  1. Yeah I'll second the OP comments- I went out with Stewie and a few others a month or so ago chasing the Bluefin. Unfortunately only a couple boats got them that day, not for lack of trying from Mike & Dave who was deckie that day. Honestly still don't know how Mike makes a buck out of it, we did a couple hundred km's I reckon. Great boat, well kitted, quality deckie, and good skipper.
  2. Well was out last week, headed deep chasing Albies. Got none, then on way back in got these 2 Salmon on tuna lures. Couldn't believe how fat they were and I've never caught them that deep before. My mate is a Pom he had a ball never had a fight like that before, he's used to Carp lol.
  3. Great feed there, love offshore flatties. What's the fish being cleaned in background? Salmon?
  4. Took the kids out for a quick run yesterday, we hit a nice reef and got a number of fish in just half hour session. Highlight was my first Pigfish, solid fight and delicious eating, reminded me a bit of Blue Groper slightly fatty meat. Got some Abalone in the arvo so a nice entrée and dinner. Water was incredibly clean, but full of these weird polyps, not sure if anyone knows what they are? Looked like a small rectangular jellyfish with a round red embryo? Birds were feasting on them, literally millions of them out there. Also saw 2 baby whales just off Bass Point so a great day for the kids.
  5. Hey mate- well done on the Blackies they are fun to catch, but I really don't like eating anything that eats mainly weed, they always seem to carry some of the flavour. Did you scrape black gut lining off before eating? That helps. Also gut and bleed as soon as possible once landed no matter what the fish is. I'm at Barrack Heights drop me a message sometime often need a spare hand on the boat- I go out of Shellharbour.
  6. To get a Groper like that on that gear is a real achievement, well done. Damn they are a delicious fish to eat too.
  7. Great day out cheers to all, good boat and crew too will be out again with them. Not the first day to troll all day no turn a reel and won't be my last. That's fishing. Stewy I'll pm my number for possible trip next week. Check out how glassy it was at one point I'll upload pic.
  8. Please post pix or link always looking at new traps
  9. Amazing trip and catches, looks on faces tells all! Lucky lucky you great trip.
  10. Doesn't matter the size they have the best colour Jewies
  11. Sounds like a great day, love finding floaters to fish around. Well done- which day? Any pix?
  12. Great mutual post, nice dark bream there, feisty indeed. Great way to fish.
  13. Break wall casting? Great catch. Geez wish I could see more gars.
  14. Hell of a bait jig that last pic
  15. Good for babies, easy to skin/bone and just enough to make a meal from each one. I'll usually keep 3-4 each trip. Another easy way to catch is using a bait jig (Slimy-medium). Just don't leave down for too long or they'll strip half the hooks off. Hook one, bring up slow and get 4-5 every time.
  16. Great report and stoked for your uncle. Good on you, can imagine how great it was to repay the favour.
  17. Yeah beautiful to eat very white fillets. Only bugger is the head is so big you need a decent size one to get any fillets of size. I'd go so far as to say as good as Snapper to eat.
  18. Nice, that makes it all the better. Well done Jews everywhere up and down the coast atm
