  1. It could also be around the time of the annual Marlin comp to so could be why its hard to make a booking? I've watched the parade heading out from salamander a few times from the old mans balcony. Quite a sight!
  2. Nice catch So misozuke to me means miso pickle. Care to share what your cooking style is?
  3. That's the problem with fishing & camping shows. To much brand & self promotion. Oh hang on this is a fishing report, right
  4. Looks like a nice day was had out of the gong
  5. Here's lies the problem, those that have them love them, the other side that don't have them say they don't need them Ok I have had a tiller extension(commercial one) for ages & never used it so I am going to give it a go. Thing I don't like is sitting in the middle seat, away from the gear changer & kill switch. Might have to do a kill switch extension cord to my wrist//
  6. That's according to the current RMS site but are these others still in operation?
  7. Nice work, Im still to get my first kingie in the bay.
  8. True Jeff, Look at Botany Bay Ramp, it has full time Security during weekends and holidays, it works very successfully for all, surely a system like that would prove itself good for all. Hi all, I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and that Santa was good to you all. I'm a first time poster on reports, so hope I don't sound to much like a whinger but I'm an avid fan and hope to be adding more successful reports over the 2017 year and hope to get into the annual Hairtail event this year, couldn't last year because of work commitments. Took the family for a fish yesterday Thursday 29/12 and decided to launch the boat at the ramp beside the F3/M1, I've been fishing on the Hawkesbury for a few years now although still have lot to learn. Been chasing the elusive Jew for a few years now, only soapies so far biggest to date is 690mm but I keep trying. We arrived at the ramp at about 7am and was greeted by complete chaos, while the wife and the young fella went of the toilet, I readied the boat to drop in the water. I managed to get in beside a parked car and a Mobile home that had decided that the boat prep area was the best place for him to park. After backing the boat down to the ramp and launching it was now time to find a park for my car and trailer. What a wondrous adventure this was, cars were parked in the trailer parking area preventing anyone from parking a car and trailer, mostly people camping along the back tree line and of course more motor homes. Place looked more like a caravan park than a boat ramp. (I am truly surprised they haven't started charging to use the area by now) I noticed 4 people sitting in their 4wd and asked them if they could move and go round to the carpark area so that I could park my car and boat trailer as that is what the area is reserved for, I was told rather abruptly where to go. I noticed a Highway patrol car and started walking over toward him, at that point they did decided to move, and I managed to park the car and trailer. I spoke to the Highway patrol officer and was informed that the police have no jurisdiction over the carpark and they cannot tell people where they can and cannot park, and here was me thinking it was a public domain. We finally set off although, tried fishing near the oyster leases but the wind kept pushing us away so near the top of the tide we tried under the Rail Bridge, unfortunately nothing on the chew apart from undersize Bream and Tailor, still young fella got to christen his new rod and reel on some smaller fish (start out small only, way is up from there). We decided to head upstream and found a nice little beach to have a picnic and a soak in the river. After arriving back at the ramp and finally managing to get back on the jetty, we were greeted by nothing short of complete and utter chaos, there were cars parked in the prep area 2 deep, as well as special mate with his motor home, I spoke to a couple of guys waiting to launch, (they had been waiting for nearly 1/2hr to get their boat in the drink) boat owners were now having to line up beside the fish cleaning area down past the toilets so they could either launch or retrieve their boats, which in turn lead to the exit being blocked. The whole area was pretty much stuffed, more cars parked in the trailer parking area than boat trailers. I told the blokes I was talking to that I would wait til they launched before moving my car so they had somewhere to park. After a 3/4hr wait I finally managed to retrieve my boat and I had to drive up to the roundabout to clean up and get the boat ready for the road trip home. The area is shocking especially considering it is designed and laid out as a Boat ramp for boats, If the police can't do anything about it, whose job is it, are the RMS responsible for it or Council. I know the area was opened up so as to enable more boat trailer parking but all this has done is attracted more cars to the area and made it nearly impossible for boat owners. Anyway happy to report was an excellent fun, family day out fishing. Wishing everyone tight lines and a Happy New Year. I think there is security at foreshore every day. I only go fishing during the week because its a shambles on the weekends. The other option is to pick another ramp. There are more in the area!
  9. The water temperature in botany bay on Friday 30th was 24 degrees & not sure if thats why but 10 days earlier @ 20 degrees I caught 15 flathead?
  10. Started out from foreshore at 6.30am. Hit near the drums first up for a few flathead & a couple of flounder. Plenty or schools of taylor afound busting up bait fish which was a bit of fun tossing some metals amongst them. Not nuch of a breeze which meant less drift & intern less fish on this trip. Still a fun day out with a mate.
  11. A good question but not sure why you are posting this here nitro? This is the fishing report section!
  12. Thanks for your input. The thing is I do not want to add extra weight to the boat full stop which is why I am looking at this as a solution!
  13. Thanks for the reply Fab. You are correct, tiller steer. Most of the time I am on my own & most of the weight(being me at 110kg) is in the rear & all I have is a couple of tackle boxes in the middle of the boat. As mentioned I have played with the tilt but one benefit out ways the other as it is.
  14. Hi guys, I have been reading up on hydrofoils to a solution to the issue with my 13ft Quintrex tinny with 25hp mercury getting bogged down in the rear & the bow raising so far at low speeds that I cannot see where I am going. Once the boat is up on the plane it travels beautifully & turns on a dime but it currently annoys me on not only the time it takes to get to the plane but the way it travels between 4knts & 8knts. I have played with the manual trim positions & on the current setting it rides very nicely up on the plane but is I change it to get to the plane quicker my top end steering & ride is not as good. I read through this old thread which left me undecided if one benefit would out way another in performance once I am up & running? Has anything changed in 5 years? If I was to get one I would be considering this one http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mercury-Mariner-Aluminium-Outboard-Hydrofoil-Suits-25-60HP-OZHYDROFOIL-/290892731715
  15. The thing with gutters is they move & change over time. Ive only been fishi g there once & was in line with the steps from the car park. Caught a nice salmon but there was a pretty strong current. Im actually considering buying a drone for amongst other things finding gutters & fish schools from the air.
  16. I got done & nearly dragged in on that break wall by something very big when I was like 10 years old, some 38 years ago. I'm smarter & more equipped now but those opportunities are few & far between now & not really expected which is why most are on light gear. Mind you as usual with fishing its all about the right timing. At minimum its just a great place to be!
  17. Just reopening this old thread as I am in a similar position except im not tight but merely like getting away from people. Where are some good places to camp west of the bridge? Any places accessible by 4x4 that are a bit private?
  18. Thanks guys yep they are a tasty bit of fish. One day I will get lucky & be in there when the kingies are on Kaneo, yes a tinny is fine but watch the weather conditions & use the marine map for reference on sanctuaries, danger zones & exclusion zones around the port, oh & watch out for the container ships of course My tinnie is 13ft with 25hp mercury, does the job
  19. First outing for a while so it was good to get out & wet a line. Fished the incoming tide on the drift using SP's. Caught about 15 fish, all flathead & kept these for dinner. Largest went 52cm. Wind picked up around 11am so happy with the mornings catch I headed in.
  20. See temps are available at the BOM page http://www.bom.gov.au/oceanography/forecasts/idyoc14.shtml?region=14&forecast=1
  21. Sounds like a great family fun day. Im hoping I can get out there next week.
  22. Nice looking buck. Now that would be a good catch ? Theres probably more deer over at jibbon & bundeena than fish lol.
  23. Nice fishing trip boys & great memories. Some dam tasty species there
