  1. come by my place and take all the wood you need. Really good pine cut in easy to move sizes There's a few tons of it for you =)
  2. I'll shoot you a PM Thanks
  3. I'll have to have a look at where I can source the material. I was hoping bunnings or masters would stock it. Might have to check out a few of the plastic stores around here. There's one I know that has it but they tried to rip me off an extra $200 on a $60 window cut out. I could list it on ebay but I want it to go with the trailer which is worth $600+ in itself. The hull is easily repaireable if someone has the time. The transom is okay as it had an old 115 sitting on it last week with no transom movement. I'll be putting a 70 on it which is a lot lighter. I don't intend for it to last me 10 years or anything. A few seasons and I'll redo the floor and transom if need doing.
  4. Thanks Antony, I might just hire one just so I don't put anyone out / waste time etc. But thanks for the offer. Was thinking of just finding a big tree and using the trailer winch to lift up the motor!
  5. Hull has to go with the trailer, Don't have time to muck around as I'm in the process of moving, getting the boat sorted and about to travel overseas for work. Everything has to happen at once! No problem
  6. Hi All, Got the new boat home the other day and now comes the massive task of stripping the old boat and fitting out the new. I will be spending a lot of time on getting the new boat nice and shiny and ready for next season. I'm about to take the motor from my old boat and fit it to the new however I'm unsure what to use as a backing plate. I was thinking of using Polyethylene or Marine ply. What would you suggest? Also I'll be wanting to off load my old hull and the new trailer pretty quickly. The trailer should sell very easily as it's massive & in good shape. I'm thinking my old hull will be too much effort for anyone to bother with therefore stopping the sale. If it comes to it will rubbish tips take old fiberglass hulls? Cheers
  7. Thanks for the offer amkr, I have a kennards down the road. But thanks anyway!
  8. Thanks, Yes they don't have many deep roots & the ground it was on was very very soft almost like sand. I have no idea why the previous owners planted it right on top of the water main. I actually remember coming home from work and thinking I'll park down from the house a bit as I was expecting the big gum tree to fall. It remained standing and the bloody pine fell!
  9. No, but it was time to get a new hull anyway. Luckily only the jockey wheel was damaged so I can keep my current trailer. New boat will have insurance. Thanks scratchie.
  10. I might need a hand getting my 70 from my current boat over to the new one. Going to need a hoist or something, Really want to avoid going to any marine mechanics as they'll charge me through the roof.
  11. Wasn't a great ramp anyway.
  12. Hi All, As my boat was damaged due to a falling tree I've decided to replace the hull. My current one was very dated even before the tree put a hole in it. I have purchased the hull-only vickers easy rider. I think it's around the 16ft mark. I'll be chucking on my johson 70 and it will sit on my trailer as it's better then the one being supplied. Does anyone have one of these hulls or know much about them? I think they are very similar to the nautiglass which I currently own. Thanks
  13. We got smashed also. and in the process if wrote off my boat =( tree basically launched the boat high and put a hole in the transom. motor is alright bit of damage to the lower unit but it's manageable. x2 cars ended up under the tree but as it was a pine it was a soft landing so only took off my mirror and minor dents to the missus car. We won't have power till Saturday.
  14. heading out tomorrow night to try for a jewie. Third Saturday in a row, something other then eels has to happen!
  15. I don't use taptalk so not sure on how to direct you to check your personal messages.
  16. Hey Cargo, Check out my post from awhile ago. I asked the same question and got many good responses. http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=69626 I ended up going with the Led Lenser H7R.2. I like having the option to use AAA batteries or the rechargeable supplied battery. I can plug it into any USB port for it to recharge also. Very bright with many different settings to choose from. Sits in the garage for weeks fully charged and lasts ages when in use. Cheers .
  17. I use circle hooks, I didn't have my bait runner with me so playing with the drag was a bit of a pain. This time I'll use my bait runner and hope to give the fish a good chance to get snagged. I find it a bit of a challenge to get the hooks sitting correctly with the circles Not sure what they were exactly but they were horrid little things anyway.
  18. They work very well for attracting squid and other live baits.
  19. Yes it was strange. My mate asked if I had left any bait in my boat lately as there were maggots everywhere. I thought it was strange as I clean the boat very well after every use. Didn't take long to work out it was lice coming from the bait. Once the current started to move we didn't have much of a problem. Jews as they were mouthing the bait then bolted. We used yakkas around the 10cm to 15cm mark. We are planning on giving it another shot this weekend. Hopefully have some more luck! Most of the massive runs we had were on the light gear (Which was still pretty heavy) All it took was massive runs, head shakes and that was that.
  20. Hi All, Sunday night a mate & I decide to meet the high tide under the rip bridge & try a find a nice Jewie. Launched at woy woy around 3PM and headed straight over to box head for some livies. They weren't thick in numbers however we managed to get around 10 or so. Decided to troll our way back inside which resulted in a couple of legal tailor. Once we found our spot under the rip it was time to get prepared. I was using two setups; 8-15kg rod with 30lb main / 40lb fluro 7/0 snell rig & lighter setup for bream. Sat the heavy rod in the bait board rod holder while I was mucking aroud doing something, Looked up to notice the 8-15kg rod buckled and the bait board at breaking point. Managed to get the rod out and ping, Fish lost! My fault for having the drag locked up. This happened 6 times over 4 hours. Baits smashed huge runs line screaming however no solid hook ups or getting rubbed off! We did manage to get one around 60 - 70cm boat side before it spat the hooks. Called it a night around 1AM taking home one 40cm bream. Also caught a few sharks, 10,000 eels & 100,000 sea lice. Game plan now is to get 80lb braid with 50lb fluro! Cheers.
  21. flathead frames work very well from what I hear.
  22. The end of the channel using worms. Even if the water is basically a rapid they will still be there. Nippers work OK however the worms seem to be the gun bait. Flathead I would go further up the channel and use nippers / mullet etc OR SP's.
  23. Looks a lot better then my home made job I did the other weekend.
