  1. I did exactly the same thing on my old v-sea. In addition I tied a large rubber ring (type used on large pipes) in the middle of the bridle, and this acted like a shock absorber. this method was perfect when fishing alone
  2. Good morning Fishraiders I have just had a bloke from Kirrawee make me a new Bimini, Clears and all over boat cover for my 2000 model Seafarer V-Sea (so I can stand up at the helm when steering) Well ladies & gents, today I picked up my boat and I must say Craig's work is outstanding and prices are good for what you get. (If you want to know who did the work send a PM)
  3. The banning of these portable cookers was NOT a hoax. there were a number of person seriously injured from these cookers, hence the ban. As a result of a detailed inquiry/study, these style cookers manufactured prior to 2015 were banned and recalled. http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/ftw/Consumers/Product_and_service_safety/Lunchbox_cookers.page The final result being that the manufacturers were forced to make a significant safety change. The cookers available today are considered safe. i have used these for years. On the ban, I got rid of mine and have since purchased another.
  4. Portagee Googan well I'm off to wherever you go to get your name changed ??? i dare not tell my wife wife her name is now CHUNKY CHUNKBAIT
  5. Absolutely Fab1. Today we often take to much for granted. Family and friends are a wonderful asset and we must cherish every moment we have with them. Unfortunately our loved ones will not be here for ever. I hope things improve for you Fab1 and take care
  6. I ran into Santa about ten days ago and when he asked me what I wanted, I put a request in for one of these. i wonder if he was really listening. Merry Christmas Raiders
  7. I'd be very cautious about eating fish caught in the Cooks River http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0016/621241/cooks-river-warning-sign.pdf
  8. Not sure how much you want to spend, but if she fishes and is an active young girl, perhaps a GoPro to capture her fishing, boating and adventures
  9. I was grabbing in Botany Bay last week. Weather not the best choppy and windy. Still we got 10 between us. Going back out on Friday for a Christmas feed. on the northern side of Towra we picked up a couple of big ones, but because tide went to low I had trouble getting my Seafarer into the best spots. somone in a lighter tinnie, I think would clean up. good luck
  10. Thanks very much for the information. I have now read a little about The National Standard for the Australian Builders Plate for Recreational Boats. They say it is good to learn somthing every day, I have now learnt my something for today. While on this subject is there anyone who owns a relatively new Seafarer V-Sea that could post a pic of their Builders Plate for me to see. I own a 2000 model v-sea but does not have a builders plate.
  11. The phone number is 02 9605 6559
  12. Well just an update on my concerns. Took it to the Doctor (South West Marine - Ingleburn). Started it up in the tank (hadn't been started since Thursday when problem occurred. Telltale immediately flowed strong and no signs of interruption. Kept it running for 15 minutes, checked all temperatures and everything perfect. Impeller is like new. Cost no charge. I'm once again happy and will in future make sure sounder with depth alarm is turned on so no more weedy areas to run aground events very low speed. Thanks everyone. ADMIN Might be worth contacting the mentioned company and see if interested in becoming a sponsor. The owners name is Nick and a genuine good bloke and from what I know very knowledgeable.
  13. I always have my Maui Jim's on when in the boat. great information and advice
  14. Rick if what you say is correct, once the telltale begins to run normally does that mean if there was a blockage, it has now cleared?
  15. Thanks. Mine is also a 2000 model (Oceanrunner) very happier with it, but this has not happened before. To to my knowledge the thermostats are only 12 months old.
  16. Good morning Raiders I have a 115 Johnson two stroke Yesterday to took it out in Botaby Bay crabbing (yes we did get quite a feed) Throughout the day we got caught a couple of times in shallow weedy water. This morning I cleaned up the boat and flushed her out. At first the telltale was not very strong (unusual) and then suddenly it became very strong (usual) again. Before shutting it off I thought I saw some steam and when I felt the water and found it was quite hot. Can someone explain, or is it that with not much water flushing through when telltale was weak is everything getting a little hot before telltale became strong again. I'll give it another go tomorrow and see what happens. The water just just seemed hotter than normal. It was as if if there was a bit of a blockage and then suddenly it cleared itself. Thanks
  17. Yes a very good site. Full of informative members and definitely a place to learn things. Not always posting, but always reading
  18. Hi Raiders I'm condisering putting a drum style anchor winch in my 2000 model Seafarer V-Sea. Are there any raiders with V-Seas that have installed anchor winches. If so, 1. Which one did you install, 2. Was the install easy, 3. Any modifications required, Pictures of your installed winch would be very much appreciated.
  19. Thanks for the replies gents. I didn't think about the increased vibrations, etc. I intend the second battery to be used for electronics, radio, and emergency if needed. What are your thoughts on the added weight of a second battery down the rear
  20. I have a current shape Seafarer V-Sea with 115hp Johnson (2 stroke). It's a big motor and a little heavy in the rear. I want to install a second battery for electrics and backup starter if ever needed. My question is - as this will ad further weight to rear, what are the experts thoughts on relocating both batteries (the old and the new) and putting them inside/under the seats (1 each side) in the cuddy area. My thoughts are will lighten up the rear a little and change weight distribution in the boat. THOUGHTS
  21. Sorry to be so long winded, but I thought no we need to know what is going on before we panic ------------------- I've done a search in several places and found nothing. I've read the Port Hacking Game Fishing facebook article and it appears to be speculation with nothing to support the comment, BUT it does ask you to personally make contact with your local member to air your thoughts and opinions. I think hey are being precautionary as the government are discussing marine parks, but nothing to say it has anything to do with the Sydney area. THIS IS THEIR FACEBOOK ARTICLE: So ironic that today is National Gone Fishing Day. For those of you who want to keep fishing in NSW estuaries: The NSW Government is currently assessing the area from Newcastle to Wollongong, and addressing the "threats that affect our use and enjoyment of the bioregion". Other areas north and south of this region will be assessed later. It is apparent that reducing pollution, storm water runoff, microplastics and introduced pest species is in the too hard basket, and so recreational fisherman have become the easy target. There is no science behind the plans to reduce recreational fishing, it's just the easy way to be seen as trying to help the environment and keep the Greens onside. This map is the suggested "lock-out" zone in Port Hacking. That's right - all of it! In the next couple weeks, the NSW Government will decide which areas will be zoned new marine parks and banned to fishermen. If you want to influence the process you have to contact your local member this week - preferably in person, else in writing, and let them know you oppose the lock outs. There are better alternatives to preserving our environment. ------------------ In June this year the below article was released by the NATURE CONSERVATION COUNCIL (obviously an arm of the Greens Party). I have read this article and I think it contains a lot of NON truths and exaggerations, like "NSW National Parks Association CEO Kevin Evans said: “The results of the submission process reflect surveys and polls that have consistently shown more than 80% of the public, including recreational fishers, support marine parks and marine sanctuaries" This may be true, but no recreational fisher would support a blanket ban from Newcastle to Wollongong. http://www.nature.org.au/news/2016/06/5000-submissions-call-for-a-marine-park-for-sydney/ Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
