  1. Hey mate if you are ever going to bait collect any chance you could give me a yell if I can tag along. Been struggling to get decent poddies this north of the coast for a while. Unsure if it's me or the location or what!
  2. Shoot me a message if you want to hit the beaches. Highly recommend looking at one of the fishing clubs West Gosford RSL is probably the best of the lot Head down to the RSL on a thursday night for the seafood raffles and you will see the table with all the blokes.
  3. Pulbah Island is good to troll around.
  4. Let me know if you want to try some of the other beaches on the coast. I live near Norah head myself.
  5. Next time you are out this way let me know
  6. Hi All, Haven't posted in a long time as I have not fished in a long time. Been doing a lot of shooting and have since sold my boats and moved a bit further north away from Brisbane waters. I went out last Friday with my little cousin who is fishing nuts. We took out my uncles two man kayak. I have never fished from a Kayak so I was a little worried but it turned out to good little fishing vessel. We only fished soft plastics around saratoga & surrounding areas however managed to pick up a 50+ & 40+ flatties which was great. Cheers
  7. Hi All, I have moved further North and have also sold my boat so I am hoping to find someone who has a boat and needs some company in Lake Macquarie. I've done all my fishing in Brisbane Waters so I'm unfamiliar with Lake Mac however I have plenty of boating and fishing experience. I mostly enjoy fishing soft plastics however love to soak baits for Jewies too. I'm a married 27 year old non smoker drinker etc. Full time employed in IT so can only fish weekends. Happy to share costs / clean boat etc. Feel free to shoot me a text on 0424 009 442 Cheers
  8. Depends on the species. Most released but some we take home. Made the bad decision of going to Budgie beach as it's not far from me. Nothing there which I expected. Should have gone to The Entrance. Might give it another go this weekend
  9. Haven't landed much I don't do much shark fishing however my mate does a lot. He gets spooled mostly even on extremely heavy gear. He launches a kayak from the beach and take the large baits way way out. It's totally nuts but enjoyable to watch
  10. Thanks for the update. I won't use salmon for bait just enjoy the catch might take some home for the cat. We use massive bonnies for sharks
  11. Hi All. Haven't posted in a long time as I haven't fished in a long time. Since I sold my last boat I have been mainly hunting with a few fishing sessions here and there. I'll soon be looking at a Stacer 420 or 460 so might be back out on Brisbane Waters / Lake Mac soon. Looks like I might be hitting the beach up my way (North end of the Central Coast) and I was wondering if anyone has been getting onto any Salmon recently? We are mainly going for sharks however wouldn't mind a few salmon also. Cheers.
  12. Heading out with Owen in his half cab. Will let you know if we have the room!
  13. Hi All, Might be a little early in the season however has anyone been out to either the Terrigal or Broken Bay fads yet? Might try get out there either Friday or sometime next week. Cheers
  14. drift from the rip down towards paddys channel. Or even paddys channel itself. Actually you can get them anywhere in Brisbane waters so there's no "spot" like there is with the yakkas. Current flow, water clarity and time of day play the biggest part I have found. First place I would go would be that drift from the bridge down river.
  15. That stuff should start to clear up once the water temps start to rise again.
  16. Hi All, With a good tide and moon Saturday night me and my mate couldn't resist launching the boat and trying our luck or the 50,000th time for a jewie. We launched at 4PM and headed straight over to box head for some livies. We did this last Saturday however with a swell of over 2m we could barely anchor let alone get live bait. This time is was slight different..SLIGHTLY. The swell was extremely low however the livies certainly were still playing hard to get. After much effort, cursing and praying I managed to catch two horse yakkas. Generally we can catch 20+ in 30 minutes! The decision was made due to the lack of bait to try our luck for bream as we didn't have enough livies to throw down. After some discussion we decided to try a spot that we have found to produce good size bream. After dodging all the fools anchored with no lights we got to our spot and were setup with and hour or so before the high tide. Around 30 minutes into our session my mates overhead combo start to scream. This is nothing unusual with this spot as you can get a lot of rubbish fish ie shovel nose, eels etc. As the fight continued with a couple of powerful headshakes and some positive and negative comments on what it could be we finally saw that very sort after colour...Silver! Once we found out what we was it was a mad rush to replace the net with the gaff. The fish was totally knackered by the time he hit the surface so the landing went smooth and quick. After this catch and after all the yaawhooing we tried for another hour and moved to a few spots before calling it a night. We didn't measure the fish however it was weighed in at 10.55kg gutted. Cheers.
  17. Hard time of year however timing is everything with Brisbane Waters. The Yakkas are generally easily caught at Box Head, When I say easy it's not ALWAYS easy as I found out last saturday arvo. Didn't get a single one! They don't seem to be keen when the swell is up or at night. Hopefully will have more success tomorrow. The most success I seem to have in Brisbane Water is at night. During the day can sometimes produce but it's bloody hard work.
  18. Good to hear some flatties are still about. Keen to get out there again soon.
  19. Skeg repaired & motor tuned & ready. it currently getting fiberglass repairs so I'll be picking it up sometime this weekend. Any idea's what I need to paint onto my new skeg to protect it / Do I need to paint it at all? Before: After:
  20. Acetone brought out the white shine again so that shouldn't be hard. I think I'll need to hit the red with a very very smooth sand and regel coat it. Or I'll just have it resprayed. Cheers for the offer if I have to keep waiting I might take you up on that. Yeah I'll try make it down sometime soon. Living where I am now it's a bit of a treck. With a bit of work you can easily get your money back on that boat. I think about that trailer almost daily though. Such a good trailer.
  21. Hi All, Haven't posted in months and months due winter, work travel & having no boat! Since the storms that took out my last boat I'm finally close to getting the new to me boat out onto the water. I removed the outboard from my old boat and sold the boat and trailer only. I then purchased my new hull (16ft easyrider half cab) & trailer which put me out of pocket around $200. I have installed a new steering cable and control cables, rewired the whole boat & trailer & fitted the outboard. I'll soon be replacing the windows and cabin seats. I also need to find a way to bring the colour back to life. Cut and polish didn't do the trick! The last few jobs will be adjustment of the control cables and skeg repair however I'll leave that up to a mechanic! Hopefully I'll be back out by the end of August and back to writing up some reports!
  22. It's a very hard place to fish. I find it easier to be out of the current and cast into it otherwise the boat will just do circles. It's good to drift under the bridge with livies or squid too. When it's really pulling hard I'll generally go further up or down stream until it slows then try the above. Cheers
  23. If you need a deckie let me know, I haven't been out in ages
