  1. My first hand knowledge of this is from the 70s when it was common to anchor on the Peak and burley for yellowfin.Gamefishers soon learnt that leaving the motor in neutral created a Rapala for noahs. This style of fishing is not so common since the closer in fin disappeared. There are probably reports or articles in gamefishing literature this being a big shark trait worldwide.Cheers wizza
  2. Taking here about anchored boats where the shark mouths or bites the spinning prop. Some big boats have been shaken about at the Peak and elsewhere and alloy props wrecked.Cheers wizza
  3. Those big sharks we see or read about menacing fishos in boats offshore.Just how often is this caused by leaving the motor in neutral with the prop spinning in the current firing up the hungry inquisitive bities? Folks with smaller boats especially should be aware of this danger. Cheers wizza
  4. Great squiddos off the ocean pool rocks on dusk.First try 3 in 4 casts.Go for it wizza
  5. Fished yesterday in 55m off sydney harbour for a good feed of reds to 58 and mowies. Something grabbed a reddie 35 cm on the line off the bottom crushing it in the middle.Suspect a king as no teethmarks.Should have thought to take a photo for the livebaiters. Cheers wizza
  6. Interesting fickleness about bait.Youd think fresh squid would be the bomb . Maybe its like people getting sick of lobster.Cheers

  12. caught areddie off sydney in 50m on Friday.About 1.3kg.it noticeably did not fight much at all.Cleaning it later its stomach contained lots of smelly yellow liquid.Discarded it. the other fish caught were normal.Suspect it had swallowed asoft plastic which it could not pass or digest.Has anyone else experienced this?Cheers wizza

  17. What alucky cray.99 out of 100 fishos would have kept it to eat or give away.Apparently large numbers migrate seasonally from the deep but there are also many that stay in a given inshore area. You can catch them in Tassie on atangled mono line with fish bait in the middle between the shoreline boulders.this can be done in Wineglass Bay though unsure of legality of method. cheers wizza
  18. A lot of us are Goofy handed like Goofyfoot surfers leading with the right foot. Some say right is not correct.Cheers leftrightout.
  19. Guys the stripies wre fast moving good early season size with mostly mutton birds also the smaller tuna birds.they blew up here and there.I saw 6 or 8 come out together racing on the surface towards me at one point.looked 6 kg easy .I was returning after a bottom bash trolling a pink squid no hits.they may have been another type of tuna but probably stripies.Get out there and have acrack. cheers wizza They were a little north of the Heads mostly

    forgot the knife

going back a few years a club member launched off went wide on the comp day but forgot the knife. His bait was refrozen old trevally not a bad bait for mowies at the time and his budget was limited.Only way to bait up was to chew some off .Too far to go back. You are thinking happy ending but no luck for him in the comp that time .cheers wizza
  22. another issue is how much pollutant is in the fish flesh we eat as against in the organs,of the fish discarded on cleaning it Cheers wizza
  23. Hi MCheng years ago there was a book with the charming title SEWER SURFING AND TOXIC FISHING when outfalls were close in.They warned against eating red mowie as it had the highest takeup of pollutants . Tailor is oily and excellent cooked fresh.blue mowie makes for great fish pies.maori wrasse has the best texture for fishballs for soup.cheers wizza
