  2. omg zante, very well done mate! its so hard catching kings from that location u're the 2nd guy that i found out caught a king there, i go there all the time and i neva see those old men catch any kings at all. only tailors and breams. But other day i saw a whole school of watson leaping bonitos hanging around chasing bait fish for 3 hours and wouldnt touch any of my pillies >_<. However i love that place. It produces similar to clifton at times.
  3. yeh that bridge is the best, i usually fish off the bridge with bait. such a great spot, u can catch jewies there.
  4. nice one there fishlexic. good to see you finally catch something on live yakka. Is that a kingfish u're holding? looks kinda like an amberjack
  5. however for aboriginals it is legal. I saw this aboriginal guy at iron cove, he was teaching my friend how to catch mullet the fast way. He ties 7 size 6/O hooks on one 25lb line and casts into the school and reel it in quickly. and he managed to get like 5 mullets in one go.
  6. hey guys lately i've seen a bunch of people using handlines and mincemeat(beef or pork?) mixed with flour and put it on their size 1 hooks and catching heaps of yakkas. Does anyone know how much flour to put in and is it beef or pork? Also how do u put it on the hook? I heard it comes off really easily thankz guys
  7. Weather: Morning Showers, started to clear up from 11am. Temperature:21 degrees Wind: 0-12 knots (water was very calm) Time: 6:30-11am, High tide 5:30am (fast run out tide) The early morning began with lots of rain. Headed out to Sydney harbour. We fished at Rose bay wharf for an hour to catch some yakkas under the rain with an umberalla. Burleyed with bread but only managed to hook up one yakka. >_< Went straight to the drums but no breams was there only small snappers. Then headed to clifton for nilch. caught a few pinkies once again. We tried the live bait yakka here but nothing took it. Not even at the cakes. Then headed to the cakes welcomed by heaps of fishes there but no hook up. However i did manage to get one leatherjacket. Not sure if its called chinamen. I was using paternoster rig with mullet fillet which is the best thing you can use as pilchards and prawns wasn't touched. After about 3 hours friends wanted to go home so headed back.
  8. how deep do u make the line go underwater from the float? also, if u use a smaller hook its easier for them to swallow the small hooks deep and cut off ur line very easily. Btw wat bait are u using? thankz for the advice ilk fish
  9. nice salmon there. I never heard that fishes eat their own kind? lol strange. Cuz i heard that using lures that has the same color as the fish u're targetting is more effective. or something like that. But not sure if its true though.
  10. wat a nice range of fish u have there. Must be good fighting that massive cobia. LOL how many people did u share the cobia with to eat?
  11. yeh hopefully a sign of better water quality. I wasn't that surprised wen i saw the trev cuz my friend told me there is Trevs there. i think my friend hooked up a flounder aswell on prawns but he lost it to the edge. crystalliser: lol i can never out do your pro luring skills.
  12. Headed down to HC today with a bit of drizzle at around 1pm. Fished with 2" bloodworm grub. Caught a couple of flatheads. Caught one 40cm flathead, quick snap and released it back in. Then i was working my plastic, hooked up something but wasnt pulling until i set the hook in and then it went zzzzzzzzzzzz running everywhere trying to look for a snag to cut me off. But i was guiding hte fish and letting it run. Managed to get it in and it was a nice trevally. probably about 27cm. didnt measure it
  13. you see, like i said, mullets gets attracted to reflection. Thats why they go for metals aswell. Not because they like bait fish but they like reflection
  14. For little mullets try using davy's method. what i do is i use treble hooks for those really big fat mullets(30cm+). SIze 8 treble hooks. You wrap a strip of bread around with hooks sticking out. squish it a bit so it will stay on the hook. Try not to make it too fluffy. Use light line 4lb or 6lb. Trace from float should be around 25cm. You dont want the bread to be too deep unless you want to target other fishes aswell. Usually u need one split shot. Depending on the current. If u're not using one, what i do is i reel in a bit just to make the unweighted bread float to the top and while the mullet sees that they chase it. FLOATS: what i have learnt is that mullets gets attracted to reflection. I see them attack a coke bottle. So i use a clear float. I prefer not to use bobby floats. Usually they attack my float instead of my bread lol but if you reel in a bit the bread will float right up to the surface and they'll take a bit on it. And wen you're trying to get them to come, whip ur rod a bit to make some vibration on your plastic clear float. Wen you bob the float a bit they sense it. check out my POST
  15. Welcome to the site Rhys, glad you joined! Nice report. i didnt know you can use carps as bait! lol thats so much better than just disposing them meaninglessly
  16. yeh thats the place i tried last time. We couldnt figure out how to get to the side ur daughter is on. We tried hardbodies and plastics there 2 days ago but didnt work. Ahwellz im glad u had bites. Maybe they were the bloody puffers snipping the tails off lol.
  17. wow i cant believe theres fishes there. Like everytime i go i never get anything. I fish at pier two i think. The one across from the resturant on the side.
  18. Ok started at 2:00pm. Fished till 3:30pm. I caught undersized bream and flattie. Brian Caught one baby tailor. All on prawns, plastics didnt work. Worked the bridge area and got nothing. There was alot of giant jellyfish so Brian netted one just to see it and it was damn heavy! So we released it after a quick snap.
  19. yeh i tried the 2" gulp grub in pumpkinseed, didnt work. For some reason there was no flatties around. Very weird.
  20. yeh i dont usually eat fish from dirty places. I was just hungry today. *shrug*
  21. Weather: Cloudy Temperature:25 degrees Wind: 0-12 knots Time: 9:30am-1pm, High tide 9:30am (fast run out tide) Headed down to south side of Hen and chicken loaded up with 2" bloodworm power grub. Fished for an hour with nothing only seeing mullets jumping in front of us and seeing puffers trying to eat our SP. Forgot to bring bread so no mullet fishing We headed over to another drains but nothing took my pinkie and Baby Vibes. So then moved to another spot to fish with SP and scored 2 undersized flattie and a nice 28cm Bream all on 2" bloodworm
