin runs it left me wondering what it could possibly be ... seconds later i saw the flash of silver and called it for a bream, which it was and it measured a healthy 33cm , with the crew getting tired and restless i decided to call it a day even though deep down i was still itching to get back in the water, so i cleaned the fish and packed up and away we went. it was a real buzz gettin some new people into the water and of course gettin back after a long break certainly wetted my appetite, so hopefully you'll be seeing a bit more of me lately... Hope all raiders had a good holiday period, and all the best for 2007.\ Its great to be back on here! Cheers Ian
  6. someone get me some tissues and a fresh pair of undies.......
  7. Hi guys, Well looks like our report from monday has been well covered , the fishing action was rather quiet but the company was great. I was very happy with the Trev it gave some good curry on my light gear, as for the octopus it was a beast, it even tried to eat Ross' knife! I think the highlight of the day was when Ross pulled it into the boat and i almost jumped out of the boat in my haste to get away from it, i have no problem with touching fish but this thing was disgusting! Some good factors for the day were : Not working, the weather( for majority) , very smooth water, not working, the picturesque scenery, the planes, not working, the few we had , good company , not working... ok so u get the picture! Unfortnately the fishing tally come the end wasnt as high as hoped but there were so much more positives! I'd like to shootout a thanks to Rob (quinfish) Dave (inked) and Johnny ( Gio) for coming along for an enjoyable day, it was good meeting u guys ( and in Johns case seeing u again!) Now something i'd like to make very public, A HUGE THANKYOU to Ross (flightmanager), he was very polite in offering me the chance out with him and was nothing but a great bloke the whole time. Fishraider thrives on guys like Ross who are very kind to help out the up and coming blokes myself get onto the water and get into the fishing. As im sure most other deckies would agree in saying that we are very thankful for these wonderful outings , guys your dedication and generosity does not go un-noticed and i highly commend the site and its people for being friendly and champion people! THANKS AGAIN !!!!! now my conclusion.......... When is the next trip boys?
  8. joyyyysus thats massive! well done Owzat and son, once again you come up trumps! keep up good work, i'll be happy to land something 1/8 of that size later on the bay with a few raiders !

  10. well the birthday is officially today and im 22, starting to get a bit nervous now about the age though i know alot of you guys will scoff at me and tell me im crazy! Unofficially my birthday celebrations started last night at Aussie Stadium watching the Socceroo's (B team) play Kuwait in the AFC qualifier. The game itself was very entertaining in parts ( very frustrating in others) but i thought it was a great achievement for these blokes, many on international debut to step up and deliver. There was a real feel good atmosphere at the game and it was a true delight to savour so many people from different walks of life ( ie families, women, and of course our multicultural aussies) enjoying themselves and cheering as one. I never thought i would ever see the community embrace the game as it has and this is a true testament to FFA and how things have turned around since its overhaul. It was a very enjoyable night ! Did anyone else attend? and was anyone caught in the carnage of traffic around the stadium? My mate lobbed up after halftime, absolutely but he left happy! Well anyway more fun begins with lots of to come in the next few days to celebrate another Cheers guys, Ian

    Joey

No matter what level you play coming up through the ranks , if you abuse an official you will be punished for it... i know because i am a player and an official. Most people dont appreciate officials until they have been in there shoes and seen firsthand how hard it is.. In Joeys case, YES he deserves to be punished , i can see his point of view very clearly as i am an emotional athlete too but rules are rules and if they fail to punish him simply because its Joey Johns then they are setting a precedent and loophole for other players to get away with it too, or if they punish another player then they are making a contradiction of themselves. No one likes to see great players miss games but 2 things should happen here 1. Joey should realise his mistake and stop carrying on like a spoilt git 2. the judiciary should give him 1 week , enough to teach him a lesson but not so much as to spoil a teams season... And just for the record, i am NOT a knights fan
  12. hey ross, no drama's just give us a bell and we can organise it cheers

    A Bit Of Fun

a slight modification of my earlier trivia question....... " losers always whine about the one that got away, winners go home and fire up the barbie ".....( THE ROCK) pretty pathetic but i tried
  21. 2005 ( well spotted Netic) Sorry my mistake , time goes by so quickly these days its hard to keep up
  22. Being the son of British migrants i admit having a soft spot for most of their sporting teams, cricket is no exception. It is a game i have loved playing and watching all my life. I must be honest and say i took alot of satisfaction watching the Aussies finally lose a series in 2004 , however i do not hold any hope for this touring English side . The fact that in my belief the Aussies are UNBEATABLE at home and that England is SHI'TE away from home , not to mention the injury woes of England has lead me to make a bold prediction for a 4-0 whitewash in the series ( Im only giving the Poms a draw in one game because i think the weather will spoil the party....most likely in Sydney knowing my luck) Not sure how ticket sales are going but an idea crossed my mind , FR cricket fans should go out to the VB series day nighter in sydney ( either vs the poms or kiwis) Cant imagine a better way to spend a day, drinking warm beer and coming home with sunburnt knee's Cant wait for summer , bring on the warmth, bring on the bring on the beach and surfing and bring on THOSE GLORIOUS SUMMER SPECIES..... ( fingers r crossed my nickname can be changed at some point this summer )
  23. Congratulations mate Best wishes for this next step in your life! Cant wait to start my own family in a few years
  24. TRUE THAT !!!!!! couldnt of said it better
