  1. A couple of raiders have gone out recently and scored a few. Put hairtail into the search bar and you will find the reports. Luc.
  2. That is a ripper of a report! To catch a marlin in 10 metres of water is pretty unheard of. That is some insane action. I hooked up to one once off Mowarry in Eden a couple of years back in about 30 metres, I was catching stripies and one that I hooked up to suddenly had massive weight for a blistering run then was gone... I got the fish in and it was impaled with a beak mark under the hole. I am glad it didn't stay on though... it was only a 3-6kg rod and 4000 stradic. I would have been spooled in seconds hehehe. Keep up the good form mate. Luc.
  3. Great work Spotie, good to see you and the missus getting into it and grabbing some good fish. That flatty is a cracker mate and those jews look super good. A couple of well productive sessions. I hope the rod that went over was recovered. It would have been swim time for me had I have been there hehe. Well done mate. Luc.
  4. Mate for good bass in the mountains you can't go past the nepean river. There are some great fish in there. I have a friend who consistently pulls out mid 50's cm fish. If you are using bait you can't go past live yabbies, that is what he uses and gets huge bass. If using lures use small fat divers, Sammy 65, cicada buzzers and pencils. I have had results on all of those. Luc.
  5. That's a great looking fish Jani, well done on your new PB. Are zander tasty? Given you have tried some Australian fish is there any from here that you would compare the flavour to? Luc.
  6. Good form Adam, you are going great guns. Just remember that size is ok but the main thing is catching fish, if you are catching them you are doing something very right. the bigger ones will come with a bit more knowledge of the target species and location and habits of the big ones but using the exact same techniques. Well done mate. Luc.
  7. They are bloody nice fish. What kind of tuna is that? Yellowfin??? It is quite llight if so. If I were you Fab I would be howling that they are going and not taking you with them hehe. They certainly know what they are doing don't they!
  8. I have no idea on the river situation but what I can say is that it is loads of fun. What about trying some low ocean facing rock platforms... They are generally good for a few blackies, just be safe. Good luck mate and I hope you get a few. Luc.
  9. I saw some blokes from Scotland fishing from the rocks that I was heading out on a few weeks ago and they had one of those dead in a bag, they asked me what it was and I had no idea. I advised them against taking fish they didn't know home for a feed but they told me they would see how it went anyway. Now knowing what it is I have a feeling that it didn't go too well for them hehehe.
  10. They are some fine bream there. Great work on figuring out the situation and improvising on a decent bag. Also 44cm is a great size for a bream, they put up a great fight at that stage and are lots of fun. Congrats on your new PB... It is well deserved by reading your report. Luc.
  11. Mate if we had lost that game from those poor decisions I daresay half of Sydney would have rioted and that ref would have been crucified hehe.
  12. Hi Chris, the knot strength on Nanofil is fine, I haven't had an issue with it yet tying it onto my leader and one time when I did get it snagged in deep water with a steely on it took quite a bit to snap it off. It is a good line and casts a mile. As for abraision strength I haven't had it rub on rocks yet but to be honest and 6lb braid will not fare well in that situation unless it is cheap chinese stuff that has a 6lb diameter equivalent to 50lb decent braid hehe. I also have to add that I have used sunline super PE and Sunline Castawy. They both are also top quality braid. Castaway is expensive but very thin. It is IFGA rated so it breaks around its proper strain but I have caught bream on it with a 10lb line to give you an idea on how thin it is. Luc.
  13. That is some fine driving... or a little crazy. That water wouldn't have been more than a metre deep and he was hitting it at some serious speed. Cudos to him for his quick thinking and seriously good boating skills. Personally I would have just watched it burn from a distance, there is no way in Hades I could have done that.
  14. It was perhaps one of the worst performances by any referee that I have ever seen. I swear he was trying to give QLD the game. . Dead set shocker by Haines, I hope gets dropped back down to reserve grade after that poor performance... he should be ashamed of himself. Good thing there was a wall of blue to keep them out.
  15. Berkeley make a good light line that impressed me. It was called nanofil. I have it in 6lb and haven't had an issue with it yet.
  16. Looks like you have a gun snapper spot there. I am curious though how deep the reef is under the surface. The refs I find down here are nowhere near that size off the reefs but in saying that they are around 11 metres and 30-35 meters. Wouldn't mind a little tip in depths. Cheers. Luc.
  17. Mate it was in a Vietnamese restaraunt about this time of year. I can't remember the name of the restaraunt or where it was exactly but it was around Fairfield somewhere, I had beef noodle soup and I remember liking it.
  18. Holy crap balls batman! That fish is sensational especially on such light gear! I am very much speechless... All I can think of is WOW! *Stands and applauds* Luc.
  19. It all depends on the day really but I have a couple of good spots both land based and by boat if the tide is right. Believe it or not though probably the best spot is land based near a bridge in Mogareeka within about 30 metres from the shore. I have caught them there before but not on plastics... I have caught them on plastics though in other places when searching for flatties and that was on a large squidgy red rum wriggler. Thanks for the tips bud.
  20. Cheers mate, I will look into a few. Any colour preference?
  21. I am somewhat excited hehehe. If you could put me onto a bluefin like the ones Stewy and the other raiders hooked on to with you guys I am so there! Cheers for the heads up.
  22. That is a sensational effort Aero. 5 Jewies in one session is every fishos dream. What kind of plastics and what size heads were you using and what kind of retrieve. I am thinking of going for a few down here in Merimbula and every little current tip helps. I was thinking of throwing some seven inch gulps with a 1/4 and flicking around a bridge or two down here to see how I go. Thanks for any tips. Luc.
  23. Lung Fai that sounds awesome, I usually do it in the form of the original post but next time I target salmon I will definitely bring a couple home to try that. I tried Vietnamese food once when I was visiting Sydney and thought it had a very unique flavour that I was quite unaccustomed to. In saying that I found it enjoyable and look forward to giving it a try myself. Thanks for the recipe. Luc.
  24. I think someone has a few family issues that they need to sort out hehehe. There is an easy solution to that though... Don't take him out and send him the photos whilst he is at work.
