  1. Some deep cycle batteries are only suitable to be charged at 14.4V or less and will vary from different manufacturers. If your battery is just a conventional lead acid unit then 14.8v is fine. When recharging a battery at home, most smart chargers will charge at 14.8v
  2. How much did you save compared to buying local?
  3. Good stuff. Bet your itching to get it on the water
  4. Looking good looks like it's all coming along. You wont know your self with that 4 Stroke Zuki. Ive been looking around for a good CC around 5M preferably with a 4 stroke hanging of the back of it. Every thing I have looked at so far has been either to small, loaded with corrosion so I was starting to think maybe I could make my own
  5. Your House and Contents policy may cover the loss if it was on your property?
  6. Not aware of the full story, But a rejected claim does not have to be the end of it. Can you claim on house and contents? You can dispute the claim rejection and take it up with the insurance companies dispute resolution team. failing that there is the insurance ombudsman
  7. Yes that the trade off. Dependent upon the brand of mono, 10lb can be almost double the thickness of 4lb. If your thinking that your target species might strip 100m of line from a small reel then you would just filling your spool with majority braid and minimal backing?
  8. Ideally you should use a backing with a similar diameter to your mainline
  9. Hey Burnsie, Hows the project coming along? I am in the market for a Center Console around the 5 meter range and struggling to find some thing that suits. Thinking I may have to make my own out of a runabout..
  10. Wow thats a pretty detailed map for an App. What sort of an investment for the App? What do ya mean, while the missus watches TV? Shouldnt she be in the kitchen....?
  11. Wow, what a trip. Sounds like a similar trip to how the All 4 Adventure crew would go about it. I would be in but have already committed to being a support vehicle in the 2013 Shitbox Rally. 200 $1000 or less cars traveling from Adelaide to Freemantle via Uluru taking the rough roads. Some 4200kms minus traveling to Adelaide and the return trip from Fremantle. All to raise money for the Cancer Council Check out our Face Book page; support 11, 2013 Shitbox Rally
  12. 4.1 or larger you need the 40 as they are a little heavier with the extra support needed in comparision to a boat with alloy bench seats. My 4.5 had a 30hp motor and was a dog even with just my self in the boat. Prehaps try ti water test a few boats and make some comparisions
  13. What nav app are you runing Plumb? Amy good?
  14. Cheap degreser, only $1.50ltr. All the posts above are correct 1 way or another. Take your pick and see the results first hand. Living is learning
  15. Jetboy, Some good feedback from the guys there. Generally speaking a 40 would be more desirable then a 30, butmost boats will perform differently with different outboards fitted to them. Is there a way you can water test the same hull type with the 2 different motors? Thats the only way you will know fir sure if you are happy with your choice except to take the suck it and see option of just ordering 1 over the other with out trying. Some boats bog down with the extra weight over the transom.
  16. Some good info there! In regards to the Safari, I had a 4.5 2009 model and the hull it's self was excellent. Plenty of stability and a great lay out with the lack of the full width alloy seats. Have to agree in regards to the 30hp outboard been a little on the small side. I wouldnt consider any thing less then a 40. When looking at alloy boats with electrical assesories fitted, check ti ensure there is no corrosion from a poor install
  17. Chinese... Pretty much all other alloy boats of 4m in Australia are Australian made. The Sea Crafts are also usually sold with a Chinese motor as well. Cheap purchase price but resale could be an issue if that is of consideration. Are you working to a particular budget? 4M alloy boats depending on age and configuration could be had from $1500 to 20k. One of my main considerations when purchasing a boat is the amount of free board. Some make's an models offer considerably more then others. By going up to 4.5 meters you will gain a lot more stability, especially when 4 up.
  18. I would be doing the same, extra screen size on the sounder.
  19. On cold mornings glow the motor twice before firing it up. How long have you had tge ute for?
  20. Never heard of frozen diesel in Sydney. The stuff they sell in winter periods in Alpine areas have 20 - 40% heating oil added to the regular diesel to prevent it from freezing. Some people just add 5 kero to their fuel or use a commercial diesel anti freeze such as ice breaker. No point having the OP running in circles considering problems of which the engine is not presenting symptoms of.
  21. The issue is relating to your glow plugs. If you font have a multi meter, buy one as it will come in handy in the future and can be had from as little as $5 for a cheap and nasty unit. Do as the post above mentioned to check for power to the glow plugs whilst the key is turned to glow. If no power there work back down the line untill you find power which will highlight the fault be it a broken wire, faulty realay etc
  22. When you mention that once the motor has been runing or that as the ambiant temp increases the motor becomes easier to start does suggest that the issue is glow plug related. You sayyou replaced the glow plugs which also suggests the issue is with the associated components in the glow plug system. With these diesel engines, if there is fuel in the cylinder and tempreture to ignite the compressed fuel air mix then there is no reason why it will not run. I recall a similar issue with a 2.8 hilux we had when i use to sell cars. Use google to find out how to diagnoise if your glow plug system is functioning correctly. You will be amazed at what sort of detailed info such as this that is available on the net. I found info on how to dianose faulty abs components, idle air contyoll, cruise controll and a heap of others over the years.
  23. If you go this route ( more then likely you will ) make sure you buy some good drill bits and use a little bit of cutting fluid to reduce the friction as those old bolts are usually tuffer then nails.
  24. Gazza, when i use the forum i only ever use the " view new posts" feature. By doing so every single new post made across any area of the forum pops up in a list so you can pick and choose what you are interested in
