  1. Neil, mate I blame the braid, there is no stretch. But then again I stil have a bit of stink on me.

Things don't go quite to plan.

I switched to braid because I am using an Alvey Blackfish reel and the side cast option. The mono line just gets twisted.

Steve, I'm looking for the nitlon, haven't found it available. The Dango option is gone, and Sunline float line sinks, go figure.

Trevor, crab night goes very late, I wasn't sure I'd make it today, Andy didn't. Haha

I didn't start until 1pm, and it was racing within an hour.

It was really a reconnaissance mission after our chat last week.

And yes, the fish are there.

Sorry forgot to chase the nitlon up. I'll check it out this week. Tried the sunline the yellow one and I didn't like it.

  2. Fantastic!

Wish I had the available time.

Cheers and thanks for the ongoing post.

    Jim

I'm having a ball Jim. Even giving up some fishing time Saturday mornings. Unheard of.

  3. When you say a bit more than a Maton they range from $900 to about $5K...

Where does it sit in that price range?

    Great effort by the way.

That's a huge achievement. Even if its a formal course you can't do that sort of thing without a lot of skill.

    Cheers

    Jim

Ha no skill required. Well maybe a bit He's always there showing and watching. Won't let any average workmanship. There's all sorts of jigs and things to help. Young people. Ladies. School teachers.

The cost will depend on how many lessons it takes I recon mine might finish up around $2500.

  4. That seems like a pretty interesting hobby. Is the cost about in line with buying one yourself?

Probably a bit more than say a Maton. Cheaper and better than a USA made Martin.

  5. Nice work hew and an interesting little gadget. You must spend a lot of time on the net. Ha and they call me the gadget man amongst other things.

I've got tomorrow off work I'll have a little go in the morning that's if the wind is not too strong.

    Cheers Steve.

  6. If arthritis is too bad then I can help. I mean I can help taking the guitar off your hands [emoji12] a bad back won't prevent me from playing it hehehe

  7. Great project Steve. Will you be able to play it (are you a guitarist, too?) Cheers, Neil

    Thanks.

Hopefully I can still play. Arthritis is getting to the fingers. I do own a few acoustic and electric guitars but to play one you made yourself will be special. Can't wait.

  8. Steve and The Entrance crew you must be mad. That wind coming off the lake would have blown you to New Zealand.

I am waiting for some floating line ordered on the internet, I think it will be OK however could not find the brand you use Steve. (pm the site address thanks).

My caravan is going in for warranty repair (the hot shower is not working the best) as soon as it is done I will be there. (getting old)

I have weighed all of Tim's float and worked out they need a 10gm sinker and attached the sinker to the float (daughters swimming pool has had floats all over it). Purchasing a 2500 shimarno reel today to match the rod.

I have filleted some of my fish and will smoke them next week, by the way when I was cleaning them the bl----dy pelicans got two. You said don't feed them there was eight watching me and one got behind me and when I bent down to pick up my knife that was it two gone. So every time I got a fish out of the net I accidentally put the hose on them to get them away from the table.

I like fishing with Huy because he has the same problems as me not catching them like you and Tim.

    Good on you Norm

Hew is catching a few now but we left early just before the wind hit we seen it coming got 7 fish for Bruce.

The Entrance is flooded at the moment so the fishing is hopeless will take a few weeks to settle down. 8afa946df22b89e36c41392f2c7a923f.jpg

I still have weed I got it before the rain.
