  4. Hi I've got a Seafarer Viking with 150hp merc, sounder/gps, lights, radio, stereo, bilge/bait pumps etc. I run it on dual battery set up, but run with a switch. Most of the time I run on one battery only, and then next trip run the other one. Have never had any power issues whatsoever. Rarely I run it on both, and I have a little voltage meter under transom to check charge status of each battery. Hope that gives you something to think about. Thanks

  6. Found this pic on my phone, reminded me I should have posted. Went for a week to the Mrs' old man's place between Xmas > New Year up at Yarrahappini (next to Stuarts point). Finally got a leave pass and bought a beachworm off the local bait man ($1 per worm, each a metre long- bargain). Took the light surf rod and wandered over the bridge next to Caravan park through to the beach (not sure the beach name- runs all the way to Nth side of river at SWR- no-one on beach but the odd 4x4 driving past). I love this sort of fishing, wild beach with no-one there. Anyhow first cast not even 5 minutes and had a great hit, after short fight it busted off. I fished another hour or so and picked up 2 thumping Bream that gave great accounts of themselves, probably covered 2-3 different gutters in that time. Got back to cleaning table and cleaned them- to my surprise the bigger one had my busted off hook in his tummy with the worm still on it! I always check the guts to see what eating, but that surprised me as I caught it probably 100m further down beach from bust off. They are close to my favourite fish off the beach, they seem to fight harder, the initial hit is full on as eating for them must be so opportune in the surf. They are just such a clean fish off the beach, and they were delicious an hour later for tea.
  7. Been good mate, nice break and plenty fishing and beach/family time. Yeah I'll get them taking livies this weekend that should sort the men from the boys out there. Hope you had a good xmas etc tight lines
  8. I agree entirely with the OP- it is unacceptable and counter productive to all those who wish to fish- no better spot to learn as a kid in the city than off our wharves. Also would like to add it is not just wharves however, Bass point is close to home for me and despite bins being provided there is always filth left, and it's very obviously from Fishos. Clean up your act and don't ruin it for the majority. My 2 bobs.
  9. Went out early yesterday to Kiama FAD. Lovely warm seas, hardly any swell or wind. Only got one decent King out there, lots of rats, ended up getting it on a pilly. Decided do a troll in, nothing about. Dragged some lures around rocks for more rats before heading to favourite flatty drift. Within half hour had a dozen good size blue spots. Dolly rats started following them up, had some fun on them before heading in. Shows you don't need to go far to get on the Dollys, I went all the way to FAD and saw none, then ended up catching them in 20m water on sand. Lots of baitfish about, should be a good couple of weeks coming up. Here's a pic of the smallest Dolly you will ever see, 20cm if that:
  10. Nice catch I passed you guys on my way back in. Few of them about ATM well done.
  11. Looks like one of the Rapala poppers, I bought a couple on weekend very similar
  12. Mr ed kingies been few recently of decent size let me know how you go. Water warm should be bills about.
  13. 15-20m deep rocky reef between sand drift half way between rocks of harbour and barrack point. No trouble finding them on sounder
  14. Started with Pillies then used Slimies as we caught them
  15. nice morning, strong current though. Managed a dozen flatties, snapper and some horse slimies.
  16. Had a paddle around the flats at Windang this morning, beautiful clean green water. Saw 2 huge crocs and a number of solid ones as well, one big girl had to be a metre. I sat over her in 2m of water and just looked in amazement at the girth on it. Eventually it moved slowly and settled again, truly the biggest flathead I've ever seen there. Couple blokes in yaks said they weren't touching anything. Plenty big ones there, and lots of baitfish should be a good summer. Will take the go pro next time.
  17. There's a couple of lovely deep holes in bay off Corlette (Salamander?) I used to fish with some success. Use your finder they're not hard to find. Best of luck lovely area to fish, if you have the right boat get offshore though you don't need go far to get good action.
  18. Plenty of Bonnies and Rat kings at Bass point on Monday.
  19. nice fish well done, I drove past you at one point there, how good was the day? Tonnes of surface fish too.
  20. Had a few too many watching the footy Friday, so didn't get out until 8.30, badly late. Put in Shellharbour ramp, got out maybe 4km got waved down by some poor bugger who had his fuel siphoned out night before and nicked. Towed him in, lost maybe an hour. Got back out, amazed at how many baitfish around and stripies/bonito/frigates jumping out after them. Couldn't get one on lures, even with 40mm halco. Found later when we jagged one the baitfish in the tummy were 20mm max length. Seals everywhere too. Eventually got a good drift and got several 50cm flatties, with a few horse jackets as well but no issue with hordes of them this trip thank god. One big bastard actually followed up a small flattie I got and was biting chunks of it under the boat. Top day, water 19.3c warmest and we only went 5-6km off maximum.

Yep takes a couple of people every year. Never ceases to amaze me how naïve some people are fishing there, backs turned to water etc.
