  1. I bought a boat with a interphase Echo sounder on it. The owners doesn't have a manual for it and wondering if any one here does. I need help oper1ating it properly as i don't have much knowledge on them. Any help would would be appreciated Thanks
  2. Headed out on the Parramatta River at the early time of 11am. Lauching the boat a block from work we headed for the rock walls heading towards Silverwater. After a couple of casts i hooked my first bream for a while. Not a large one probably just legal, enough to put a bend in the rod. Going along the wall we get plenty of hits and strikes. After it slowed down we made our way back to the ramp and had a cast at some bridge pylons and my mate finally catches his first ever bream. It was only small but he was stoked. Attached is my first bream for the day along with my mates first bream. Cheers Randall
  3. Hey there I have done the opposite to you. I am from Coonabarabran and moved to the City. It is a great spot for cod around Tamworth, used to go there as a kid alot with my dad and pop. Never caught the size you did though Congrats
  4. I have only been the one time but i went left at the M4 and head past the narrow section with the markers. From there i headed with the eletric along the let hand side. There are a lot of trees, rocks and snaggy country to through a lure at. Mornings and Afternoons are the best. Cheers
  5. The weedless plastics really did make a difference but i didn't get a hit on them all day, not even a touch. One thing i forgot to ask was whats the go with all the gold fish in the nepean? We saw probably 10 during the day amongst the weed. I though that that was strange Cheers
  6. Hi guys After reading many reports about bass being caught i had to have a go. My flat mate and i headed down to the nepean this morning around 5.30 trying to score our first ever bass. The rivers beauty really surprised me and starting reminding me of some of the contry at home. Driving to our spot i could see bass taking insects off the surface. So we tied on our surface gear and instantly had hits. Suface lures are really addictive, every cast just waiting for it to get hit. Most fish were caught only seconds after the lure hit the water which surprised me. The fish we caught were not of any size but there were plenty of them, but it was fun catching a new species. As the sun rose our fishing slowed and only caught 1 fish on a jackell copy. I struggeled with the sub surface fishing as there was alot of weed in the river. Any tips on improving this? I could only retrieve the lure a meter or so before weed fouled my lure. It would be good to know how other guys do it. Any way my first bass expedition was very enjoyable and will be out there again for sure. Cheers Attached are some pics of our first bass.
  7. Hi guys While not really fitting into the nature theme I have some pics I have taken in Sydney One is from Botany Bay and the other was taken by some guys at work of the Parramatta River.
  8. I currently have the following setup: 1 of box with a range of jig heads, hooks ,sinkers 1 box with a range of soft plastics 1 box with a range of hard bodies Seems to do the job. Hope this helps
  9. What are these lures worth? What time do you guys open on sat? I am keen to head to the nepean for some bass.
  10. I was up there visiting mates from uni on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday last week for new years. I was in my boat trying to avoid all the boat traffic as well. Most days started at 5 and went through to 3. Mid morning is terrible with jet skis and crusiers about. Beautiful part of the world i always enjoy myself up there. Didn't have that much luck around the leases most fish were caught upstream in the dirtier water around the natural structure. Randall
  11. Hi mate were you out on sunday around lunch time? I saw a bloke catch a massive toad from a green canoe like yours. It was around the hire boat sheds as i was making my way to the leases. Anyway sounds like you had fun Randall
  12. Saqa Do you fish for kingfish under the boats as you would for bream? I would love to catch a kingfish but only having a small boat i don't go outside. I might have to make a trip to Pittwater soon. And up size on the bream stick and 1000 size reel! Randall
  13. Thanks stewy Sounds like i can take my heavy baitcaster as well! I presume summer are the best months for hunting bass? Definately a weekend away when i get my boat.
  14. Hi Raiders I am keen to go catching some big bass. Looking to go up to the hunter for some dam bass. What rods, line etc is suitable. I own a bream stick (4-8 pound) with 6 pound braid, will this cope? It would be a good excuse to buy myself a new rod and reel for xmas. Randall
  15. HI I will be attending in a boat with 2 deckies Cheers
  16. So that was you out there Sunday hey! Looked like a lot of fun. I was surprised how fast it was in the water. I was landbased with a mate. Sounds like you had a better day fishing as well.
  17. Like the other guys have said flatties are not very picky. I have had a lot of success with squidgies in the No.3 size wriggler and above espescially in the red and pink colours. I can remember one day having one hanging over the edge of the boat just drifting with the tide and me casting and retrieving the other. The one left alone caught more fish! I also find the squidgies more durable than the gulp products and can normally last a days fishing before they are ruined, while one small dirty toad can chew the tail of a gulp in a second.
  18. Try anywhere along the western side at high tide. I have had luck all around the bay at different times mainly trying to get out of the wind. I like to start at the south western end and work my way around as the tide is going out. Others probably have better advice as i only have been at it a little while
  19. I would never eat anything out of the Parramatta River if someone paid me! After working around Homebush Bay i have seen some of the crap in the river. Doesn't surprise me that the cat died!
  20. Yeah i remember you Dan. Haven't seen you out there before. Might have to give the other side a go by the looks of the flathead you caught on another post.
  21. Saturday after work headed down to the famous Hen Chicken Bay along with a mate for a quick spin in hope for some bream. Spending 2 hours we ended up with 7 flathead and one tailor. No Bream which was a shame. One flathead i caught would have to be my PB to date. I didn't have my tape measure on my which was a shame so i don't have an offical size for it but i would guess just pushing 60cm which was great fun. Attached is the pic. Any tips for more bream hookups. Current SP are 3 inch bass minnows and 3 inch gulp grubs.
  22. Just wondering if it possible to change reel seats on an existing rod? I am guessing they are pretty well glued in and could be a pain to change.
  23. Dan Any tips for chasing bass for the first time. Things like location and boat ramps or somewhere to load a canoe would be great. I was looking to start around the nepean river somewhere but being such a large river i was windering if you could narrow it down for me. As for lures i have some spinnerbaits, softplastics, and some surface lures which i think should do the trick. Any tips to point me in the right direction would be awesome. Thanks Randall
