  1. Thanks mate, give it a try tomorrow.
  2. Nice one, going there on Wednesday so any hints on area would be appreciated. Also where did you get the nippers??
  3. Hi guy's, had a day off today & I really just wanted to get out to give the tinny a run since it hasn't touched water in 3 months. Launched the boat at 7.05am from foreshore rd ramp which at the moment is a bit of a construction zone with 1/2 the lanes closed & a large dredger working at the end on the 1st pontoon, so its very tight(must be madness on the weekend!). The north westerly was light at this stage but I didnt want to go to far as I knew it was going to blew in so went around to a little reef in frenchmans bay. Caught a couple of flatties & squire & was about to move when all of a sudden I hooked up to something that I knew wasn't a squire, as I pulled it towards the surface it didnt do a great deal then all of a sudden it launched from the water & I thought OMG this it pretty big, I wasn't sure what it was but I was hoping it was a kingie?? Anyway it took a long run back towards the bottom & my little bream outfit was screaming its head of, I pulled back some line on it then everytime I got in near the boat it would take off again. Finally I got it close enough to the boat to net & it ended up being a very nice 64cm salmon, needless to say I was stoked. Took a quick photo & sent it on its way. Pretty much after that the wind picked up to around 25kph so it was time to head in but I was happy that I had take the tinny for a run!
  4. Sure does,I have heard of sow & pigs so will give that a go for sure. Cheers.
  5. Hi all, well im a bit of a novice but love to get out there. I've only had my tinny for 10months & have only been fishing in botany bay & Georges river without to much success. I would like to get into the harbour but dont know any spots at all so without giving any family secrets away I am after some general area where I could catch the follow species- Kingies, bream, flathead, well pretty much open to anything!! I plan to put in at rose bay & was contemplating heading over to Watsons bay & maybe near the qaurantine station but will have to check the map as I think there are some sanctuaries/no go zones there? I would be greatfull for any help on spots & prefered tackle & baits. Cheers.
  6. I've recently discovered the GT knot which is brilliant for attaching to wind on leaders & for your main line nothing is stronger than an aussie plat I recon but takes mastering but easier than the biminy twist!
  7. 1 underated knot for sqivels/hooks etc is the grinner knot & only takes seconds longer then a uni!
  8. Hey Dogbox, haven't actually had the pleasure of hooking up with one yet but all the research I've done recommends fishing around the pylons of Tom ugly's on the turn of the tide & points further up river which I haven' tried yet but look for places where eddies form! Sounds like live bait is the go with squid being the preference! Good luck!!!!!!!!!1
  9. Exactly, beats sitting in traffic or at being work!! Catching a fish is a bonus!
  10. Diawa Monster mesh is a nice solid rod @ a reasonable price!!
  11. Good luck out there, wish I had a vessel that could get me amoungst the action but you will probably pass me on b/bay in my tinny having my first winter fish so I also dont know what to expect. Just being out there enjoying life is the main thing.
