  1. you can buy metal snaps or clips that allow you to change lures regularly. Some hinder the action of a lure a bit
  2. Hi guys headed out for my first crack at the bass of the season today. Headed out early and what a awesome day it was. The water was a little muddy still and the action was slow. Managed picking up 2 decent fish one being my PB for Bass. All bass were caught on a pumpkinseed gulp minnow grub with a spinner blade attached to the jig head. Also tried poppers, surface walkers for zilch. Maybe to early and cold still for that. Thanks Randall
  3. Probably like all types of fishing some on the first cast and sometimes not 1 fish all day. Secret is to find where the fish would be, If i know they are there almost guarantee a fish. With all things new keep practicing. You should at least feel bites every now and then
  4. Looks like its time to hit the nepean this weekend, great looking fish hope to get into them too
  5. I can agree with Netic about these rods, i own the slightly heavier 10-17lb, going to get a lot of use up north
  6. I have the sol 2500 and love it, powerful as well pulling about 7kg of drag. The sol rods are pretty pricey i think around 280-340 bucks, saw them in one shop and look the goods, nice complement to the reel.
  7. I love the daiwa baitcasters, i own the saltist HRF. Probably better for the salt use, but if your fishing in the fresh you have to check out the lite magnesium models like the fuego. The sol, alpha and pixy are also good little baitcater. Can't really go wrong with any quality daiwa gear. Never used a shimano baitcaster, if you have the cash to splurge check out the calais, i here they are awesome.
  8. Hey guys I own a CV and was looking to doing the servicing myself. Do you know where i can get services manuals or any info (handbook?) to help my out. I know a fair bit about car motors and would like to services the motor myself. Thanks
  9. I can't really tell you where I was fishing because i didn't really know. I put the boat in at Wisemans Ferry and went east about half and hour or so drive east. Was a nice muddy drop off near some mangroves.
  10. . I have one in the 2500 size, its been good to me ctaching many bream and flatties. I have though recently upgraded to Daiwa Sol. I think they are a model from England good value for money reel.
  11. I think it was about buying a new fishing rod for soft plastics, asking what the other guys thought about them. I asked plenty since too
  12. Hey There I was reading an issue of modern fishing and noticed a letter from you regarding the topic you posted about
  13. We have all Hilux's at our work site and i love them. Being from the country as well (Coonabarabran) i have driven and ridden in a few different ones and I think the Hilux is the way to go
  14. I moved to Sydney about 18 months ago for work. I was looking for fishing reports around Sydney and found this site. I picked "New at the game" as i was new to fishing in Sydney, new to online forums, and decided to switch to lures only so i was new to that also. Like some other guys have said i didn't think the user name would have been taken and I didn't really think i would be still posting and reading 18 months later. So basically pulled some name out without too much thought Thanks Randall aka new at the game.
  15. My flatmate has the Olympus and we haven't had any complaints. We have taken it under water and also to the snow. Its also shockproof which is a bonus when it is inside the boat getting bashed around. Randall
  16. I have done the same on the beaches of the Gold Coast. In the red colour.
  17. King on bread - that would have to be a first wouldn't it NATG
  18. Hey Guys I have been fishing lures in the rivers now for a year or so and i have slowly been improving. However between my mates i go fishing with i am probably the most experienced with lures (which isn't very experienced). I was wondering next time some of you guys go out, especially the bream guys if i could pssibly tag along and watch and learn from some of the more experienced guys. I have my own boat and gear, so i could follow behind or i could even take one of you guys out or vise versa. The tournament seen for bream really appeals to me but i want to be able to have confidence i could catch some bream (for some reason i am not consistant on bream) before paying entry fees and things. Let me know what you think Cheers Randall
  19. Hey Just wondering if anyone is heading out for some lure fishing today around sydney? Randall
  20. Noting can beat a spinning outfit for bream. The baitcaster i have is a saltist HRF by daiwa. It is capable of flathead, barra, bass, cod, and other sized fish. It is made for saltwater use. I love it
  21. Mine would be Daiwa Procaster Z 6'6 2-4kg with my Daiwa Sol Reel. They are a pleasure to use.
  22. I think it wouldn't have mattered if i caught it or not, i would always go out again
