  1. Well done nice feed, I love flathead my favourite eating fish
  2. Wow, I've had the opposite experience my last car was a pajero never again it was a piece of crap in 40,000km the aircon shit itself took them 3 weeks to fix that the traction / stability control went haywire and come on while overtaking virtually stopping you in your tracks and the last straw was oil consumption of 400ml per 1000km. Mitsubishi's response (remember they claim to have the best new car warranty) was that's within our specs but seeing as you have taken it to a dealer for all services we will take it into consideration if it gets worse. I took consideration and got rid of it. So if anyone has bought a silver 2005 pajero platinum that uses oil ......sorry. I had a BMW... No problems great car, I now have a Land Rover disco 4 nearly 2 years old 35,000km not 1 issue best car I've owned so far. As for the jeeps I know 2 guys who have owned them one still has it and loves it it's a wrangler the other will curse and swear if you mention it, it was a Cherokee we (his mates) don't think it was as bad As he makes out it was, more a lazy / stupid dealer problem, took them 6 months to identify an air leak in the fuel system which would cause it to go into limp mode occasionally other than that it had no other problems.
  3. Estimates are a great thing but you can't beat the lie detector Mine is estimated at 1150 - 1200kg, I tow it with a Land Rover Discovery 4 3L diesel, with 180kw and 600nm of torque and 3500kg towing capacity I have to keep checking the rear view mirror to make sure the boat is still there You can't beat the torque of a modern diesel especially a euro designed one, the Japanese just haven't caught up yet.
  4. Hi, A mate of mine has a diesel xtrail which has towed my boat a couple of times, did it easy. But I'd check the weight of the boat mines a 5.3m quintrex, with full tank (90L) and some fishing gear it weighs 1320kg. That is weigh bridge tested, so I figure a 5.5m fiberglass must weigh a fair bit more than 80kgs than mine. What is the towing capacity of the xtrail? The diesel seems to be a good motor mostly because it's not made in Japan it is a Renault motor so has European technology.
  5. I wouldn't recommend it, I had a stacer 444 with a fuel tank in the front (mod made by the previous owner) it made the nose too heavy which made the boat want to dart left or right when going on the down side of any swell. It made it hard to trim the nose up and in some situations it felt unsafe.
  6. Thanks Guys, I have a volunteer already. Thanks to all that replied
  7. Thanks but I don't need anything fancy, it's a simple job and a carton of beer for someone who can come to my place. I guess what your'e saying is you can't weld.
  8. Hi guy's I need some help from someone that can weld. It's a very simple job no fanciness required. Task 1, I have a lock nut I need to remove from my trailer the key is burred and can no longer grip the lock nut. It is made from Chrome Vandium (same as good quality spanners) I was hoping to weld the key to the lock nut to remove it. Task 2, spot weld the 4 nuts that hold the spare wheel bracket the trailer. I live in the Hills area and there is a carton of your fav beer for your trouble I'll post a picture of the key soon regards Paul
  9. I think that hat might be a little tight, you've gone all pale and white
  10. Hi Punchn2, I don't think a permatrim would help your situation but I'm no expert. I have a permatrim on my boat, I got it to help reduce porpoising and get on the plane quicker and stay there longer. It has done that for me, I would think probably trim tabs would be more suitable for what you want to achieve.
  11. I wouldn't be supprised if that becomes a write off. There is one moral to this story... Always drive to the conditions... If you can't see, slow down and poke your head around / above the screen.
  12. It's quite simple, all inspectors will be taught to speak 'fish', then they will create a fish court (Judge Judy style) if you release a fish it can take you to court and sue you for emotional stress. This law was created by ex Mafia mobsters who still stand by their motto of leave no witnesses. There will be no more swimming with the fishes as they can't be trusted, especially the dredded 'stool pigeon fish'.
  13. Good effort Shark Bait, I had a similar result of Sat morning, took my neighbour out taught him how to fish a soft plastic. He caught 2 in the first two casts we ended up with eight from 36cm to 56cm absolute ripper of a day calm and sunny.
  14. If you take the Joban line (train) to Kita-Kashiwa, when you get off take the overpass to the road on the left of the station (from the direction you arrived). Walk along this road (following the railway line for about 400 meters) there are 2 tackle shops, one on the left and one a bit further up on the right. If you are serious about going I can email you a map.
  15. Just had another thought!! Could you move your jockey wheel closer to the hitch? this will allow the hitch to be at its lowest point with the jockey wheel all the way down. Or, if you are going to make modifications then modify your jockey wheel not the car, have someone weld the mounting plate lower so you can get the hitch down far enough so the jockey clears the ground when connected to the car.
  16. No, it wasn't a month a ago just four days. He is excited, he's allowed to have a 'new boat excitment week'. It looks very nice, enjoy
  17. A tuna of a houseboat, that's gotta be a first. The pictures look amazing might have to start planning a similar trip.
  18. I only have the problem if trying to attach the trailer when both the car and boat are on a level surface. My boat is stored in the front yard and when I back the car up to it, its rear is high (due to the slope of the yard) With this in mind, do you store the boat in the same place each time? if so you only need to make a "ramp" this could be a lump of wood the tyres sit on to lift the back end high enough to lower the trailer off the jockey wheel. You only need to use it to hook up the trailer, unhooking just rotate the jockey wheel and trailer come off.
  19. That's a massive tailor would've put on a great fight. My 'guess the spot' entry is .... it's a central coast beach between the Entrance and Budgewoi, there is only one set of tyre tracks made by the council guy emptying the bins.
  20. I have a cardboard rod tube that my G Loomis rod arrived in (from the US), you can have it if you want. It was delivered by FedEx, it's about eight foot long has a dent at one end but still has about seven and a half feet of usable tube life in it. It is the strongest cardboard tube I have ever seen the walls are about 1cm thick, my pajero could run it over and it would not alter it. send me a PM if you want it. Regards Paul.
  21. You need to take a step back and determine what are you going to use it for before you can answer which is best. For example, if you intend on fishing rivers and bays a plate would do the job but may be overkill. If you are going offshore regularly then a plate may be best. I have a pressed boat, I rarley go offshore, I use my boat about once a month therefore my boat suits my needs. What I mean by that is its cost and intended use suits me fine.
  22. Ohh I thought this was a joke like 'what time is it when an elephant sits on your fence...' The right time to buy a boat is when you find what you want at price you are happy to pay. Ps: by the way the answer to the joke is 'time to get a new fence'
  23. My wife has an 04 Rav 4 (2.4L 4cyl) I have towed my Quintrex 530 spirit with it and it had no problems, yes you need to plan for hills etc. My boat fully loaded weighs 1,300Kg's The Rav's towing capacity is 1,500kg's and 150Kg on the towball.
  24. I don't know the name of the place but there are 2 in Parramatta. They are on the corner of North Rocks road and Church street (across the road from Bunnings). If you drive by you can't miss them, one is on North Rocks road and the other is on Church street.
