Thanks Jim.Fantastic Stapo,
I've enjoyed following this.
I just find this incredible.
Cheers
Jim
I even took it down to the wall at the entrance to show all my fishing buddies.
They've been following the build they had to as I kept telling them. Ha.

It sure does. I'm attempting to record it and put a link on here to YouTube. It has a very rich tone lovely bottom end and the strings ring. Big volume but not booming. That seriously is awesome, can you describe the sound a bit more. Does it hold a note well in resonance?
Apparently it's all in the bracing and kerfing inside. Plus the spruce timber on the soundboard has to be perfect thickness. You should hear the baggs pickup. Insane.

Thanks. Can't believe I made it from scratch. I knew it would sound good because it was made to the specifications but it sounds unbelievable. The tone and volume. Better than my mates Maton which I would have been happy if it sounded similar. If only I could play it. Ha.WOW!,
It looks fantastic.

Thanks. Yes fully insured very embarrassed.Ah right, yep that does make sense. That sort of thing will generally happen when its low tide.
Low tide means the lower part of the ramp is exposed with moss, very slippery you can't even stand on 2 feet. And to add to that, some ramps don't go all the way down on low tide, instead just drops off maybe a few inches into the sand. Yer mate I always avoid low tide when launching and retrieving. Poor fella wish him the best of luck.

He said it slipped on the weed. Maybe the trailer pulled in if it went over the back of the ramp. Council cleaned it up todayIs that car an automatic? It looks like it from the pic of the inside. I don't get how can an automatic car roll down, if you had it in Park, even with hand brake off. If its in Park gear it won't budge.

He was lucky a couple of council boys were passing and they had a winch on their vehicle. He rang insurance company and yes they right off because of the salt water. They arranged a tow truck.
The boat looked good tied up to the jetty.

A mate of mine launched his new boat today. I've seen this on you tube but never thought I'd see it in person.
Anyway he's not the first to do it and won't be the last.
Poor Marvin.

No fishing gear Norm. That hurts. I used to find the crisper better than the fridge part for your weed. Keep it dry or the water will go off.

I thought that was the highlight of the day. LolI actually forgot about the float retrieval, that was some skillful work!

Well said. I have seen the little Uni not work. But I like the mono myself. Bit more give in the line and I don't seem to pull as many hooks.Good stuff Stapo. It's patchy down here at the moment! Another month and the rocks should fire up. Ps lose the braid for blackies mate! A good mono greased with vasolein will do the trick. Try tying a uni knot of fine wool above your stopper over the line as a sliding knot. If your stopper moves that little knot will always mark your depth

No problems Luke now for the full storyGot up early yesterday morning and made the trip from Western Sydney to The Entrance, to learn how to catch the elusive blackfish. Met up with Raiders Stapo and Rut, who helped my partner and I get onto our first.
Very generous with bait, advice and gear, Stapo showed my partner how to do it with his setup, while I rigged up. Once I was in, we were both onto our first blackfish within 10 minutes! Through the day I had some issues with holding the right depth, as the float stoppers liked moving on my braid line.
Hung around until a bit after midday. My partner got two and I got three. Lost a fourth, hooked a doctor and ripped it right out of the fish's mouth! Also copped a bite from the filleting knife while I was bleeding the fish.
Once we were all packed up, we headed to the boat ramp to meet a few mates for a BBQ lunch in the picnic area. I made a pitt stop at the bathroom and when I came out, the fish were already filleted, so no photos. Sorry!
I had a great first time blackfishing, especially after I caught a few (and I think I caught the blackfish bug too!). Stapo and Rut, I can't thank you guys enough!
I get a pm from a raider who wants to have a go at black fishing.
Ok I'll meet you there 6.30am
After a night play cards with Bruce ( rut ) we hit the one and only spot at the moment where the fish are biting at 5.45am to get a spot.
Not knowing who or what was showing up Luke arrives with his fiancé ( Cassie ) mum and a friend.
I had two in the bag by then mum went off chasing bream I gave Luke a float, hook and stopper so while he was rigging up Cassie and I fished.
She pulled the first two in that I had hooked dogging Pelicans and comerants. I turn around and Luke has his first one. Pulled it up the wall as we don't use landing nets.
By then it was getting crowded shoulder to shoulder stuff. I was casting for Cassie because there was lines and floats everywhere she caught two on her own well done.
I look around and Luke has lost his float. There it was floating on its own. I cast just past and managed to get it back. Not sure how I did that but it worked.
Anyway he did very well and what a lovely couple we had bagged out by 9am. Luke had a little slip with the knife but all good.
Thanks to Bruce and The Entrance boys for their patience, banter and lack of swearing.
Forgot to take photos
So I'll see you two in the summer for a prawning lesson.
Cheers Steve.

Not sure it's growing but it's keeping quite well. Bagged out this morning with some nice fish. Kept it simple. Fresh water. Added salt. Filter. 2 airators a grow light which I turn off at night. Don't change the water or add any fish food. Just leave it in the thank and take a little bit off the top when I go fishing. That's a new slant on growing your own weed Steve. Interesting concept. How's the process work?
I tried it last year but I fiddled too much with it and it went brittle. Still strong and smells fresh at the moment.

Thanks. The weed is still strong and smells fresh. I don't think it will grow but it is keeping better than the same weed in a veg box also in the crisper. That tank sure looks the goods Steve!
