  7. Does anyone know of Alf Kurtz? there was a bronze plaque for him on Coogee Island in the 70s/80s,since washed away.

  9. Also Shoal bay wharf great for kids with plastics and squid jigs, high tide or morning/evening
  10. Endorse Rick's advice to fish on reef straight out .The big cliff face is called Baldface, great fishing 5 k's out.Sometimes groups of fish traps there to guide you.Marlin to flathead, big trags in daytime dollies on traps.Current can limit anchoring.
  11. Brilliant catch and location ,Scratchie will be pleased .
  12. the weather-wind and swell-dictates how /how fast or slow/the boat is driven.Feel nervous=slow down.A guy used to to fish the Peak in a kayak, he is still around. His extra skill was weather predicting.Always submit to the conditions, don't push your luck on the ocean. The limits of any boats is commonsense on the day. Most days no need to worry at all.Cheers..
  13. Also known as The Donut !! Welcome to the Club !!
  14. Well done, fishing and reporting. The float setup is also great for trevally burlied up with bread ,they fight well.Maybe in deeper water.Cheers
  15. A clear winner of the Eurovision Fish'n contest !!
  16. I use the caveman method of belting a Chinese chopper with a length of hardwood, works ok.Hope you check the package for the origin of the squid, all I can find lately are Product of China masquerading as USA under the well known US brand name.

  18. Noelm, they have a few bones in every skinned deboned fillet.Straight 2-3 cm bones.Hasnt anyone else noticed them?Always need to warn kids to fully chew.Have never come across a trag without these .
  19. Hemingway writing award material. We cried.Nothing to do now but find the Scotch bottle, and keep optimistic.
  20. Caught a few last week in 55m off dee why ,middle of day.you don't need to specifically angle for them, they will bite on any bait if there.Fresh slimey would be primo cut bait and pillies ok.Usually get only one or two in Sydney waters, while fishing for reddies and reefies. The only fish with bones in the flesh, but only 4 or so.Good luck.
  21. swimming off the beach one day saw a semi circle of blackfish halfway down in about 5m.8 or so fish .One looked odd- it was a calamari in the conga line.Tentacles clenched to make a head shape and stripes matching the luderick. My guess it was hunting an unsuspecting passer-by,not sure what all that impersonation was all about.
  22. Great mixed bag in optimist's Esky, well done. Will be a cracker offshore autumn.
  23. Finin,out yesterday,friday current still going north.Also caught slimies,one red spot,a few flatties and 3 trag in 60 odd metres.Only one reddie.Hope you are looking after Bob.Cheers
  24. Billmack, did you notice at the Aquarium whenever a pillie was tossed in ,nothing beat the tear arse sprint of the hungry kingie...
