I too was on a budget and looking at the 420 Seaway but went for the 440 Seaway which was only $1,000 extra. It was the best decision I have ever made, as the boat is heaps bigger with higher sides etc. They were both a couple of grand cheaper than the equivalent Quintrex.

Huey, you mentioned somewhere that when switching to XD-100 you should change the oil filter. Pardon my ignorance but where is it, in the oil tank or in the engine. Also are oil filters generic or are there different kinds?

Bias Boating (am I allowed to say that here?) have them in their catelogue and they do mail order! I have also been thinking of installing a couple of them but am a bit scared of where the underfloor supports are before I start cutting holes in my floor.

I have just got the standard cheapo charger!

I haven't used my boat for a couple of months (don't ask!) and was wondering whether I should charge my battery. It is a Supercharge battery and the charge indicator is all green.

I have seen those and wondered how they went. I was thinking of either cutting holes in the environet or just buying a big old fashioned snapper net.

Dave Any chance of you posting some pictures of the holes you cut in your environet as I have been thinking about doing the same for some time now. The first time we used it I lost a huge flathead as my son wasn't strong enough to get the environet under the fish and since then it has just sat in the garage roof!

We usually stay at a place called Alonga Cottages right on the water at Sussex Inlet. They also hire tinnies and have accommodation and boat hire packages.

We go to Alonga Cottages at Sussex Inlet. the great thing about this place is that they have a 'marina' which means that you can leave your boat in the water. There is also a boat ramp 100m up the road.

Besides warranty the other issue is insurance. If your boat is rated to 80hp and you are running a 90hp and something happens your insurance company will say "see ya". This is the same as if you are running your car on bald tyres.
