  7. yeah me neither, as a kid we used to get really nice size ones off the admiral's yatch wharf and around the wharves in kiribilli. Havent seen one for years. Are fan bellied jackets the same as fan tail?

    what species please?

thanks andy. a wirrah hey? never heard of them. What family is it from?
  10. nice haul. Was this land based or boat?
  11. can someone tell me what this is called please? Some type of cod or groper? My bro caught it in the bay last week. The wind was blowing a bit to hard and it was getting rough so we headed in. Right near the foreshaw rd ramp there was heaps of tailor busting up the surface so we decided to stop and have a quick go at them. They were a bit of fun on light gear and HB's. There seems to be a few species in that area, small stuff but we caught bream, reds, sweep, tailor and the thing pictured. On and around the ramp theres heaps of blackfish and some monster mullet, shame its no fishing.
  12. well done on the jew and good onya releasing him.
  13. awesome lizard, congrats
  14. i gave windang a try last week in my tinnie. Only got the one flattie at 55cm on a 5" jerk shad. Very first cast of the day, i must've tossed it right on top of its head i wrekon. Plenty of tailor busting up the surface around the bridge but didnt seem to much else around. I saw a couple of old guys pull in a half a dozen or so smallish flatties. I think they were using nippers and plastics. Its a tricky little waterway. I might give the lake a try next time i head down that way.
  15. nice fish mate and a champion for releasing them
  16. Thanks for the report duckegg I hear ya about being frustrated. im finding port hacking a tough nut to crack. Everything looks great but we cant find the fish. We tried south west arm, the ballast heap and a few other spots for nothing but small bream. Couldnt even find a flattie anywhere. All we could see were those little rays, banjo i think they are? The last 3 times ive been out over the last week and half or so, whether the port or botany, we've got nothing but small bream. I think i might give windang or the hawkesbury a go.
  17. top report and great session, thanks foe sharing.

thanks for the info sbf1. Yeah, you dont have to give exact locations if you dont want to but a general location, time of day, bait used etc is much appreciated by everyone. Welcome to the site. cheers

    Port hacking

we fished the bay for exactly the same result, lol. Wind blew up pretty hard I dont know if its just us or not but we havent had much luck at all over the last week or so. Cant find the flatties or much of anything in the bay. Apart from small bream and baby leatheries. The water temp is definitely colder than a week or two ago.
