  1. Nice.. was the bream caught on same set up??
  2. Lol that's funny, in the paper there was a bit of argy-bargy between RTA and Police as to who's responsible to enforce it. Turns out it's the Police so if they saw you no dramas, can't see them ever enforcing it there.
  3. Well done again. Heads up, local rag down here has been whinging about coppers not stopping people fishing off bridge so keep your eye out for them. Got me motivated I'm gonna park the boat in the middle towards bar and go try the Jewies this week.
  4. Down here they do the open sea much cleaner than the lake, though the lake way cleaner than it used to be. I just love the way they light up they look great.
  5. Took a new fishing partner out this morning for a bit of a bash, wanted him to get fish so just planned on a quick troll before settling into a good bag of Flatties. Well the first 2 hours were incredibly frustrating fishing, nothing on the troll though the tiny baitfish were still all over the place. Flatties had no chance- absolute plague of jackets everywhere. Second you hit bottom they were onto it, we tried a couple of my favourite drifts between 25 and 70m of water, same jackets everywhere. At one point I saw what I thought was a pack of Slimies on the sounder (big schools about lately) so threw out the daisy bait jig. On the drop hooked up on 5 jackets at once, when brought them up there must have been 50 others around them! Lost numerous rigs, started to think no feed tonight. Finally found a patch of quality 40-45cm blue spots and we took 10 in around 20 minutes, grin on the new blokes face priceless. Even better the Dolphins came past again, he had never seen on the water. On slow troll back in saw a 2m odd Shark just cruising, managed to stay 10m off him for a few minutes so pretty happy to watch. Not sure what sort, very shallow dorsel never got good look at his head. Highlight for me was the biggest squid I have ever seen chasing a hooked Flattie up- must have been close to 65-70cm tube. I thought at first Cuttle but nope it was Squid. We were in 65m water over sand at the time. Threw some jigs out but unfortunately I'd just thrown a handful of pillies over so he grabbed one and went. To top it off a beautiful Albatross flew straight over the boat on way home. About to eat the Flatties and contemplate what could have been a great Calamari entree... Next time I'll take cam but last few weeks down here have been gold.
  6. Great stuff, a number of good Jewies caught there past couple weeks. None on plastic though! Good on ya
  7. Well done who needs Soapies hey?
  8. Wow great catch. I saw a pig that had been filleted washed up at Barrack Point yesterday, must've been 50cm man they must pull hard the tail was so thick and solid. Well done. Did you berley?
  9. I don't believe that tale either- but Seals scare me they have such big teeth!
  10. Been a great week down here, light westerlies and no real swell since Monday. Took a mate and his kids out one day, some nice Reddies and Flatties meant the kids had fun and I spent the whole time baiting and rigging. Great day. Another day out just me and a mate- non stop Flatty action in between dodging schools of marauding Jackets. Lots of little bait fish on surface, and schools of Slimies on bottom. Got our feed in an hour and decided to follow the Dolphins that were about, jumped in for a swim with them off Bass Point. Got out pretty quickly when some Seals turned up though Headed out again this morning, was lovely until the wind picked up for the first time all week, another feed of Flatties and more Jacket snip offs. All in all a great few days, water still 20 degrees, plenty out there. Eaten Fish four nights this week, doesn't get better.
  11. Beautiful fish, great colours. Well done perfect eating size Jew.
  12. Well done, looks like Bald Face point. There and the Capt Cook bridge prob best Jew spots on the river. Bald Face has the deepest holes on river too.
  13. There's the Nav bar marker then the 4 knot sign. Unbelievable fishing there and all areas firing atm bag limit all round.. Caravan/camp parks full- hundreds will be caught tomorrow better fish the south side less crowded.
  14. Yes and no, heading south from Warrawong to Shellharbour, as you cross bridge on the left side you'll see an island with scrub on it. Take first left over bridge, left into big carpark, then you need wade over (depending on tide) to that island. Walk around it there is a Nav marker there, beautiful flats for casting plastics. Good prawning spot too. That other island you refer to not bad either- but can get crowded and under 2 foot deep at low tide (if facing North to Bowlo). Sorry the confusion.
  15. Try the flats off the little island on south side but east of bridge. Nice holes between there and main sand bar to channel, been there a fair bit lately and got fish on plastics each time. You'll also have less crowds around you. I find it best at half tide be it on way out or in, gets about thigh deep to wade out to island to get other side. It's also a great spot for Whiting.
  16. No pix, got home from work early, picked up young bloke from school and saw seas flattish off Shellharbour despite stiff westerly and swell. Got home, missus drove myself and boat to ramp. Trolled from ramp to Bass point, no hits but plenty weed so spent half time clearing lures. Swell huge from south at the point, turned back and bottom fished a reef in 13m water with chicken thighs (all I had at home) and got 2x 1kg 35cm reddies in 5 minutes. Called missus and met her at ramp. Home one hour from launch, 2 yummy fish cooked for dinner, happy days. Wish seas were flat, water temp lowest was 23.5c, should be plenty about if can get deep in next few days.
  17. lovely Bull never tire of those colours
