  1. Correct they are gooone. Stock is being offered about to any interested parties. Most of the good gear is gone from all stores (sounders etc anything high value). Lots and lots of hardware and the like. If Whitworths don't buy it all will probably go to Auction.
  2. I've fished there a couple times over the years. Tagged a Blue (not near size yours), and kept a stack of 10-20kg YFT and numerous Dollies. Love the laid back chill of the town and the big island. About due for another trip
  3. Love Kona, great town. Nothing like hooking up big gamefish within a couple km's of shore!
  4. Fantastic- what a feeling!
  5. Nice Bream and a lovely feed
  6. Low act. What size is the Evinrude and is there any unique features on the deck area to look out for?
  7. Pretty sure is just bag limit on Jackets? No shortage of the bloody things.
  8. Tony, I combined 2 recipes from Stephanie Alexander's "A Cook's Companion"- one was Rustic Fisherman Stew the other Bouillaboisse. Both have a million variations and are easy, just need good fish stock and multiple species be they few types fish, some crab, shellfish whatever. I'll take a pic and post later but if you google Mediterranean fish stew or bouillaboise you'll get a heap of choice.
  9. Seas beautiful last weekend, flattest and smoothest with the light westerly I've seen in ages. The Mrs decided she wanted to head out with myself and my mate, perfect chance for her as she gets a bit green when there's swell. Put in at Shellharbour and made the dash out to Kiama FAD. Zero bird activity on way but quick trip due to lack of swell. Had it to ourselves when we got there, 4 or 5 metre long Dollies lit up and circling the FAD we thought happy days here. Well the next half hour incredibly frustrating- was cursing I didn't grab any livies. We tried plastics, jigs, trolling, every lure in the box with no success. Started cubing a Stripey up, Dollies ignored the bait but dozens of rat Kings came out of nowhere and literally were feeding at the back of boat. Put a hook in a cube it was left alone... got some Go Pro footage of them pigging out will put up later. Still cursing the decision not to stop for livies we headed in closer and hit the usual drifts. Managed a few Snapper, Trevally, Mowies, Red Rock Cod and Grinners between us but had to keep moving as the dreaded Jackets were everywhere. Probably had only 10 minutes each spot before they showed and there were hundreds. Kept a couple for the kids to eat, when cut head off and throw overboard dozens of others would just chew the head until they were out of visibility. Water so clear we decided a quick snorkel near Harbour on way back in and got our limit of Abalone. Visibility best have had in months. That afternoon made a French Fisherman stew- mixed in all the fish types and Abalone and add fresh fish stock, tomotoes, veg, herb and saffron. Sensational dish if you've never made it and very easy too. Mrs very happy with me- I have earned a pass to go again this weekend- happy wife- happy fishing life! Cheers
  10. Lovely Bream, great beach catch
  11. That's Equinox charters boat? Got a mate who goes up there a bit and works on it.
  12. No we hadn't a suitable rig at hand. Was also getting time to turn around as we were low on juice.
  13. Lovely day again down here. Headed to a lesser frequented spot near Bass point and proceeded to try and get livies. After Sweep after Sweep finally got a little Pike. Out he went under float and was dually swallowed by lovely 80cm very fat King. Eventually got him in, now having a coldie with sashimi and we have a stack for dinner. Pix to come. 14. headed out deep, at 20km mark water was 22.5c and started to get action. Ended up dropping 3 but landing 3 stripies. Last one caught a beakie followed it up and looked straight at us, awesome sight. Got some flatties on the way back. All in all a great morning. Sent from my C625b using Tapatalk

  16. Lucky to get it off without, so dangerous rope left like that
  17. Some of the best fishing that is- beach, alveys and pillies. Pity the boot campers interrupted.
  18. Congratulations nice fish off the rocks, and also good to see someone being logical and recognising the dangers of rockfishing.
  19. Headed out early, bit lumpy but no wind. Got some stinky pike for livies and headed to our fave Kingie spot. One Pike went out under a balloon, the other free swimming over reef drop off. The one under the balloon was maybe 50m off the back of boat when it started really bobbing around all agitated, then a huge splash, reel screams, and I see the back metre or so of a shark. It took a good run before snipping though the mono trace. Then a minute later the free swimming one goes and same thing snipped off. Shattered at losing 2 fish and the fact I had no wire on board we re-rig and slow troll the livies along the coast, half hour later reel screams and I get good run. We start getting it to more open water but this time it was a King and he wrapped us up around reef. No amount of free spooling or direction changing helps, we've now lost 3 good fish. Definitely be making up some wire ones for next trip, but am encouraged the good Kings are about. We then did a bit of a drift, hit some stud slimies on the sounder so jigged up a few. Baited up and within half hour we had a few nice Snapper for dinner. Nor'easter started up so headed in, nice morning out. On another bit of news, my mate scored 3 Jewies 8-10kg last night in an hour and lost a monster one in the breakers. Lots around at the moment, usual haunts around lake and mouth. Tight lines all
