  1. i have caught more flatties with gold coloured blades than any other colour. i would be careful about buying cheapies the hooks would almost be painted on(very weak)
  2. i seem to get that reaction alot about the jacket, its seems like no one likes manly
  3. good stuff mate it always feels good when you achieve a goal
  4. i managed to get away down to moruya for a quick fish last weekend even though the weather wasn't great it was going to be my only chance for a while. we couldn't get offshore so we just decided to chuck a few lures and plastics around the river after a slow start we managed a heap of flatties alot were undersized but only just around the 32-35cm but we did managed 10 keepers that ranged from 36-45cm,but the highlight of the trip was this 60cm croc which is a pb for me by about 8cm.she was released to fight another day.
  5. sounds like a good time was had by all, i cant wait til my little one can come fishing with me,11 weeks isnt too early is it?
  6. we were using vibes and celtic spinners, good fun on light gear
  7. i went for a quick flick with a mate at lake burley griffin the other day was good fun lots of redfin a couple around the 25cm mark which is a pb for me.but heaps of little ones but the prize for the smallest went to my mate(see pic) it shows how aggresive these fish are it was the same size as the lure!
  8. i have always caught some good salmon and talior of the beach in front of coila lake there is a good gutter there. i havent been there for a while but should still produce some good fish, also just to the left of the boat ramp there is a little rocky point, good luck mate its a nice little place to go for a holiday.
  9. very cool video mate and as far as the release goes......it happens to the best of us
  10. i will do a report after next trip,im more than willing to swap some info,i was getting down there every couple of weeks at one stage but at the moment my missus is heavily pregant(should pop anyday now) so its a bit hard to get away. not sure where abouts we were fishing,my mate has just bought a new boat so we a kinda new to fishing deeper waters,we have usually just gone straight out from the heads and drift around til we find something on the sounder. as i said no kingies but have got a few snapper, mowies and plenty of flatties
  11. i was there a couple of weeks ago and a very similar story,we had heaps of live yakkas and whlist berleying up we had thousands of pilchard size slimeys around the boat for ages, but no kingies! we too decided to get a few flatties at the back of the beach and called it a day. hopefully i will get another chance over christmas to finally get a kingy

  20. cheers mate yeah 62cm not huge but still not a bad first one my mates ones was 65 and 70. they didnt put up huge fight and the guide said that was due to the cold water, the tarpon was the most fun i have ever had on light gear so far
  21. a mate and i went for a holiday up to port douglas, our girlfriends came aswell so it wasnt all fishing. we had a couple of days booked on a boat to go out and chase GTs but the wind put a end to those plans. but we still managed a few days on the mossman river. i got one good barra on live bait which was great,a big tick of the wish list,my mate was able to land two great barras, we also caught a few other species like small queenies, small fingermarks and small cods(spot the theme) and we came across a school of tarpons which was great fun on light gear lots of huge leaps from the water they pretty much smashed anything we put in front of them.but they were hard to land but you would drop one then another one would grab the lure or soft plastic one even jumped in to the boat from about a metre away. we also spent a couple of nights fishing in the harbour at port douglas which only really resulted in more small fish besides the barra i lost right near the shore but overall a good trip spotted a few crocs around the place and the weather was good besides the wind but it was good to get away from the cold here in canberra.
