  1. That sounds promising. Well like the review said, it doesnt have a good reliability record. Maybe the challenger is a better option. Thanks for the info
  2. Hey mate. Check your 7 pin plug. Grab the one that doesnt work and wire it to the plug that works and see if it lights up. If it does change the plug. Its easy to do. Could be the plug on your trailer or on the car. They are only $7 a plug. If that doesnt solve it buy some LEDs. They are pretty good. Get it over and done with and say bye bye to changing light bulbs.
  3. Hi, Does anyone own a nissan xtrail and tow a large boat? This is one of the other cars i am interested in to save some money. I have a 5.5m glass boat and the specssay it weighs 1200kgs all up. So roughly 1400 with fuel etc. I just want to know how it would handle towing a large boat. Will it have enough power up a hill? Im referring to the petrol version. The diesel is another $8k so for that i think i would go the mitsubishi challenger. Thanks guys.
  4. Hi, I really like the new Jeep GC. But in a magazine it said jeep did not have a good reliability record. Who has one? And what do you think of the above statement? I would get the new 3.0l diesel.
  5. I knlw what you mean. My friend and I were at the ramp. I told him i re did my whole trailer but he didnt think the boat will slide that quickly. At the ramp he un hooked me and the boat just went sliding down fast! Didnt have to reerse and brake.
  6. Which ones are the Jap bearings?
  7. Where are Timken made? Are they CHina? Because they are totally against cheap bearings! It's on their website.
  8. Hi Guys, What is a good brand of bearings to purchase? And where from? Thank you!
  9. This is getting interesting! Ok, which are the original american ones? It's funny how you say pumping grease makes the back seal blow out. Which I believe it. Makes sense, it's just weird because in the packaging it tells you to pump grease until it spills out. Would it just be best to put a little bit of grease only every now and then? Question: Could it be my bearings are wearing out and that the will is getting hot and expanding therefore my bearing buddy falling out?
  10. Mine is stainless, thanks for the tip though
  11. Awesome! Thanks mate
  12. I love having a clean boat, but every time I went to clean it, I blew up a vacuum. I finally bought a wet and dry one today, wish I bought one earlier! So happy with it, just got a 1000W/15L one for $100 and does the job perfectly.
  13. Would this be the right one? http://www.loctite.com.au/cps/rde/xchg/henkel_aue/hs.xsl/retaining-4052.htm
  14. I might try this option. The Loc Tite. Is there a particular one I have to buy?
  15. Hi guys! I noticed the other day my bearing buddy fell off. Without too much thought I replaced it. Two days later it fell off. Tried one more time, didn't last a day. When I put them in, they are tightly fit. There is no movement yet when I drive they seem to fall off. I never placed the original ones. My friend seems to think the problem is with the hub. So before I go and replace both hubs and bearings, any ideas why this is happening? Thanks
  16. I didn't have much luck the other day either! Time to find some new waters!
  17. Mate and I headed out to West Reef on Saturday morning. Not a bite. We then moved into Pittwater hoping to get a king. Nothing. Moved around Scotland Island and we caught two Hammer Head sharks. Went to the railway bridge. Nothing. I was really disappointed! Just wondering how everyone else went? It's never been that quite!
  18. Hi Mate, I can't see how the RPM gauge will tell you how many hours your motor has. I could be wrong though. But sounds odd to me.
  19. Does squid ink stain the boat? My friend cut up a squid and the ink went everywhere. I washed it all off but there were a few spots I either missed or there were stains there before. Not sure. So I am wondering if the ink can stain a fibreglass boat? If so, what is the best way to remove them? Thanks!
  20. Hi guys, What is the best way to remove dirt marks off a fibreglass boat? I was using eucalyptus oil last night and worked well but got paranoid i might damage the coat on it. Car wax and polish ok?
  21. I had a 4.1 I was told by maritime the Open waters begins once you pass Box Head and Barrenjoey. So fishing in Pittwater and crossing through, you will be fine.
  22. Thanks for the replies guys and no answer is too long =) I guess I will try the method where I leave the boat in forward gear as I go to tie up the winch. And vice versa when taking it off the trailer. It's just a matter of finding the right revs to hold the boat in position I guess? Does it normally take a bit of effort or is it just a matter of touching the throttle into forward position? Might have to take a day off to try this when the ramps are empty
