  1. Cheers paikea! I was impressed too. Normally she sits in the cabin but her older brothers weren't there. She was determined to catch a fish. What's better, she really enjoyed eating it too!
  2. Nice report there mate! It's very hard to land a good fish solo. That would have been disappointing but you still managed a few. Well done Cheers scratchie!!!
  3. Cheers mr Groper! Their excitement is infectious. They must get from me. I still carry on like a kid when I pull in a nice fish.
  4. Yep, that's the way I've been fishing for a while now, with the loop you showed me. I feel I've had more success tying it straight to the jig! Either that, or my action has improved.
  5. Great stuff baz. It was nice to meet you and I'm glad I could help you get amongst some fish. Good luck with your house hunting and I might see you on the water again one day! Cheers scratchie!!!
  6. That's a cracking flatty mate! Lots about ATM but aren't they great to see them on the end of the line. Well done Cheers scratchie!!!
  7. Thanks for all your comments! My kids love going fishing and now they are all using SP's, there's more time for me to fish!
  8. Thanks meg. I don't use snaps, only for gamefishing. I only use loop knots with hard bodies. With SP's, I tie my leader straight to the jig head. I will use the same jig but change type of plastics I use.
  9. Thanks for sharing. Never seen one up here before but if I do, now I know what they are! Cheers scratchie!!!
  10. G'day raiders, Spent the day today with my wife and youngest 2 children drifting around the bay throwing SP's and chasing a few flatty for a feed. It was perfect conditions for cruising around but the fishing was a bit tougher. I managed a nice lizard on a 5inch jerk shad in pink. Caught a few more undersize ones and played around changing plastics each drift. It is funny that what works one day, may not work the next. Today the pink jerk shad was the winner but on other days it's been, 80mm squidgy fish and 5in jerk shad in pilchard and pearl. We all caught a few fish but the most excitement came from my daughter. She was patient all day and cast continuously every drift waiting for her turn. And them it happened, dad, dad, I've got one. She wound it in and I didn't want to let her down like her brothers failed netting attempt last time. So with one scoop, in the net she went and the smile says it all. Finished up catching a few squid as well for bait next outing. Thanks for reading, Cheers scratchie!!!
  11. Great stuff waz! A bream that size goes pretty hard. And the addiction to SP's continues! Well done Cheers scratchie!!!
  12. Great report mate! And good on the GF for having a go. You caught a few and had a good day out, that's all that matters! Well done Cheers scratchie!!!
  13. Try another area, get your boat fixed and concentrate on one target species. Profess that and then try another. You'll get there, don't stress and just think about what your doing! Good luck next time! Cheers scratchie!!!
  14. Well done Ty. It was a good fish, you played it well and congrats on your PB. I know your looking forward to eating that one. Lucky there was some helpful fishos at the ramp, as the tide was rising.
  15. So you have compression, you have spark. Is the fuel getting in there??? You may have a blockage from your primer bulb? When you cord start it, does it kick over and run? If it does and doesn't run on key start, your starter motor maybe dry or buggered. That's all I can think of. The "pop" could have been too much fuel in the chamber. And smoke with a 2 stroke is normal. Cheers scratchie!!!
  16. When you removed the spark plugs, did you check to see if there was any water or precipitation around the plug sockets??? By using the petrol that was in the old tank, if may have had some water in it, if it hasn't been used for a while. I'm not a mechanics bum hole but I always use the principal that a motor needs- compression, fuel, ignition and I go from there. Cheers scratchie!!!
  17. That sounds like a plan! Can you use bait on a fly rod??
  18. Great stuff luc. Good to see you getting more use out of rods than your previous area. 39cm raider record ay??? Me thinks I might go buy an airplane rod! Haha. Well done champ Cheers scratchie!!! P.s you'd have more luck landing a hairtail on a fly rod than diesel would on a 12gang hook I've made him. Lol

Based on that distance, your motor and fuel tank. No problem at all. In good weather, you should be able to get out there, troll around for a couple of hours if you wished and make it back to the ramp with plenty of fuel. I have a 75merc and travel 16km to Broughton island all the time. Troll around, change locations and make it back with plenty of fuel and I only have a 50lt tank. Cheers scratchie!!!
  24. Great report Ray and well done on your placings. I know you look forward to this comp and it looked like a good time was had by all. That's a cracking barra and something I only dream of. It would take a good team to land that monster! Well done Cheers scratchie!!!
  25. Land based spencer is always worth a shot or up at wisemans ferry. Or anywhere along that road. Just east of spencer there's a rock wall called neverfail. There's a deep hole within casting distance and fishes well on a slack tide. You can pull the car up off the roadside right at the spot. Good luck! Cheers scratchie!!!
