Yes. Nice. We sometimes cook them like that down there with a portable bbq.The best way to eat them
Fresh prawns:) since
I'm a chef. We like it serve. With soy, fresh chilli garlic, shallot, heated hot oil and pour it over the bowl with all the ingredient. Add Maggie and sugar to taste! Restsurant quality for live prawn:)

The Entrance can be 3 to 4 hours behind the normal tide charts as Tuggerah lakes is 1 metre higher than sea level.Good line up on the moon and tide Stapo! What time did you get out, around 2100?
I'm going to declare war on lake Illawarra this season, I'm sick of them giving them the slip!
Early start to the season too.
High tide in the ocean was around 3pm. So it turned and started to run out out at 6pm.
We hit the water at around 6.15pm. Had a bit of a look around and found a spot.
I got out around 7.30 and was home cooking them by 8. Watching the storm just get home.
I normally start 4 to 5 days after the full moon.

Fresh water then I add salt. Tried the brown sugar and vinegar doesn't seem to make a difference. Maybe the sugar caramelised the shell for easy peeling but they are fresh and sweet they don't need anything but salt.Nice. I remember when lake Illawarra fished that well. How do you like to boil them? Salt? honey? fresh water ?

Prawned with Marvin tonight. Totally different spot than previous seasons as The Entrance channel has changed a lot.
But didn't seem to effect the prawns all school prawns no light required just put your net in the water and they swim in.
I was only there for an hour as I wanted to get home to watch the footy.
I left Marvin with them still running he's probably filled the bucket by now.
Very tasty. So sweat.

What's your recommended retrieve for those little prawns. Cast. Let it sink. Just a slow wind or do you add a bit of action as well.

I like black fish reports Ryder I can relate to them. A few were caught on the wall over the weekend as well but they're there one day gone the next.Hi Raiders,
I've been out of action fishing wise, due to some pretty scary back pain.
What started as a crick soon became spasms which would last 30 seconds.
I had to be driven home from work, laid up and drugged up for the weekend.
I could walk a bit, sort of looked a bit like this.image.png
I knew the boys would be going off the rocks but I just couldn't risk it.
Then my wife came down with exactly the same thing.
Doctor thought it could be related to a rib injury she sustained in Fiji, but now we think it's viral.
I chose a secluded little spot and fished with the wind to my back. It started slow but then the odd down.
It would go down and come back up. I was using weed as bait and thought ' cabbage eaters '
I made the switch and ended up with 4 in the bag, 2 dropped at my feet, and a heap of misses.
So the fish are coming back into the harbour, but they are a little selective about the bait.

Sorry to hear about your back I can relate to that as well.
A few years ago I was fishing the wall the perch were going off I done my back and fell in a heap on the ground. I couldn't move just laid there on the grass the boys were just kicking me a bit because I was in the way. No sympathy.
Finally the fish stopped biting and they carried me to my car.
Got to get your priorities right I suppose they were good fish.
I've fished and prawned with a tens machine and Back brace. Been carried out of the lake in the middle of the night with my waders on. Ha I couldn't get them off to drive home.
Anyway hope your better now Andrew.
Cheers Steve.

Hi guys, since finding blackfish weed is hard...
I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to grow the green weed that blackfish eat as bait in a tub or aquarium. It doesn't really seem hard replicating the ocean environment. If so, can you pleas share the information, thankyou
That's what it looks like out of the tank.
Cheers Steve.

I've had it in my tank now for 3 months. Still fresh as a daisy. Only wire weed. Not the soft stuff.
I kept it simple just used normal fresh water added salt from the aquarium shop I have a filter and airators which run non stop and a grow light which I turn off at night time.
Don't stir it just let it sit and take a bit from the top when you need it.
Add nothing. I've tried fish food etc. nothing. Top up the water every month due to evaporation.
I'm not sure it's growing but it's keeping very well.

Well done. Great fun and you don't need a net. Slowly get their head out of the water then a gentle lift.

Yes I remember that crow Bruce. Smart bird that one. Lol.Couple of nice healthy looking blackfish.
Problem with birds extends everywhere.
Beach worming and fishing for whiting on the Nth Entrance beach years ago with Stapo, damn crows got into my backpack, opened and drank my pineapple juice - smart birds those crows.
Just last weekend a bloody Pelican extended its neck and grabbed one of my 'scaled/gutted blackfish' from under my nose at the cleaning table at The Entrance last weekend - hope it appreciated the effort I made to gut and clean it.
