  1. Thanks mate, what do you mean when you said you used to gas bomb fillets? Why can't you use plastics on them? I catch them on plastics all the time here in merimbula. Would love to get a big mornington local on one.
  2. I am heading to mexico for a friends birthday and want to squeeze a days fishing in but have no idea where to go or what to fish for with my plastics. I would love to get onto some snapper but know I am probably out of luck land based. Does anyone have any suggestions? Cheers. Luc.
  3. Nice work mate, I got mine for the first time a few days ago and they ate awesome fish to catch. What did your 2 come in at?
  4. That's a cracker. I have a soft spot for cuttles after watching one in the local aquarium for quite a while. They are fascinating creatures.
  5. Smiles all round, this great seeing them with grins that big... makes everything all worthwhile. Great work mate and sensational effort Lil Miss Scratchie.
  6. Good work krispy. They are great fish. They go hard and at that size with that leader it would have been much like fighting a GT. Congrats. Luc.
  7. It's good to have you Adrian. I think most of us are in the same boat and this place has done wonders for us all. Tis a great place to be a part of. Luc.
  8. Cheers Trev, I'm not sure I want to do that... They gave my gear a solid run for its money. I was impressed with how well it dealt with it... I put some serious bend in it. I definitely was not expecting them to go so well.
  9. Find a channel or gutter, cast as far into it as possible, retrieve as fast a you can. You should catch fish no worries. Luc.
  10. Good work Waz I think you have it together. Always good to do it again, you are doing something right. Luc
  11. I wish my misso would come out more with me... or do I? Either way you're on a good thing.
  12. I think his eyes were too big for his belly. Greedy little fellow.
  13. Symetres are good reels, you won't regret it.
  14. Cheers peter, I have a couple of those too. Might try that as well.
  15. It was great fun, it has been a while since I have had a fight like that from a fish that size... In fact it is probably the best fight I have had on a fish that size. As for the read, I like reading other folks experiences and when I get the chance to share a good fishing moment I never let it go. It seems right enjoying a moment with other like minded folk. It's just not the same with people who don't fish. They just don't get it hehe.
  16. Thanks mate, it impressed the hell out of me. Cheers Waz, I like to share the experience.
  17. Cheers Yowie. Tell me about it. I wasn't expecting drummer I was only out for a quick luderick fish. It surprised me too, they fight like king kong. I had heard they go hard but I wasn't expecting that for the size of them. I swear it pushed my 5wt to its limits. I was really thankful to the guy who netted them for me though as there is no way I could have done it by myself. I had 2 hands on the rod the whole time. I swear they fight harder than anything else of the same size, pound for pound they have to be one of the hardest fighters out there.
  18. Giggity, kind of defeats the purpose but sure, why the hell not. You still have to get it to them.
  19. Thanks mate. I got a good hearty giggle out of that then. I can just imagine that setup... I wonder if it will work for him this year. You might want to make one up for me too after last years performance. Also get yourself one (be warned they aren't cheap though) and we can have our own little comp with you, Simmo, Swordy and myself. Who can catch the biggest/most species.
  20. Cheers mate, I sure am. I have kind of a thing for it now, you might even call it a little love affair hehe. I even bought another one! I will be bringing the 9'er, I will probably be looking to hook a couple of bream and flatties on it during the day when I am not sleeping from the previous evenings shenanigans. You better dust yours off too... I will show you how to catch stuff on it .
  21. Welcome to fishraider guys, if I ever get over my nervousness for crocodile infested waters you will be the first guys I call. Luc.
  22. They are the Yamashita ones. I do believe they are $20 each.
  23. Mate for me that would be a dedicated snapper rod but it would also do really well flicking steel lures like raiders off the beach looking for salmon and tailor. Luc.
