  1. Thanks, I googled it and unsure if I have the correct place as it looks like a marina. Would you be able to give me a little more details ie street? Is it friendly for kids?
  2. Hi i was wondering if there was a land based area that I could pump some nippers and maybe fish at the same location anywhere from Newport to palm beach. I told the kids we will do something different today but have no idea where to go.
  3. Awesome fish - How big was the jew? It looks like a beauty! Ps was it with Live bait?
  4. awesome stuff - well done. ps - how deep was the water the traps were set in and what bait was used?
  5. What bait and how big? They are defiantly Jew runs...... What size hook or hooks? I struggled in early October but have found a formula that I am hooking 90% or runs now.
  6. They are a nice looking species
  7. Nice catch. I had caught many of these in Manly in the 90's. Some where big over 1kg fish. i thought they dissappeared. Nice to see they are still around.
  8. Correct i noticed as well. Big 2.1 high tides and very low tides stired things up.
  9. Yes i am aware of this though the damage would be done as i was eating heaps of fish from this area way before the recommendation to stop eating the fish, some 30 years ago. I will eat a little from time to time and am not too concerned as you cant tell me east of the bridge if safe and west is not. Most fish that i catch swim so they feed from anywhere.
  10. 2.8 kg. Have not been getting many over 4kg in the area.
  11. Yes they are all borderline legal/illegal in length of late. One if the 68cm ones we caught today i quickly weighed and out weighed the legal fish at just over 3kgs.
  12. Thanks it's been a decent season for me after October, they are everywhere the harbour is polluted with them. I have been fishing different spots that I have never fished the last 4 times and have caught them every time
  13. After a returning from a week long family holiday at Lake Macquarie where I fishing daily for a few nice crocks and some other bits and pieces I had an urge to hook a Jew. I decided to fish Gladesville this morning with fresh squid and had a fair bit of fun. Ended up with 4 ranging from 65 to 73 cm. was off the water by 8am so wife was happy again.
  14. Thanks do they taste like the regular garfish?
  15. Long nose point what birchgrove is the best I. Sydney for Jews
  16. Hi all, Are these at all eatable if so any receipies?
  17. Scratchie, I told the wife it was tre kids but I supported their decision. As for Jews I have been nailing them but can't crack 4kg mark recently. There are heaps around but all schoolies. I am away at Lake Macquarie with the boat on our jetty and not sure where to look for Jews here!
  18. Hi, We had a family picnic today at a nice little beach in pittwater. My boys insisted on taking a rod each which I agreed. They had some success in the middle of the day on peeled hawkesbury prawns. 3 large bream largest going 37cm and a nice flathead. Good start to the year.
  19. HI, We have booked a holiday house at Fishing point on the water and was wondering what fish are common caught in the lake. I have a Tinnie so will be fishing from the boat. Are there Jews in the Lake? Also is there any tackle shops in the area that sell live beach worms? Any advice is greatly appriciated.
  20. I did keep 2. I know you are not meant to eat them from west of the bridge but i do eat a little from time to time. Surely they are much cleaner now than than years ago where my day was a very keen fisho and we ate fish at least once a week from west of the bridge. Maybe this explains my issues, at least the wife thinks!
  21. After a day at the shops with the family I grabbed by young bloke and hit parra river around 530pm. Didn't fish my spot as wind was strong but found a nice hole out of the wind and it didn't let us down. We caught over 10 fish to 83cm in 3 hours. We had double hook ups more than once. We left them on the bite. All caught on squid. My boy couldn't get enough of bringing them in.
