  1. In the end you got a great feed.I would add net training as well as doubling the size of the net for my mate high on the to do list as missing more than twice is pretty bad.lol. Cheers.
  2. Welcome to Xmas holiday chaos. You guys have the patience of a saint. That would put me off fishing for life!!! Then again I would take one look at that and head for home real quick. Glad you got some enjoyment in the end.

    Cracked welds

Yeah all fixed. No need to apologise mate as I've been told it looks new by others also.Maybe actually using it more often would be a start.
  4. That's the issue,You at 110kg plus the weight of engine at the rear making it bum heavy. An easy experiment is add removable weight up front like filling a few water drums, containers or take a friend for a trip to sit up front to balance the boat and note the difference. Riding bow high in a tinny is unsafe in my opinion as you have a blind spot at least 20-30ft in front of you making it easy to run things over that sit low in the water especially in low visibility(Kyakers come to mind). I would look at putting extra weight up front like I said,or simply putting some sand bags up front to counter the weight that's at the back if you have some free space. Unfortunately what you are experiencing is part and parcel of owning a tiller steer tinny when boating solo unless you make adjustments. Cheers.
  5. I'm guessing it's a tiller steer?I'd be looking at moving more weight forward before putting a foil on. Can you get a tiller extension pole so your driving position is further forward?Move fuel tank/s?live bait tank?Tackle box?etc, etc forward assuming you have these things. If you have a manual tilt n trim outboard it might pay to trim the outboard in a hole or two also. Playing around with the balance of cargo, passengers and trim position on a small boat like ours does wonders to the safety and ride. Cheers.

    Cracked welds

Your friend is correct never weld over existing weld.Always grind down to base metal and weld from scratch.Mass produced items will skimp wherever the manufacturer can and welds will be one area they will skimp on.Just have a good look at any ally boat, they pretty much all do it not just quintrex. That weld cracked recently as it was not there before.I ground it out and welded it again earlier this evening and is now all good. My boat will be 6 years old in Feb and the warranty has long since expired. Thanks for trying to help out mate with this small issue. Cheers.
  7. Also if your really worried about those holes a simple propane torch and aluminium brazing rod will make short work of them followed by a quick blending job on the paint. Your already using tap plugs and rubber grommets work well also.
  8. Maybe the crook/s got a conscious and planted the stolen gear? Can't scoff at the new gear either. Happy fishing.
  9. You'd think with the coin you blokes pay for these things they'd be shipped to you as ordered and in pristine condition.I'd be ashamed of myself sending some of the things out that people receive after paying good money for them. After all the hassle and $$$$ hope she serves you well mate. Cheers .
  10. That's fantastic news Tara.Obviously the neighbour is far from being intelligent. Always good to hear when some one gets their belongings back as it doesn't happen often enough. Cheers.

    Cracked welds

That's part of the reason people suffer breakdowns or worse have accidents because they overlooked something by being in a hurry. I'm taking the cerato to determine if I add brakes to my trailer at a later date.
  12. Getting a PB with the kids as witnesses can't be beaten. Shame about the spiking spoiling it for the little one. Cheers.
  13. Nice to see that your back on the water and fishing after being raided by the scumbags Tara.

    Cracked welds

I don't know what happened but it's no big deal.I did slip on the guard climbing in in thongs(stupid idea) in the garage and grabbed that rail quite hard. All the other welds are in excellent order. And yes it's a Quintrex.
  15. Will do Tara. I know the exposed rock you mean very well, Scraping my hull years back on them was right up there with the silly things I've done. I'm also well aware at the wake those boats throw out and feel for the poor old kayakers more than me as there's a lot of selfish boaters out there from what I have seen which I'm sure the people with kayaks will agree. Im more worried about the ramp than anything at this time of year. cheers.

    Cracked welds

Just finished going over my boat for its upcoming trip to Nowra and found one of the welds starting to crack on one of the ribs that attach to the hand rail. To those guys with aluminium boats it pays to lift the floors and periodically inspect all welds carefully to catch them and repair them early. I go through my boat/trailer from top to tail before any trip to make sure things are in order. cheers.
  17. Thanks Tara,That's the name of the creek I was thinking of. Around 1996-7 I was fishing the mouth of broughton creek and hooked and landed a massive bream measuring 56cm that I released caught on a half pilly picked up of the bottom. There were a few blue noses just inside the mouth that day which I'm sure my berley got there attention. Ill try a few drifts in different places and see what results we get.
  18. Hi all,It's been a few years since we've been to Nowra and I've promised my wife to take her on a day trip to the river for a fish from our boat either before or after New Year to have a good crack at hopefully some Flatties, whiting or flounder. I can remember fishing around pig island on the drift,up the creek and in the green well point area but not much else. Can someone that's a better angler than us recommend any general areas to try and with what baits? We use to launch from the ramp beside Nowra bridge or greenwell point. Thanks for any help either here or pm,s. Cheers.
  19. Thanks Brad. How did you find changing your bearings yourself?Hopefully my post made sense. I salt/brine most of my bait and fish at night 95% of the time so high heat really isn't an issue and will give those soft ice packs a try also and see how they go. Cheers.
  20. In this small bay on the left of the #12 you shall find the baths.
  21. Totally agree mate. Thanks for the info. It's not hilarious when your the one out there with the dogs in the middle of winter while the mrs is snuggled all up in bed.
  22. I asked the question a few years ago know and was told that what your plate states(in your case 5 )is the Maximum regardless. It's like anything really you may get away with 6 on board for 99 times and the 100th time you get pulled over, checked out and you'll wish you stuck to 5. My advice would be regardless of what any of the departments tell you is to stick with 5. That way there will be no misinterpretation when the time comes to get caught with more people on board. Why risk it I say. Things may have changed since I asked the question but I doubt it. Cheers.

Cheers mate. That's what's great about this forum as there's a wealth of knowledge we can all learn something from newbie or not.
  25. When and if she does I'll just have to remind her who the boss is in this household.I'll then quietly gather my things to sleep in the shed with the dogs for a couple of days. I bet it will teach her not to mess with me. I see the same thing mate. You'd think that when the gunnels are 3 inches above the waterline common sense would send alarm bells ringing.
