  1. Jewfish are predominantly a summer fish mate
  2. how much was the symmetry over there?
  3. There good and bad. Great for protecting the reel from corrosion but since daiwa don't sell mag seal oil its very hard to service the reels yourself. Ive got a certate and a sol and love them both.
  4. Daiwa generation black travel rods are great.... $150
  5. Hey mate, I recently converted to Sunline Castaway. Its a great thin and very smooth braid which comes in a cool sky blue colour. Its IGFA so it breaks below stated therefore I use the 10lb for my bream which is thinner than most 4 lb braids being only pe0.6. From memory its as thin as 3 lb power pro. An btw don't think power pro comes in 6 lb... only 5 and 8.
  6. No but everyone fishes there anyway haha
  7. Yeh its weird id always want more line but some people don't want backing as it adds a few grams, so therefore the 2508 would be a little lighter
  8. http://daiwafishing.com.au/air-edge/ try the daiwa air edge great rods also. Or a black label however there around $270
  9. 2004 is a 2000 with with a shallow spool (same body side) 2506 is a 2500 with a shallow spool but 2506 only has 3kg drag compared to 7kg in a 2500 2508 is a 2500 body with 7kg drag but shallow spool (bit confusing) 3012 is a 3000 body with a shallower spool. The sol and calida are very similar except for weight (sol is slightly heavier) however sol is a bit stronger/more durable. You could get either a 2508 sol with a 3-5kg rod or if u want a 3000 daiwa u will need a 4-7, 5-10kg rod for balance. Depends if you want the lighter or heavier option depending in the terrain you are fishing i.e. heavier structure would probe go the heavier outfit. Hope that helps?
  10. The supercasta is 7ft6 and 5-10kg I use mine for casting poppers/stickbaits as well had heavier metals for kings and big salmon off the stones. Not really a jew plastics rod...
  11. Hey I think I can offer a bit of advice as I was in your shoes not long ago For a start for jews a 3-5/4-7kg rod would be perfect matched with a 2500 daiwa or a 3000 shimano. A 2500 daiwa is even bigger than a 3000 shimano as in line capacity etc, and a 3000 daiwa is about a 4000 shimano. How much are you willing to spend? As for the geno blacks, i have 2 and love them! Such a good rod for the price. There is a 3 piece 4-7kg "Black sniper" which would fit the job perfect. However it would be more like a 3-5 kg rod as i have a wicked weasel which is 2-6kg but feels like a 2-4... I have a certate 2500 for my jewie combo but similar reels that would balance well with the rod would be a new caldia 2500, sustain 3000, ballistic 2500, etc, really comes down to daiwa vs shimano haha. Any way hope that helped and feel free to ask any questions.
  12. If not running braid why wouldn't u just use straight thru fluro instead of mono and not have to worry about leader knots?
  13. Definitely was darker than normal bonito. Like said above looks yellow fin tunaish.. They don't taste as nice as regular bonito, there a lot stronger and have that real "fishy" taste.
  14. Was gonna say that! Its pretty new right? only just seen it on Moey, and it comes in 200m spools which is a huge bonus
  15. Great snapper for sydney, and a sick new combo! Wat braid are u running on that stradic? can't quite see.
  16. That reminds me, i was at a wharf eating lunch when i saw a school of 30cm bream cursing around. Found a piece of line and a hook and put a few veggies from my burger on the hook. Pretty sure it was onion, lettuce and tomatoe. Any dropped it down and caught one instantly !
  17. Weirdest thing would probably be catching a salmon on a squid jig! while squidding one day, there was a massive bust up in front of me. Cast the squid jig in amongst them and foul hooked one. Took it really easy and some how the barbs didn't straighten.
  18. So do most people...
  19. Hey Raiders, Just came back from a week in the Bay of Islands NZ. Went out 3 days to target some big Kingys! Between the 4 of us we would have landed over 100 kings with 20 being over 10kg. The biggest went 17kg which was massive for us but still an average fish for over there! First time jiggling and loved it, such a fun and exciting way to fish. In my opinion it was way better than using lives. On the last day after a 20 minute fight, i had a 25kg fish on the surface, only to see a 250kg bronzy come up and snatch it from me Anyway thats fishing. Hope you enjoy

    Sabiki Rods

You still want to feel bites, what if u get hit on the way up? you can drop it back down. How do u no if u have a fish on?

    Sabiki Rods

Just used 1 for 4 days on a recent trip to nz. They are very thick and hard to tell when u have a yakka on.... They also tangle up quite a fair bit. Id just stick to war u said a very light spin stick therefore you can feel more bites.
  22. Yep +1 for it being a bullshark. You would be able to stop most kings with locked drag and 80lb braid. Any anyway if it was a king it would have taken u into structure and busted u off before spooling u....
  23. sorry mate misunderstanding, cracker bream tho!
