  1. G'day raiders, Can anyone suggest where I can get some Aussie flags to put on me aerials for Australia Day. With the recent stupid comments about displaying the flag will spark problems by enticing racisim I think we should put the effort in and fly our flag and prove that we are not doing it to start trouble, but to show we are all proud of the country we live in. So if you know of a retailer anywhere in Sydney can you let me know
  2. Hey guys, My setup is very similiar to the ones shown, I got my tank off ebay for $46 it is a 60l ice box. The pickup supplies plenty of water while underway and I also installed a garden 2 way splitter which I can change the flow of the water and use it as a deck wash. In the tank I used a piece of 16mm conduit as the aerator which I drilled aseries of holes along the conduit.
  3. IFishSick. When I get home i will look for some photos of my settup and post them, they might help you if the yours is similar
  4. Guys, How far back do you set up your baits from the release clip?
  5. Hi Guys, I am just setting up a downrigger which I have just inherited, it is minus the bomb and the release clips and am trying to work out what size bomb to use and any suggestions on release clips. Do you carry two different sized bombs due to the stength of the current flow and also is the tension on the release clip adjustable to suit trolling different baits or lures. I will be using it in Jervis Bay and Pittwatter and trolling squid, yakkas, slimies and lures. I have a 525 Alum boat with a 90hp Merc which i can get a really nice slow trolling speed out of it, but your thoughts on trolling speed would be appreciated as well. Thanks Guys. Steve.
  6. Guys, I think it would be great to give or sponsors a go first to see what their service is like. They help this site out alot.
  7. Next time we go out we are taking a good rig and some big lures to see what will happen if we see one again. Fisherwoman, That might have been a once in a life time occurance and you may never have that experience again. You are so lucky to have witnessed it. Osprey Rider.
  8. Mate you can get the decals from wwwboatnames.com.au
  9. Mitch, With the dollies and lures, 2 seasons ago we were fishing the fad out of Crookhaven and I decided to try one of my Bass lures it was Pink & Black which would dive about 15foot and the Dollies went crazy, it lasted about 4 fish and then the bid got smashed off. I reckon if they are on the bite they will take anything just try different things. Cheers Osprey Rider. I can't wait.
  10. G'day Raiders, I was wandering if any one has been for a bass flick lately? Down from Windsor to Lower Portland. I noticed that the barrometer was up on the weekend and if anyone went wether they had any luck. I saw my first xmas beatle tonight so this might be a great indication that the bass season might fire up soon.
  11. I am also with cubmarine $26,000and it cost me $401without the magazine subscription
  12. Hi fellow raiders, Here's my boat, a Savage Osprey Bowrider 525. Bought it Oct '05. The wife wanted something for the kids and I wanted something for fishing and this was our comprimise. I mainly fish down the southcoast around Jervis Bay and do the family stuff around pittwater. So far my best catches in it have been Kingfish to 8.5kg at The Banks.
  13. I have a savage osprey bowrider. I use it mainly for fishing and it is great, I take it offshore with no problems, They are pretty comfortable in rough conditions aswell. Mine is a 525 with a 90 Mercury and isn't bad on fuel, They have a good finish to them with Stainless Steel rails instead of aluminium, Very tidy and strong. Nice and deep for fishing so when you do get that big one you can rest your thighs against the sides and plenty of room on the deck nice and wide.
  14. g'day guys, My wife bought me a Tiagra 50 for my birthday and I need to match a rod to it. My thoughts were a 24kg backbone or a 24kg T curve. Should i go fully rollered or just a roller tip. I know there are a good variety of rods around the $200 -$250 but its so hard to choose. Your input would be appreciated.
  15. G'day fella, There is also this site www.boatnames.com.au it is a pretty user friendly and gives you an good idea of what your stickers will look like.
  16. Bluewater, I'm not sure about using the bore water but if you get in contact with sydney water you will find that you are able to use potable water to flush your motor. I count my self very lucky, as the suburb where I live we have 2 water supplies, normal drinking water which are ruled by water restrictions and a seperate service which is recylced water and there are restrictions on this supply so we are lucky enough to wash the boat, cars, use sprinklers and so on.
  17. I haven't had a problem yet.
  18. Domza, You buy the pickup from bias and the 500GPH pump screws to the pickup. The pickup already has holes in it to screw the pump on, just smear a little sikaflex to the bottom of the pump so you get a nice seal. ie: don't tighten the screws to much as I did. The pump didn't work and I thought I was sold a faulty one, so I pulled it all apart to tack it back. What a waste of time. Once you have done that just connect the one hose to the pump which does the pick up as well.
  19. Popeyepete, Attached is a photo of the pickup and pump I set up. When you are motoring the water is forced up the pickup through the pump and into the tank, and when you stop you just switch the pump on to keep the water flowing. Make sure your outlet pipe is bigger than your inlet otherwise your tank will over flow. I installed a deck wash but you don't need to go to extent.
  20. G'day guy and gals, Below is my effort of a self installed live bait tank. Got a 60lt ice box off ebay for $46 and then bought all the bits and pieces from Bias and Bunnings. Installed a Dual hose connection which runs a deck wash and also regulates the water flow to the bait tank. Used a piece of 16mm electrical conduit for the outlet. Also glued some velcro to the bottom which grips to the carpet. All the connections are sprinkler fittings so I can quickly disconnect it a put the rear seats back in. Just installed it a few weeks ago so I haven't put it to good use yet.
  21. Netic, Talking about floating debris, last season down on the south coast we saw something white in the distance so we motored out to it and it ended up being a bucket someone must have lost overboard. We pulled out about 30 dollies just dropping pillies around it.
  22. Inhlanzi, Well done on the jewies and a extra nice flattie, pitty it swallowed the hook. Your live bait tank, do you have a photo of your settup? How many litres does it hold? and what size pump did you attach? The reason I ask is because I just set one up in my boat and mine keeps overflowing. I have a 500GPH pump attached to a pickup and the hose is 3/4 inch. The tank is 60lt which I bought of ebay it is a esky ice box I got it for $46 and the outlet is 1 inch which I thought would be big enough in diameter to keep the water level right. If any one is intersested I will take a photo of my set up tomorrow and post it in the fishing chat.
  23. Here is a good site that gives you step by step instructions on making moulds for lures and you can even buy a kit of them. www.luresonline.com.au/mouldinglures.htm
  24. I have made knife jigs before. I have run out and resorted back to buying them as I can't find time to make them and scrounging around to get enough lead.
