  1. wow, that was pretty cool of him. Bad luck with the bustoffs. Maybe loosen your drag off a bit? Better to let em run a bit more if you can than snap ya off.
  2. yeah i agree sarge. Both great fish though
  3. well done. I was on the bay today and apart from a few taylor on HB's we got nothing. I couldnt sniff a flattie out today or last sunday. Anyone having any luck with the kings? The water temp definitely felt a few degrees down from a few days ago.
  4. lol. classic This hacking incident is a little worrying. I'm still getting "reported attack site" popups whenever i enter the site.
  5. thats a nice whiting 46cm . Good stuff Any pics of him?
  6. yeah i reckon you guys are right, bull shark probably. As you say mrbroadbill, it sounded so loud because its so quiet on the water in the AM hours. We actually shit ourselves a bit it was that big. We both automatically sat straight down and looked at each other wide mouthed saying "what the .... was that!" I have never seen so much fish on the sounder that night. It was a constant stream. All in the middle to upper water column. I reckon whatever it was is hunting them. But yeah the jewy was grouse. Looks like theres quite a few soapys in the georges at the moment. Cant wait to get some nice fresh squid and poddys and chase some more.
  7. aah, i should've known from the beautiful clear water.
  8. well done man, good fun i bet. Where abouts is this? (waterway i mean not actual spot)
  9. took the tinnie out in the georges last friday night. Left the morsehead rd ramp at oatley at about 10.30pm. Headed to to como train bridge and anchored. The sounder was full of fish like i've never seen before but we werent getting even a nibble. Tried squid, prawns, pilchards and plastics, but got nothing, not a single bite. We stayed there for 3 or so hours and decided to try elsewhere. We stopped at one of our favourite spots always good for some nice whiting. Rigged up some squid and pillies and got them in the water and then started flicking some gulp 3 inch shrimp around. We had been there for about 10 or so mins and by this time im starting to get a bit disheartened by the lack of any bites at all. When all of a sudden, bang, I wasnt sure what it was but i knew it was something decent. After a short fight it was a great sight to see colour and spot my first jew. Not a big fella, only 50cm odd but a jew never the less. Sufice to say there was a lot of high fiving and yee-haaing in the boat, lol. On a side note there was something massive near our boat that night. Just before we got the jewy there was an almighty kasplash, about 20 feet from the boat. I dont know what it was but it was huge, easily larger then a man. Then about 15 mins later the same thing did 2 or 3 porpoises making a huge splash everytime it landed. What the hell would it have been?? A dolphin maybe?
  10. does that have anything to do with the malware warnings im getting?
  11. lol, they look exactly like the 2 i took home today from near the runways I saw the boats around us pull a few decent ones out as well. What colour/type of gulp did you get the flatties on? I wasnt getting much at all untill i changed to a 5" jerk shad in pink shine. Cook up nice hey?
  12. took the tinnie out in botany bay today. for a few hours Left the boat ramp near cooks river entrance at about 6am and headed to just off the runways. Not a heap of action but i think the bit of rain we just had helped a little. Got 5 flatties, and a couple of small whiting and bream. Kept 2 ok flatties both caught on 5" gulp jerk shads. The flatties seem to absolutely love the pink shine. Had a rod out with a river rig with 2 circle hooks, bottom hook with a squid strip and top hook prawns. Got sick of the prawn getting pilfered by small bream so i put a gulp 2" shrimp (molting) on the top hook. lol. Picked it up after 5 minutes to check the squid strip to find a double hookup with flattie on top hook and bream bottom. I thought the bream would've taken the gulp shrimp and flattie the big squid strip? These circle hooks soughta feel like cheating. Strange sought of day, wind threatened to pick up a couple of times early. Not a bad few hours on the water though. The missus cooked the flatty fillets up and we just finished them. Beautiful! sorry about pic quality, snapped these on the phone and forgot to get better ones before cleaning at the ramp. Title should be today, 27/12 My link My link My link
  13. yeah quiet in the hacking. Got only one flattie to 50cm last sunday. From the size of the heads and odd filleted carcass in the water at the wonga rd boat ramp some are getting some nice fish in the hacking. Like to know where though ?
  14. i've been getting some bumper whiting to 45cm on gulp 2" shrimp in the gorges near bald face. They seem to like like molting colour
  15. you'll get poddies just about everywhere in the georges. I tried the old orange juice container with a couple of slits cut in it and folded inwards, with a couple of bits of bread broken up the other day at newbridge rd boat ramp at millperra. I left it in the shallows at the ramp for an hour. When I came back there was 20 or so little poddies in it. They were all small ones and i needed a bigger bottle to get the bigger ones but theres plenty there. Buy or make a trap and you'll get plenty

wow, nice mate big homer simpson doughnut drool !
  17. i was talking to guy at oatley boat ramp that said he's been catching nice 30-40cm whiting and the odd bream and flattie from where his boat's moored. Its in oatley bay right up near the boat ramp. He's doing some restoration work in the cabin of a cruiser and thought he'd bring a couple of rods and give his young fellow something to do while he's working. Needless to say he didnt get much work done. He said he kept getting a nice fish every 15 or so minutes. The whiting seemed to be liking the molting coloured shrimp.
  18. hi, yeah we spent the day from 7.30am till about 1.30pm switching between bald face and a little further up near the mouth of oatley bay. There was a couple of tinnies about at both places throughout that time. We caught a few at both spots. It was my first day out in a new tinnie i just bought so i wasnt expecting a lot. I'd never really fished georges river from a boat. I had a 5.5m half cabin and always went into the bay but it was a just a fraction big and i couldnt really go and wet a line on my own whenever i wanted to. Its good to know theres still some good fish to be caught so far up the rivers. I fear this tinnie is going to cop a workout from now on in.
  19. i tried further up the georges near bald face point on sunday and got 6 whiting from 35 to 44cm. Also got a couple of small bream and a big ray. We spotted a bloke fishing off the rock at bald face land a monster as we were going past in our tinne so we thought we'd stop and have a few casts. Got the 44cm whiting first cast of the day on a gulp 2" shrimp. He got a good bag of nice size whiting as well from shore. Definitely some decent whiting in the georges at the moment.
