  1. Hi! Today when I went to the boat shop I was just looking at boat gauges and as I looked at the packaging it had a sticker saying that: "This product contains a chemical that is known to cause cancer in america" Is that on all gauges or just analog ones? How would it cause cancer? Just curious. I doubt it's something serious. Otherwise I am changing my gauges!
  2. I just realised why I thought the bottom blade was a negative. The 12v socket I have in the switch panel, the bottom blade is hooked straight to the negative bus. Is that correct? I'm assuming it is because it works!
  3. Ohhhhhh I got it now, thanks heaps guys
  4. Hi Guys, I normally do electrical work on my boats and cars so I am familiar with a few things. I never get stuck when i do things myself only when others have done the wiring. I'm stuck on this. I have a 6 gang switch panel. Pic attached. At the back on each switch there are two connectors. Top positive, bottom negative. On all the top connectors, they are connected to the fuse. And it's only the bottom that are free. And they seem to be running the negative cable only. Where is the positive cable going? There is only one switch that is not wired at the moment and that is the one I want to use. I'm not sure where to run the positive cable to?
  5. I am happy to go to taren point if it's good work! I did all the electrics on my boat so I am happy I saved some coin there, but glassing is something I rather not do. Coz if I stuff up, I will hate myself haha!
  6. Hi guys, I am looking for a good fibreglass guy to work on my boat in the future. I want to get a few things fixed, and if I get a new sounder want the old holes patched up like it was never there before. And if I get a new engine, I want the dash to look like it has never had a gauge before. Is that possible? Anyone you would recommend?
  7. Was out at the HB river the other night and I'm sure I got done by a jew two times. Then I looked at my hooks and realised it was quite small haha. What size hook do you need? Think I was just using a 2/0!

    Upgrade time

I had a 4.1 and been to Sow and Pigs. I wouldbn't take more than two people in it. Gets rocky with all the ferry's too. I would go at least 4.5! Because in my 4.1 kept swearing every time i had to move or grab the net. Was doing gymnastics just to get around!
  9. Thanks for all your replies! Pathfinder does have a clutch problem. Believe its because most people ride them when they take off. The car almost stalls unless you perfected your take off. Forester. Well im sure it had no problems but i have heard a couple times now about the towing. Its not the best whether its the rev range, the gears not engaging properly etc. I will look into the pajero. As for towing. Currently tow in a vy wagon. No issues but its not my car. So i always borrow it. Is it better having an auto for towing?
  10. Awesome guys, just got a key done. Hope it all works with the code!
  11. Hey Guys, Just have a couple more questions. While looking around at the $30k mark. There is the Subaru Forester Diesel and the Nissan Pathfinder Diesel available around the same price. Do any of you guys own and tow with any of these? Just want to see if there are any problems? Thank you
  12. Was a beautiful weekend so decided to take my family out on the boat. Since I am always fishing, I never take them. Decided to take them to Wangi Wangi. Love that place. I put the boat in and made my mother and sister hold the boat for half an hour while I went to change the rollers on my trailer. Only got 3 done and started to feel bad so made my way back. My sister was impatient haha, just wanted to get in the boat so I decided to hold the boat and they went in. My father then arrived. We all set up to the channel at swansea and we all caught fish. Was exciting for them as they have never fished before. Landed few bream and tailor giving acrobatic displays! Then I feel something in my pocket. Mind you I have been in the water casting of the bank. My car key. I knew it was gone. Get back to the ramp at 9 go to open my car and of course the alarm goes off. But I thought once I turn the key and start the car it will turn off. Like previously. But of course it won't coz the chip in the key is dead and the car doesn't recognise it. Anyway to cut the story short. I only have that one key. The car is still stuck in Wangi Wangi and needs to get towed to holden which is about 30km! It's actually my fathers car. So he is trying to sort that out today. I feel bad! But at least they had a good trip! Got home 3am haha
  13. I know this doesn't help much. But I always buy the biggest and deep cycle. I always buy century batteries too. Never let me down.
  14. Hey Huey, I have spoken to a couple of mercury dealers about this and no one has given me a definitive answer like you. The best answer I got was "you will be surprised". Well how am I going to be surprised? Is it going to be less powerful or will it be better!! I just wish you could test drive outboards! So you don't think it will perform better? I don't think it would because of the displacement and being four cylinders as opposed to a bigger block and 6 cylinders!
  15. Yea windsor river has a lot of banks like that along the way
  16. Hey mate! I am in a similar boat as you. Or was. I have a 140HP 2 stroke v6 saltwater series. My boat reaches 60MPH it. Nearly 100km/h! Love it! But at the same time I hate the motor, it's so noisy. So I was thinking of re-powering and getting the new 150 HP four stroke. But I don't want to get it if I won't have the torque or the top speed of my current motor! So please keep updating us, I really want to know more about it!
  17. Don't know where you are but you can try Windsor. Nice drive, nice town and good ramp!
  18. I didn't know they were bought by FIAT! I'm personally not a fan of European technology. It always seems to fail. BMW, Benz. I've had them all and always had issues. With my jap cars I have never had a problem. Where are these Jeeps made?
  19. I think the other car I would consider is the Mitsubishi Challenger. The reason why I fell in love with the GC was the sunroof haha! But it also has a sleek look to it!
  20. Nissan can tow 2000kgs! Can't believe your boat weighs that much. Mine is meant to weight 1200 Kgs all up! Maybe I should get it weighed. Where do you go to do that?
  21. Thanks guys for all your replies. I go everywhere with my boat. At the moment i use a holden wagon but its not my car. I was thinking about the xtrail petrol but i think i should look for a diesel option
  22. Damn. Need more good stories haha
  23. So after speaking to a trailer mechanic atthe boat show i was convinced the hub is the issue. So i am replacing both hubs. By the looks of it, think they are the original 2005 ones. So i dont mind spending money on them. Im planning on getting the timken bearing and stainless steel bearing buddies and hope all works well this time And i wont pump too much grease this time either! Not until it squirts out like they tell you too!
