  1. good fish, we were up their tuesday for one landed lost three more and hooked a bully on the hardbody. howd you go gettn up those rapids, there are big boulders under that section, we usally camp across from the big eddy, flattened now. hows all the dead carp and eels?
  2. hey guys, we kept 1 fish each over the time we were fishing the rest were released. thanks for the comments. most fish are in good nic, the bass seem to me to be wild fish not soccer ball size fish like other dam fish but slender. there are a few boats going up, we thought about it but a tinny with a 15hp isnt enough against the current. yesterday the river was up a good 10ft brown and racing, there are so many trees down atm so be carefull if you go up.
  3. we fished the lower reaches of the nepean monday with water levels droping but still up a good 3m we were hoping for trout, river still up in the willows found it hard to find an area to fish, after bush bashing for a while found an area to throw a line a nice little eddy not much room between us and the casurinas but enough room for two, so bait was in order, worms and grubs the choice, we got bass, carp, and eels not the target species but still got fish, good result in the end. day two knowing from previous day we were not in the right area a bit of thought of where we had to go was in order, after looking at maps and studing the terrain we came across a spot in which we knew alot of walking was involved but should pay off for us. after arriving throwing lures and bait around for an hour i saw what i thought was a trout rise and after an hour of nothing started second guessing my self maybe was a mullet, over the next 2hours had two hook ups on trout both threw the hooks and looked like rainbows, my mate on the other hand using bait caught catfish, carp, mullet and some good bass to 55cms plus, and one baby rainbow would have been all of 25cms, all were released. third day back again different aproach caught a rainbow second cast guessed at 50cms, then mate hooks up another rainbow similar size, thats two for dinner, as day went on hooked two more on lure lost both too thrown hooks so we thought change to bait, two bass later one at 45cm and another pushin 55cm we were quietly confident. we got two brown and another two rainbows for the day so target species aquired, both species of trout in the nepean in one day very happy. fish ranged from 20cm to 50+, not the size of fish we were hoping for but still their in there. alot of follows and half harted hits, the fish are pretty banged up missing scales, sores on their heads scrapes and blood in there fins, its a big drop that wall, but didnt see any dead fish so thats a good sign. we were land based and saw a few boats heading up passed us. its the best thing thats happened to the system for a long time and hopefully produces trout for a while to come. the fish by now should be threw out most of the system so look for eddys off the main flow we tryd to avoid long straights in the river. will post pics soon.
  4. moro mou im also in the hunt for a wand, no idea what i want? spend similar money, so let me know how you go, if you dont mind, cheers daniel
  5. mate good bream, its all across the board, people stealing crabs from others you have to fish near your run if you want crab, usually we take out a pair of nips with wire and tie them closed abit more tedious but worth it? all you have to worry about are people stealing your pots.
  6. they put up a good account for themselves, abit like a 20lb carp go hard for a while then burnout.
  7. i have had little whalers bite like that, usually end up with abit of abrassion above the hooks if not bitten off, salmon is a gun bait for sharks off the beach, other thing how you described could have been tailor or a very decent bream, tailor are more rattly when biting and bream have a sharp pull more like a whack a few seconds apart normally, hope this helps?
  8. thats one of those subs you see cruisin around like its his dam, theres some good fish in there hey? thats a top effort mate, i couldnt even picture how that fight would have been as i have never used the long wand before, something i might have to get into another chapter in the book. how many times you go up there and all you see blowing into or already ontop of the water are those little bugs you described yellow underbelly/ green back? are they the gun feed or do they dodge em?
  9. seems like anytime i go for the natives of late they are in a state of hybernation, see them on the sounder work'em over pretty thorough. Good goin nice catch, alot of hours spent to get a couple of fish hey? its tough fishin the dams, but then again gettin the fish is only a bonus. well done.
  10. like everyone is sayin if your not familiar with the spot, dont go there. many a time i have had close calls on the ledge its very slippery!!! ive fished it for twenty years every time you go in you have to be alert, i have had a fall once if it werent for my backpack it would have been the last fall i would take. any one familiar with the high tide track, thats what i fell off straight on my back, iwas fortunate enough too have two mates with me, one ran back out for phone coverage to alert authorities the other stayd, tryd walkn out got 100m before i went into shock, had a shattered heel, not real good for climbing ledges and going up ropes. end result air lift RPA. it can happen to anyone, the hunt for new terrain is what drives us as fisherman you have too have your whitts about you, dont let adrenalin get in the way of your better judgement commonsense! if your not shure about it dont do it? no fish is worth it.
  11. that king looks in good condition, nice work.
  12. good feed their stormy, usually i pussyfoot for them with bread and do pretty good, ive fished weed plenty of times but like to keep options open for variety of by catch, as most of the time the walk in is a gym sesh in its self.
  13. at least u caught jew, overnighters suck wen you dont get a fish, usually i find from sunset to about 11 or so i normally get fish after that its the tired waiting game watching the sun rise and thinking man i dont want to see daylight.
  14. top effort, thats the last place youd expect a fin? wow,why couldnt they have been their 2 weeks ago, i spent 3 weeks catching poddies from the keys for jew bait at nudies, i often thought about putting one under a peice of styrene for a gh plenty in there, i call em mini macs of the keys good fun.
  15. top effort mate, when the currents pass by close to or along the rocks in come everything from tuna to marlin, time to break out lbg gear!
  16. yeah plenty of water skiers, they didnt venture up where we were. we put in at careys and hit a few tabletops on the way through to fish bidgee arm, plenty of timber around have to be carefull. a few boats out for not much more than a few yellas. good luck in the future, will be back soon waiting for the water to stablelise a bit.
  17. hey perrin80, fished pretty hard from friday arvo to sunday midday for zilch, trolled, cast even slow trolled spinner baits slow with the leccy down to 20ft, couldnt raise a scale. we used oregees, ac's,superbugs, spinnerbaits, codbusters, everything we could throw at em? went to jasper arm, sounded fish in between 20-35ft static on the bottom. a couple of half harted taps thats it? if you dont mind me asking which area did you hit?
  18. good on your son for landing that nice brown, welldone.
  19. heading to the juck tomorrow , dam has been droping fairly rapidly from reports, makes tough fishin! has anyone been to the juck lately? if so has water quality picked up a bit. thanks for any info.
  20. would like to get invoved in the bass comps how do i go about registration. mate of mine done last years abt and im thinking about going in that as well? do you go in the cod comps?
  21. good going joco, spent too many years up there decimating the carp population, thats a few decent euros there, did u get the cattie on corn or worms??? if u want to hit it up again i can tee up a trip with a mate that lives up there as well with hawksbass and we'll put a dent in the carp population, maybe hit a few good bass along the way.
  22. slimes are one of the best livies to use for kings, if your still tryn to get squid go from murrays to green patch, work the beds inbetween.
