  1. Just got back from a few hours on the water fishing. We tried a few spots around lilli pilli baths, the boat moorings around lilli pilli, yowie bay sailing club,up past yowie bay ramp to no avail using pillys, prawns and fish strips. We had a few good hits and the usual small snapper with a couple of weired fish like some sort of wrasse and pink cod looking thing.

My son did manage a good flounder off the bottom that could of been kept but we realeased it to fight another day.

Still a few good hours of quality time with the family.

Back at the boat ramp(Grays point) there was a weirdo hanging around my car and trailer and pacing up and down the carpark puffing on a ciggie.Creep.

When he saw me he walked off into the bushes.

I checked my car/trailer and it was all good otherwise the locals would of heard the ambulance coming to pick this moron up.

I still am wondering what would have happened if i didn't return when i did.

    Cheers.

  2. Well, just got back from a night fish and pleased to report that my motor is running great with one minor hiccup. It was hard to start after stopping for an hr or so to fish.Tried no choke, choke, fast idle lever,no lever until i primed bulb and it finally started.

The second time i stopped to fish i thought I'd pump the bulb before doing anything and it fired right up at the slightest touch of the key without anything.

Im suspecting an air leak or perhaps weak fuel pump.

  3. Hi guys,i need a test prop(Wheel)to check/set timing.I know you can drive the boat hanging off the back with the timing light, but would like to have the convenience of doing it at home in a drum.

Can they be bought maybe from a dealer or be made?I suspect if you can buy them from a dealer they don't come cheap and probably not worth the investment.

My timing is set with linkages for both the timing advance at full throttle and the retarded timing at idle.

In theory once these linkages are set correct my timing should be spot on and in my case 2deg+ or - atdc and 25deg + or - btdc.

But i want to still check it with the timing light as i like to do things properly.

Ill ring dealers tomorrow and make sure im sitting down when they give me a price if they sell them.

Any ideas what to do?Just set linkages as per service manual specs and be done with it?Or buy/make test prop and check properly?

    Cheers.

  4. Rule #1 Always check your boat over before you go out.

That live bait tank not working and the tangled anchor could have been prevented at home.

Can't help on the fishing front but hopefully your luck improves next time out.

Both very talented people Donna and a credit to society. Would be really nice to have beautifully manicured lawns/gardens. Alas, the extent of my interest in gardening is green concrete. However, I have recently ventured into Cacti and Succulents in the pots which I make. Cheers, bn

Nothing wrong with the Lebanese lawn mate.I hear its beutiful sitting  on it on a 45deg summers day with cool drink in hand.?

Hello everyone, new to the forum, would just like to ask a few of the locals where to fish...

Been a while since I've gotten back into fishing since I was a young lad.

looking to wet a line over the summer, so would appreciate those in the Illawarra to suggest some spots.

Cheers all, have a good one

Im no expert fisherman or anything mate, but i use to fish lake illawarra from the shore just east of the bridge on the northern shore and up towards the mouth for flathead, bream, whiting and tailor at one time or another.

Minnamurra river produced the same results or the shoalhaven river if your keen opposite the golfcourse and all around greenwell point.

Like i said we've managed a feed as very average fisherman at one time or another from these areas.

    Cheers.

You 2 sure make the most of your time. There's nothing like a nice garden to make a home a home and swordie has certainly accomplished that.I try to keep things looking good and grow many plants but my favourites are roses, gardenias, jasmines etc.

Im forever giving stems to neighbours, family etc.The perfume sure beats anything you find at woolies, servos etc 20181028_114110.thumb.jpg.deb1402d0310a64d021b3146933a1f94.jpg

That's good work.. she's managed to get a lot of depth in that painting. Looks like a combination of brush and knife work.

That's correct. She has all her painting gear still including canvas but hasn't painted in years for various reasons.I certainly am not a good painter or drawer.

I paint. Landscapes mostly. Places I have been. Working on Lord Howe island painting at the moment - very tough.. beyond my meagre skills that's for sure.

Play the occasional computer game. Factorio is my favourite.

    Play guitar.

    Gardening.

Look at my fishing gear and the boat and lament about not getting out enough.

Think about retiring so I can do more of those things.

My mrs paints. This one above our bed is over 20yrs old now. She's a really good painter/drawer.20181102_143039.thumb.jpg.7490cea4c7bbd5daa82c9bf92ded5b75.jpg

Yep,it's only gonna get worse with population growth.personally i think we are a few billion too many on this planet  .We should of learnt a very long time ago to ease back on the babies .Human nature says we destroy until the very end for our own gain/greed.

Personally whatever happens to us we deserve it all plus some for our stupidity as we are all partaking in the destruction of this world in one way or another.

Make the Georges a 15 knot limit.

You know as well as me that no matter what they do there will be imbecilles that break the speed limits and it would be impossible to police the whole river.

This applies to the waterways and the retards we are unfortunate to come across on the roads on a daily basis.

A woman was very distraught at the fact that she had not had a date or any sex in quite some time. She was afraid she might have something wrong with her.She decided to seek the advice of the well known Chinese sex therapist, Dr. Chang.

The woman did as she was told.
Now, get down and craw reery ,reery fass to odder side of room.
Again, the woman did as she was instructed.
Dr. Chang then said " OK. now craw reery, reery fass back to me.
    So she did.
Dr. Chang shook his head slowly and said Your probrem vely bad.
You haf Ed Zachery Disease. Worse case i ever see.

    Worried, the woman asked anxiously.

    Thanks mate

Recently we started cleaning our fish during the last hour of our trip and throw the scales and guts over the side as berley.

I wish i could remove the heads and fillet the flatties but they need to remain incase you get checked by fisheries.

That makes the amount of work at home so much easier as its basically just washing down and cleaning the boat and trailer.

I must be doing it all wrong.I always put the flattys on ice in the Esky to expire  then once home just take the  fillets off them and freeze the remaining frame, head and guts thats all still intact until bin morning. No gutting or chopping the head off for me.

Well today I did a once over on the boat and wish to report that everything went A1. Even the motor started first pull with the "ears" on it. Tomorrow I'll check all the fishing gear, particularly line, knots, correct size hooks and sinkers for what should be a day one attack on the Murray Cod. The only problem may be insufficient water in the river, as there is zero % water allocation at present and the river is still low. Very little chance of rain too. Not going to stop me from fishing though, as I have a million spots to fish from the bank if the boat isn't an option. Getting excited. bn

    Good luck mate.
