  1. Is that off the rock ledge on the north end of the pool? Theres always blokes squiding there. I tried and sucked but hsve seen one bloke come in and jig up 4 25cm plus models in ten mins.
  2. Im no master but i learnt last year. Its almost as fun as getting the fish sometimes. I use the old luderick heads in my stink bag n that works well. YouTube was helpful. Ill head out this week and the luderick fishing is a bit slow atm at my usual spots.
  3. You fished the lagoon or the gutters along the beach? I go beach worming there and have caught small whiting. Its a good beach ibe if the better nirthern beaches for whiting. glad you got some bigger ones.
  4. Aftet not fishing for a few months I decided to set the alarm and actually get up. I hit bulli pools to collect weed for bait n burley then headed over to port kembla north wall. I was depth checking and knew i hit the spot with a solid down. After a very uncharacteristically soft fight i landed my first blackfish for a while. I waa getting downs straight after but not as frequently. I then saw a school of snaller blackfish taking off so maybe they decided to call it a day. I continued to fish and ended wuth a nice bream on weed. Judging by the amount of weed in its gut i reckon this was the fish responsible for quite a few of my unsuccessful downs. Anyway was worth the early start to get the rid bending again. 3 kids make it hard to negotiate fishing time.
  5. Or...throw pillies on gang hooks from stanwell pk beach. i regularly nail salmon there and its safe.
  6. Its patterson Rd you need to park on. near number 22 is where the park is.
  7. Park in the street on the right on the northern end of the bridge. there will be a park. walk throught it and down to the rock pool. The ledge will be to you right 300 meters. good weed there for blackfish. What you planning to catch?
  8. Hi guys I always used the allbright knot or whatever its called to go from braid to mono. i then tie a paternoster style loop on the end to hook my metal. makes things easier to change and has scored me tailor in the past. i want to do it properly so i can give the kings a first Crack this is summer. what does everyone else do? what works best? does anyone spin with straight mono ? how much mono do you trail after the braid? Thanks in advance and apologies for the silly questions.
  9. Was gonna go today but might wait till tues next week. was there turs arvo to look. lots of birds working the surface
  10. Crud ill be at a workshop wed. would have been good to see a pro in action. ill await your report in anticipation of a session on Thursday
  11. Stuff it im heading out next week. One fixed rod with bait and one for spinning
  12. Ill have to go for a mid week mid day flick. What was the tide doing? Were you using metals?
  13. Lots fishing at coalcliff but dont know what for or what they get. We should all hit up bass point.seeems you only get a good spot there if your in a gang.
  14. I think Krause is referring to port harbour not wollongong. Wollongong is calm on the inside but im not sure if there is alot there. Lots of squid. Outside the harbour walls is a different story and can get choppy so be careful. Could try minimurra river in the yak or parts of the lake.
  15. Black fishing on the inside is hot atm....plus you wont get wet
  16. Wrasse are good. I found the cod a bit tough but was more likely my cooking method of oven baking than anything. I did get enough meat fir the size of the fish.
  17. Great foto but would have scared the crap out of me if i was in that boat.
  18. Dunno if its the camera angle but it looks massive
  19. +1 You have another fat tarwhine! Very nice to eat and better than bream imo
  20. Ledge with the weed looks like a good spot for blackies... That sounds like fun with the salmon, funny how you still caught them despite trying not to. Ill be heading there in a few weeks when school goes back, I may have to copy your itinerary. Thanks for the report.
  21. Love the view and nice fish. Will be getting a boat this year now we have a 4x4 to tow it and jb looks like a great spot to hit.
  22. 3.5 years ago i recall getting sick of catching aussie sambos and since that day i haven't managed to get one until today. Fished 1 hr at the change of tide. I noticed that my rod kept bending but the fish would not stick. Switch to gang hooks and i got this nice 62 cm salmon. I miss the fight these guys put up and i got my 7 yr old to man the rod whilst i grabbed the fish. He thought it was great. In sambos mouth i found a set of gang hooks and some line that was evidence if a previous battle. We grilled the fish fillets in bread crumbs and it actually went down well.
  23. Wow! That would have been a great session. That one will keep you going through the quiet ones. All those fish off beach worms? Didn't know samvos ate them. Thats even better.
