  2. Great report Some quality fish there Keep it up
  3. Hi Raiders, I hadn't been Kayak fishing in a long time, so decided to dust off the kayaks and head to the central coast. With uni starting again, it is hard to find the time to fish, so any chance i have to get out is cherished and enjoyed. Left the house after the morning traffic had subsided a bit and made the journey to central coast. Got there and started setting up and rigging up. I was using a mix of baits and plastics to target some flatties. I used either squid or pillies on a paternoster rig and also worked some squidgy bloodworm wrigglers and some berkley gulps. I drifted over an area that I have caught flathead from before, fished for about 2.5 hours and mainly caught undersized ones. By the end of the session managed 2 legal Flathead both going 40cm. One was caught on a half pillie and the other on the bloodworm wriggler. Not as productive as some of the other trips but still managed a feed. And it was just nice being out on the water, I love boat fishing and land based fishing but sometimes kayak fishing can be the most enjoyable. Its just a different feeling being so close to the water. I did record the trip and edited a little video, so I hope you guys enjoy it. Haven't edited in a while so I am a bit rusty. Cheers

    New Boat

Congratulations on the new boat. Now next job is to catch some fish. Would love to see a picture of your boat
  6. Great report Jim Always love reading them
  7. Great report, thanks for sharing Don't think port jackson sharks are great in terms of eating, i've been told you can barely get any meat off them. The drummer is very healthy, well done I think you should write up to the council voicing your concerns, the more people that make a statement, the more likely they are to implementing a change.
  8. Thanks for the 2nd report, Top effort as usual. At least you got a workout with the long paddle. I wouldn't mind joining you on a kayak hair tail voyage one day
  9. Its always going to be japanese engine for me Both have their pros and cons Although i prefer 4 strokes, there quieter, less fumes, less vibrations and pleasant to drive with. I would prefer better holeshot with a 2 stroke but for me, overall 4 strokes suit me better. You have to know what your intended purpose for the boat is and choose a motor based on that
  10. Nice work mate That is gonna taste amazing for sure
  11. Well done pod trailer That is an awesome kayak set up
  12. A lot of the central coast beaches are fishing pretty well for salmon at the moment. Fish the high tide which coincides with a sunset or sunrise, use some ganged pillies
  13. I think he means during a silent flush the motor is not on, hence cold water cannot be warmed to break down the salt. And thats why he recommended using warm water. But during a full flush, the motor is on and running, thus you can use cold water because the engine will warm up the water.
  14. Great report Jim, I've never fished colours but keen to give it a try next time
  15. Top effort I would love to give fly fishing a go
  16. Great report mate. A feed of flathead is awesome
  17. Unlucky on the kings mate But a 50cm snapper is still pretty good. Hopefully you get the kingies soon
  18. Yeah there is alot of salmon about at the moment Yep, he is definetly hooked and asking me to take him out again
  19. Thanks mate Thanks mate, he was stoked. He usually catches small fish like yakka and bream. This was his first big fish
  20. Headed off to central coast the other day armed with some pillies and squid. Was fishing with a mate who had never been beach fishing, so the goal was for him to catch a fish. Conditions were forecasted to be pretty ideal for fishing. Headed to my usual beach, got there at 7pm. Managed to find a gutter. Rigged up and casted out. Conditions were not the best here with a lot of side current, making it impossible to hold the bait. After about 20 mins and we decided to move to a more sheltered beach about 15 mins away. Got there and conditions were alot better here. Casted out and after 5 mins, hooked up but the fish spat the hooks. Rebaited and almost instantly hooked up, gave the rod to my mate to fight the fish. We were using relatively light line and after a 10 min battle we got it to on the beach. His first aussie salmon going 65cm Ended up landing a few more salmon and one tailor. Pillies barely got touched and most of the fish were caught on squid strips. Was going to throw out a slab bait for a jewie but I didnt bring my jewie gear with me. All the fish were released except for one salmon which was kept for a feed
