  2. You know its all over now right?? She will want to go out every trip now & will embarace you every time you go out
  3. Very nice, I'm still waiting for my first bay kingie. Getting pretty frustrated actually. Nice looking sashimi, I have a good cured kingfish recipe if you like that sort of thing??
  4. Nice catch. Was that in the vacinity of the hole?
  5. I found the satay chicken 5" minnows have been working very well lately, I did get another one on one of the prawn gulps as well!! Havent seen any bonnies or kings around & am looking forward to them coming in!
  6. Hi fellow raiders, had a bit of a poke around the bay today. Started of inside the south head & towards the kernel wharf & must have gone through a hole packet of gulps with them being eaten by the jackets, they were everywhere Went over to frenchmans bay & they werent to bad over there. Managed to get a couple of half decent lizards before the wind got to bad.
  7. The problem with land based fishing up there(especially the south side) is the weed beds. There used to be a jetty at Salamander bay next to the resort, havent been there for ages thought. Have never tried the east part of shoal bay beach(near the point of halifax holiday park) but theres not a lot of weed there & Im going to give it a go next time im up there. Make sure you go to the info centre & get a marine parks map, fisheries dont give warnings up there if you are in a sanctuary
  8. Decided to put in at sylvania yesterday instead of foreshore rd even though the forecast wasnt suggesting strong winds but its been like that lately. Started of trying for some jews on SP around the pylons on the turn of the tide, managed to get a couple of small flatties. They seemed to like the satay chicken gulp minnows the best. NE came up pretty quickly so didnt get into the bay like I intended & just did a bit of drift fishing. We were just about to pull up stumps when all of a sudden my mate rod went of like an olympic sprinter had his bait, after a good 5 min battle on light gear & to our suprise he pulled in his first ever jew that measured a very legal 50cm. Needless to say he was stoked & I was very jelious but very happy for him.
  9. Im in the same boat, pun intended Im keen to hear some comments as well!
  10. Thanks for the heads up mate. I was wondering how the bay was going with that issue. Now just hope the kingies come in soon!
  11. Nice work, what area in the bay was the Kingie taken & what sort of SP were you using? Hope to get out wed or thurs this week, or as soon as this wind dies down!
  12. Thats almost as big as the one I caught last night, IN MY DREAMS Great fish mate
  13. Nice work, I fish there most times im in the port but never catch anything. Looks like I have to persist & burley up more! Had a good day in the port last week with a mate, we caught more than 50 fish in total, none were keepers though Still as long as im getting a bite im happy
  14. I was under the impression that they run in any month that ends in "R" is that right??
  15. Well done mate. Where were you?? Sounds like you we're off the beach say coogee maybe?? The algae mainly affects shellfish as the toxins are concentrated through their filtering systems, fish shouldn't be a problem but you would know it by now:) I'm still chasing my first legal kingie, hopefully this summer??
  16. Great idea, thanks matey. Nothing much happened out there today. Got 2 undersized duskies in 3 hours:(
  17. Nice result. Better than my 2 u/sized dusky's at botany:(
  18. Isnt that hole on the santuary zone?? I remember as a kid the next door neighbor pulled in a 5ft yellow fin tuna out of there, still have the pic somewhere.
  19. Hi guy's, sorry to hijack the thread but whats the way to catch the kingies if you dont have a down rigger?? Someone told me to troll with something like a knife jig or similar???
  20. Hi all, day starded about 7am on the frenchmans bay FAD, didnt provide much just a couple of yellow tail. While I was there I noticed a couple of whales just off molineax point, looked like a mum & calf. We went in for a closer look keeping around 300mtrs away, the mum seemed to be possibly injured?? It still managed a big tail slap from mum which was great to see, we moved on & when on the way home we say the marine research vessel going over to check them out. After frenchmans went over to fish the hot water outlet, caught 4 large occy & nothing else to speak of. Had a quick drop at the cans, nothing again. Apart from the excitement of seeing the whales it was a pretty average day! Still beats being at work Hope the fishing will picks up soon & the kingies start coming in!!
  21. Hi all, just wondering what the latest on the recent works of the ramp are?? Last time I was there 3 lanes were closed!! Have they finished the works yet??
