  1. Where can I use this That's what I use on the wheel bearings, trailer hitch and outboard steering
  2. Huey, What's the difference? is it the heat rating? I've been using the marine grease on mine but I might be about to learn something.
  3. Hi Guys, My wife got me a Certate 2500R for xmas off ebay (fantastic reel) I'm not allowed to use it until after xmas but I can drool over it until then. The only issue I have is that all the documentation is in Japanese, I could get one of the guys from work to translate but it sounds too hard. My request is does someone out there have an english version of the schematic and manual who does not mind sending me a scanned copy? If so just PM me and I'll give you my email address. Thanks in advance. Paul
  4. Wow, Where does the catcher go or is it a mulching outboard?
  5. Thanks Dave, The straight draw bar on boat trailers had me stumped on how these things would work but your explanation makes sense now.
  6. It's Laurel and Stanley!, The fat one is saying "That's another fine mess you've got me into!"
  7. When I do the annual run I plan ahead and run the fuel down to nearly empty, that gives me another 90kg's to play with. I took my boat onto the weigh bridge fully loaded with fuel and all gear and it came out at 1,320kg the trailer is rated at 1,450kg's so with an empty tank I have about 200kg's I can put in the boat, so far I haven't come close to using that up. I balance the load between the boat and Pajero.
  8. Hey Dave, Could you post a picture of your load leveling kit attached? I've seen them on caravans but all of them have the "A" frame up to the tow ball. I was curious to see how you attach one on a boat trailer with a straight drawbar. Also what model / make is it and where did you get it from?
  9. I don't know if this helps or not but I remember on one of my older rigs something about the tacho having 2 settings depending on the size of the outboard. From what spongy has said is the tacho set to read the RPM off a larger outboard therefore he see's half the actual RPM's? Huey, can you confirm if some older tacho's have a switch or different connections for different outboard sizes or am I dreaming?
  10. I can tell you what not to do!, Don't go to the "Ultimate outdoors adventure show" at Homebush! I spent $17 for a total waste of time, you can get the same experience by visiting an ARB showroom and *****!! If you take your time and walk really slow you might be able to stretch the so called ultimate show out to 2hrs. Take my advice save your $17 and go fishing!
  11. I've steered away from these types of posts in the past but I can't resist, here is a brief marketing 101 lesson for you. 1. Always pitch your products strength 2. To deminish your products weaknesses use stats (that you choose) to give the appearance that you are superior. Let me use the market share one, note this is an example and does not relate to any outboard or manufacturer or product it's just to get people to look deeper into marketing claims. For example: I currently have 1% of the market, if I increase it to 2% claiming I now have 2% of market share dose'nt sound too good but if I say I have doubled my market share, you the consumer will think gee everyone must be buying that I guess I should too. All marketing hype, make your choice, understand what the advertising is saying stick to facts and critique the claims from all manufacturers and users. Ask yourself what is their interest in producing this data?
  12. Wow, looks great What did it actually cost you all up including frieght?
  13. What is written on those stickers on the side there?
  14. Thanks for the feedback guys. Ceph, with all that 'juice' in your boat the fish should be jumping in on their own!
  15. Ok, I've seen some threads about the Gulp Alive range it has now been out a couple of months I wanted to hear from people who have used the Gulp range and then the Gulp Alive. Have you noticed a difference? Would you recommend the Alive series? Is it worth the money(in your opinion)?
  16. Well, the one I saw was firbreglass but it 8 years old, I'd say that a new one today would be graphite or at least a blend. Try some of our site sponsors see if they can source something for you. I tried to do a search on the web for something that looks like the one I saw but no luck. The ferrule system (if I'm using the right word) is the bit used to join each section of the rod, in a telescopic rod it also holds the guides.
  17. I also used to think that telescopic rods were not serious rods until I saw one in action over the long weekend. I was on Budgewoi beach and the fellow beside me took one out, it was about 12-13 ft long had a fine taper/ fast action with plenty of power in the butt. It cast a heavy weighted pilchard a country mile. He gave me a closer look at it, it had japanese writing on it with the only english being 'Surf Power', he said his brother in law bought it from Penrith markets about 8 years ago for $40. It was fibreglass all through to the butt (no grips) had quality Fuji components and the best ferrule system for a telescopic I've ever seen. If I ever see one these rods in a shop I would buy it without hesitation, it impressed me that much.
  18. I'd go mono not braid of the rocks, better abrasion resistance.

    Downsizing

I've got a Quinnie 530 spirit wich I drive on and off, it's on a Dunbier skid trailer. You'll find that most alloy boats are on skid trailers, the platey's are on multi rollers. Have you seen the 5 meter platey Mark from Cougar craft has for sale? It's green and looks awsome, put a 90 on it and it would do everything you want. You can see a picture of it in this section under looking 5m plate.
  20. The drug runner who owned that boat had no issues with economy, he just sold more drugs!
  21. Sorry, no idea. Does it really matter? you already have the boat, I'm sure the economy will be better than you expect.
  22. Very very nice, Seafarer make some beautiful boats and the Honda 4 stroke will be very economical.
  23. Great stuff, top effort to get 12 in one session. When you say the bay you're talking about Botany Bay aren't you? I wonder how Middle Harbour is going like at the moment, may need to get out there soon.
  24. Bunnings, look in the gardening section it's just a normal tap fitting (the smaller size), you know the bit you screw on to the tap then click your hose to it.
  25. Also you will need to check if any of the wires are shielded and continue this through the join or else interference could affect performance.
