  1. Congrats mate! That's a nice feed. And that big girl is a monster
  2. If land based the raider because of the heigh 7'3 but if on a boat I'd go the t curve. The stradic ci4 is an amazing reel ( I have the 100) so I'd definitely go with that
  3. Nice work and gret report! Sounds like a solid session. How big was the flatty that snapped your leader while lifting it up?
  4. That's awesome! Question is do they actually work!
  5. Congrats on a thumper trev! May I ask what wait and rig (hook sizes) did you use?
  6. Sounds like you still had fun! How big do you think the fish that busted you off where?
  7. The goods mixed in with some of the average goosh! Anyway great report and any photos of the squid
  8. Hello Raiders, After many hours, and hard sessions spent trying to catch my first jewy, i finally succeeded. Hit up my local spot this afternoon, (as i had no homework! ) to try to catch the elusive jew. I arrived down at 4pm with 2 set ups. A 4-7kg combo with a 4000 size reel with 15lb braid and 20lb leader, and a 10-12 kg combo with a 8000 size reel with 30lb braid and 30lb leader. I was using frozen squid which i had caught from a previous outing. ! chucked a whole squid on the bigger outfit, and a small strip on the smaller one. after waiting an hour with not even a bite, i was ready to pack up and go when my samller outfit screems to life! Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Yes i'm on! The fish had taken 30m off line before i had even gotten to the reel. I set the hook and began the long fight. After 3 runs and 10 minutes, i had managed to gain some line and the beast was getting nearer. just as i got the net ready the fish takes another huge run. Zzzzzzzz the line screams again! I finally mange to get him to the surface and i couldn't believe my eyes I got him up and gave a scream of triumph . The fish measured 89cm and 8.45 kg. I was very stoked and couldn't stop smiling. I somehow remembered the item for COTM, and realised i had nothing blue anywhere . But wait i thought, realising the t shirt underneath my rain jacket was blue. I pulled up the shirt and took a quick photo before swimming the fish and watching it swim away, to fight another day. Thankyou for all the support i've gotten from all the members on Fishraider, and i hope theres many jewies to come. I would like to submit my jewy for COTM May 2013. Kind regards, Mr. Fish
  9. 2 snelled, one through the top and one down further hear the eyes. 4/0s to 9/0 depending on the Fay your chasing. I like to use cir le hooks or live bait hooks. Hope this helps and good luck!
  10. Can't do it on iPad so will try tomorrow
  11. When your walking onto the wharf the right hand side nearest to the rocks, cast plastics on the change of tide and you should get some! Mr fish
  12. Hello raiders, Fished Clifton gardens wharf friday and Saturday for about 3 hours each and came up with some great results. First day resulted in 3 squid largest being 20cm (hood only), 2 flathead 54, and 52, a 26cm bream, a 37cm trevally, and a 67cm bonito. All were caught on 3 inch gulp minnows exept for the squid, and the bonito which was caught on a live yellow tail. On saturday as soon as I arrived I was seeing very small bustups lasting only for 30 seconds max. They were happening every 15 minutes and were in different locations every time. Managed 7 salmon all between 55-65cm. They were caught on 4 inch gulp minnows and only 6lb leader. I also managed 2 Watsons bonito which are spectacular looking. They were 40 and 56cm. I also lost a bonito that would of been 65cm at least!! Apart from that there were little rat kingpins swimming around the wharf, but could not be tempted by anyone. Good fishing tho, and many Pelagius around at the moment. I will upload all the pics later. Mr. Fish

  15. Hi raiders, For the past few weeks I've been trying to catch a Jew (landbased) around the northern beaches I've tried Clifton gardens, and palm beach wharf with no luck, only banjo sharks, large pike and bonito. I've been using live squid with 2 snelled 5/0 hooks. Does anyone know any good spots anywhere near the northern beaches. Any rigs, baits and general tips would be much appreciated. Thankyou so much. Mr. Fish
  16. If its catch and realease I don't see why not. At Forster there's a little reef that I snorkel using a hand line to catch big bream on bread. The pain is having to swim all the way to shore to realease the fish!
  17. There's west reef thats about 10 minutes from barrenjoey boat house and it has some nice tailor, salmon, kingfish from time to time
  18. Depends where you live but at narrabeen but and tackle, Sydney you can get them
  19. Hello raiders, I am wondering what good wharfs, rocks etc around the northern beaches or the harbour are good.
