  1. nice session wildfish. That spot is mad if u have a boat. I tried climbing down that break wall last time, i almost died. no joke.
  2. great day! hey zenman just wonder what rig, hook and bait were u using to catch yakkas? did u use a rod? I find that using handline is better than rod. Also how did u hook that old piece of whole yakka? did u fillet it? or just one hook thru the whole yakka and just chuck it down ? thanks!
  3. yeh thats what i hate so much about when governments respond to do something quickly over media hype. Very much like the p-plate restrictions. Its a quick response with no analysing over the new policies. Anyways since all that is not allowed, wat bout down rigging?? and trolling it along? If all you people is getting fed up why dont u just land base at the luna park side? i've seen these guys catch heaps of fish there. Sometimes jewies
  4. wat a nice kingie but if those guys didnt move and the line tangles i would be so pissed off. Great job on the leatherjacket too! catching them on sabiki jig is so fun.
  5. We decided to go baitfishing for yakkas today for tomoro's fishing in botany. So headed to iron cove and saw the low tide. Threw a bright color plastic around since it was murky water. Got a nice legal flattie on the drop, it was put back in. Drkcld was burleying and was trying to catch yakkas but it was too low tide. He tried using a hardbody and managed a 25cm tailor. We then tried testing out our new portable aerator but it was crap. Only $15 and it didnt pump much air out. We moved to our favourite spot in the harbour and waited until 5pm when the yakkas came. I noticed there boils around where i was fishing but too far to cast. But a few other guys at the wharf managed a few tailors on metals. Continued to baitfish for yakkas with prawns, squid, pilchards. It is best to use prawns or fresh squid because they hold better on your size 12 hook. I was using sabiki jig, i kept losing it. constantly bites for the whole 2 hours until we left. Managed 12 yakkas at the end of the day. We tried to keep it alive for as long as possible with the aerator and changing the water. Got into the car, came home and realised that 11/12 of the yakkas were dead!!!! it was only a 40min drive. probably cause of Drkcld's bad driving lol Changed the aerator quickly to my goldfish tank's one. It is much more powerful cuz it is electric. So im hoping this one last yakka will be alive tomoro morning! It is in the esky now. I even put in this chemical that "cleans dirty water for salt water tanks". And it did clean it. Anyone know a good way of keeping bait alive from the time you catch the first one till the next morning?
  6. can you actually drive into there? where do you park yakfishing?
  7. Losing a wallet is like losing everything! too bad those 16 fish of yours wasnt there on the bottom.
  8. by any chance do you know Fish_man? that spot looks awesome.
  9. the bass is sooooo nice looking, and the carp is soooo ugly compared to the bass lol
  10. wow that mullet is big! it looks like it is pregnant with alot of fish eggs in it. they sure are fun on light gear. its like a weaker version of a salmon. What kind of hook did you use? i usually use a size 6 treble with bread.
  11. wow! how fun is that! u're bait fishing and hook a salmon on a size 12 hook lol. My friend hooked a 45cm snapper on a handline with size 12 hook off a wharf! Nice work on ur downrigger, u're gonna love that new investment. Downrigger is the bomb!
  12. how does one know if a tailor was caught from that session or bought from the fish markets?
  13. sounds like u did good at clifton. it mite have been a small king or something besides a trev. Could u from their movements?
  14. lol full credit to ur shopping bag since we didnt have a net thanks!
  15. im so jealous, mario ur girlfriend is so lucky!
  16. our first live bait victim. i love the flattie its the biggest i've seen. I guess we are improving drkcld lol cant wait until we head back down there again. I have to land that king!
  17. the boat hire we hired was $65/4 hours. and $110 for 8 hours.
  18. Headed to pittwater yesterday and hired a boat there for 8 hours. Started at 7am quite late for squid as it opened at that time. So we went over to the big massive weed bed we tried to find yakkas and squid. Burleyed up with mince meat(excellent stuff) and bread but no yakkas came for my handline. So we moved spots to the moored boats. Drkcld started casting my green 2.0 squid jig around after i burleyed and lost TWO big squid! It was our first time squid jigging aswell! Drkcld kept losing the 30cm hood squids near the boat and just ink the water and disappears. This went on for an hour until he landed a tiny cuttlefish. We kept it for live bait. After i burleyed my other friend told me his handline was getting nibbles. I noticed how all the big baits on normal hooks was just getting chewed up by little things so i thought it was yakkas. I decided to handline with size 12 longshank hook with prawn or squid on it. Chucked it into 3 metres of water and the Leatherjackets was on! One after another i kept landing Leatherjackets lol all my mates didnt catch anything but me. We decided to move to another spot to tomahawk wreck. Burleyed up but was invaded by tiny small snappers. But then Drkcld hooked up something thought to be a small pinkie, but turned out to be a 30cm long Red Rock COD! Everyone was like what's that when it was on the surface, no one wanted to touch it and then we lost it on the side of the boat. I told everyone after how it tasted like lobster. There goes his dinner LOL Moved to mackeral beach and caught nothing but a small flounder. All the big baits such as prawns and pilchards and the live cuttlefish was untouched. Pittwater seems very quiet and looks like it holds no pelagics at all ! Will not be going back there until someone shows a productive report in the mean time.
  19. wat a great session! yeh last week a friend of mine went there and caught a couple of school jews. They seem to be around now. What an exciting session to watch the length increase.
  20. LOL better luck next time, yeh i would be screaming profanity out if i lost a king there in the school. Yeh the water temp is sure getting better and the harbour is firing up !
  21. LMAO! Fishing over HSC aye? well at least you didnt waste time at clifton cause u caught something at least. Good luck tomoro!
  22. lol yeh we did. I was screaming and yelling and swearing everytime we caught a fish. Especially when the kingfish came.
  23. got to harbour at 11 and fished with pillies on gangs, cubes and fillet at first. burleyed a bit, got a trevally school coming. Me and Drkcld had a double hook up. I hooked one on handline while i was targeting for yakkas, but dropped it when lifting it up and Drkcld had his fighting and landed his first trev. after that we moved over to the other side of the wharf. changed to paternoster rig instead of bottom rig. And straight away we had more bites and fish. The first hook up bent the rod tip all the way down it almost flew into the water. Drkcld was on the other side so i decided to fight the fish for him [pic soon] My first hookup VIDEO The second hook up bent the rod next to me while i was baiting up another rod. Again it was drkcld's rod so i fought this bigger model trevally. LANDING MORE TREVS VIDEO Then i started handline trying to catch some yakkas below the wharf BUT! i left it because i thought there was no fish. So i walked over to bait up another rod. My gf was sitting the closest to the UNATTENDED hand reel and then it flew into the wateR!!!! It was some big trev that loved to eat mince beef! LOL!!! Yeh then i saw my the hand reel slowly sink under water with a fish attached! My girlfriend was playing with the rod tip trying to trick me that i have a bite then all of a sudden the rod tip buckled and i thought she was doing it again but it wasn't her this time! It was something bigger so i let her fight and land her very first fish. It happened to be a 27cm snapper. Very nice first LANDING SNAPPER VIDEO After that disappointment i finally caught one yakka. Gave it to Drkcld for his 'last cast' and bottom rigged the live bait. Within 10 minutes or so The 2-4kg shimano rod buckled down sooo much i thought it was gonna fly in! This was my first time seeing such a big king fighting on 2-4kg rod! 10lb fireline 20lb mono trace. After like 1 minute of a one sided fight, the leader broke! The kingfish just kept pulling line out nearly got spooled. It should be around 70cm or so. LOST KINGIE VIDEO (warning:course language) landed: 3 x trevally 1 x snapper (released) Lost: 1 x Kingfish 2 x trevally
