  1. Any over 70 I generally throw back unless it's a fishing comp then I keep anything legal. Always work the lure stephanb79 seems to get more results.
  2. Hi Guys, I went out Sunday with the intention to try my luck out on the reefs. Left Woy Woy ramp at 6AM and headed straight outside. Swell wasn't too bad a bit lumpy around box head however that's standard. Tried for a few hours around the closer reefs, Did the usual drift with nothing much to show for it except a blind shark and the typical red rock cod! Did some jigging and managed a legal tailor. Fed up with the lack of results I took off to Patonga. Managed a few undersize flatties and one legal flounder. By this time is was around 10AM and boiling so I decided to head back in and do one last drift around the rip. Managed to pick up a 60cm flattie on nuke chicken. I've decided to no longer bother going outside unless I intend to hit the 80m mark. It's been very unproductive lately! Hopefully better luck this weekend Cheers
  3. Mind running me through what retrieve method you have been using? Very interested in using HB's however can't seem to stop myself from rigging soft plastics!
  4. Find structure like bridges, wharf's etc. Avoid somewhere with a lot of people walking around / 100 lines in the water. Fresh bait with an incoming high tide. I'd take prawns, squid & chicken gutt. Go on the low tide and pump nippers on the sand flats, These are probably one of the best baits you can use for bream. Check the pressure you want it about 1016 preferable. Today is 1015 so I would give it a go if I wasn't at work! Anything too low and bream seem to shut down. Low light / night would be best. Entrance is hard due to how popular the area is. I was there for dinner Saturday night and it was packed out with people fishing. Light mono line maybe 6lb main with 8lb fluro leader. Marked a few spots I would try. Good Luck!
  5. Pretty bad would be an understatement! 3m+ swell. Legs feel wobbly just thinking about it haha!
  6. Hi All, Unfortunately not my catch however a fellow fishing club member caught this 23kg Marlin last Sunday 25/01/2015 by Di Brown 66yr old retired grandmother fishing for Gosford RSL Fishing Club in the Brisbane Water combined fishing clubs comp (which she won)! She was targeting Snapper and got this instead! Anchored at broken bay wide in 80mts of water using a light spin rod & egg beater reel with a snapper rig (patanosta). Bait was old brined full pilchards for bait. The fish grabbed the bait about 1/2 way to the bottom then the fight was on. The fight took 3/4hrs! Cheers

    Not happy Jan

As annoying as rain can be I rather fish in wet conditions then bright and sunny. I find the water more productive and the pressure is up to 1013 at the moment. Lot better then 1002 like the past few days.
  8. Hey Col, Seeing as we fish the same waterways I might be able to give a bit of advise. For Brisbane waters there has to be a billion squid just about everywhere you go. From the deep holes around the rip to the shallows around paddys. It seems as though they are just like jackets & pinkies and will attack anything that comes close. Your best bet would be a 3.0 or 3.5 Yamashita (or similar) pink squid jig. You don't want the small 2.0 or 2.5 because as you know our water ways are basically a large rapid. The smaller jigs just won't get down I even struggle getting the 3.0+ down some days.. Your best bet would be have the lure on a hand line or spare rod. Keep it over the side and about midway down to the bottom and just leave it. As you drift over weedy areas the squid will see it and hopefully will jump on. The other benefit is when you pull you bait back into the boat the squid will follow it then head over to the lure once the bait has left the water. This is how I get a handful of squid per outing. You can work the lure like you would any soft plastic however I think it's just easier to leave the jig over the side as the squid are everywhere at the moment. Hope this helps, Cheers
  9. Ahhh see I told you..soft plastics is the way to go. The old man wants to go out tomorrow so that's the fourth day I'll be on the water. Hopefully get some flatties tomorrow
  10. Nice, We didn't have any bloody luck today. Decent sized whiting and flounder. Flatties would not touch any of the lures! We ended up at Lobster beach for most of the day so that's my excuse!
  11. yeah the valient isn't too hard to find however don't think much has been happening on it for ages. Better to just go over to west reef.
  12. How early are we talking haha I don't know if I will be up for a 7AM start. Due to the tide did you want to head out later in the morning? Or you heading out with the missus? I don't know what time I'm coming back in from a jew session tonight. With the winds I may just stay till the turn of the tide then head in.
  13. Passing over the bridge as I type and the color has improved somewhat. Still slightly brownish & it's low tide. Should be fine for the weekend I imagine providing the wind isn't too extreme!
  14. I might sit down when I have the time and add a few more & start to include ones around the central coast. If anyone has any they would like to add please PM me.
  15. Just came back from dinner with all the old blokes and they reminded me comp doesn't start till 6am sat. Still head out tomorrow night for hopefully a jew Sunday has nice conditions should be good in the morning too bad the tides don't really match up!
  16. That's good I haven't added anything to it for a long time as I no longer live in sydney or have access to the map. Might create a new one and keep it up to date.
  17. Going past it to and from work it has been pretty filthy with all that rain earlier in the week. Like hot chocolate
  18. Nice, Just don't wash them with fresh water. Makes them useless for bait yeah the pink seems to be the winning color at the moment. $20 isn't cheap but you can't beat fresh bait. And if you don't use it as bait it's awesome to eat. Nothing worse when losing a good squid jig though. Lost my fav last week. RIP.
  19. Hi All, Thought I would start a thread to see what fishing plans you all have for this long weekend. The tides aren't the best and the wind looks to be really up unfortunately. I hopefully will be out tomorrow night to chase down a jewie if lucky. Saturday might see if I can meet up with fellow raider Hooked 58 for a flattie session. Sunday & Monday the waterways and boat ramp may be a little packed for me so might head out for a beach session. What about you?
  20. yeah I added a lot to that map. Created by raider Bennoz. Probably needs a good update by now.
  21. Not sure if these are the wrecks you mean however after some searching this is what I have found 32 43.108 S 152 5.437 E and the other one
  22. Looking back into old posts on raider the most info I could find was this; tomahawk wreck is in careel bay & another one clareville moorings.
  23. Probably wrong but looks like a black drummer
