  1. Nice dolly mate! Keep at it and you'll get one! I find the bigger ones are a bit deeper when they are schooling. Livies work best down deep if you can get them past the rats!! Cheers scratchie!!!
  2. Frustration is just a part of fishing! It happens sometimes to the best of us. It's the darker days that make the lighter ones more rewarding! Cheers scratchie!!!
  3. Congrats yarra! You have made a life decision there and power to you! Cheers scratchie!!!
  4. Cheers Mr. Groper. You'll be seeing a lot more with the 3 months I have off! What else would you do with your time? Lol
  5. And again........... Sorry raiders, you might get sick of my posts as I have the next 3 months off and nothing to do! Cheers scratchie!!!
  6. I'll add a tip to your generous advise for the hawkesbo! Tip- bait presentation is always important. During a raging current that the hawkesbo provides, when using hawkesbo prawns or pillies. Half hitch the tail to the hook with your leader and it will prevent it bunching up! This is a proven method in that area and will result in more bites! Cheers scratchie!!!
  7. Well done mate! Great king there and video to match. I'm no video expert but next time the writing needs to be bolder so I could read it or I'm going blind. But really enjoyed it! Cheers scratchie!!!
  8. That's great stuff. Well done to the young fella! Cheers scratchie!!!
  9. Well done mate! Did you fish from the rocks at Barry park?? It's a good spot there for big squid too! The mozies are a killer ATM! Cheers scratchie!!!
  10. That's a fantastic effort especially on a solo trip! Double hook up!!! Hmmm that would have been interesting to try work that one out! Great effort and photos. It just goes to show how well those lures work! Cheers scratchie!!!
  11. Not catching fish can be broken down to so many variables like what has been highlighted by paikea. It is not just based on luck or lack of experience. Ask some of the gamefishing guys. All the experience in the world and can still come home with zeros! It is those bad days that makes us addicted anglers hang to get back out there! There is merit in posting either a successful or not so successful outing, knowing that the feedback or comments provided on this site, may just hold the key or insipiration to assisting you on your next outing! My advise to less experienced anglers is you have found the right site to improve your skills. Read and ask questions. Where possible, try and catch up with a fellow raider. Fishing is a sport that you will never know everything and you are always learning! But at the end of the day, it's fun trying to work it all out. Cheers scratchie!!!
  12. Fair call mate! Good luck to you! I'm blessed living so close to the water! I used to struggle when I lived in the mtns! With your great captures, at least you've got something to talk about for the next 12 months!
  13. Awesome mate. Great to hear! Just love the anticipation of a strike and to get a few boat side! Well done Cheers scratchie!!!
  14. Nice work mate! They are everywhere ATM. Still great fun and make for a great feed! Well done Cheers scratchie!!!
  15. That's was certainly a great read Brian! Well done to you and your mates for sticking it out and getting your rewards! Don't know how that could do you for the year though??? That would only motivate me for more! Great effort! Cheers scratchie!!!
  16. G'day raiders, I got a generous invite last night from fellow raider fishythings and who am I to begrudge a fishing invite. So we agreed on a gentlemans start of 7am. Loaded the tank with livies and headed out to fad. We got there and were greeted by a nice water temp and fair seas but impending showers. Not fazed we through out some livies and instantly bang we're on! A nice little one but we wanted bigger and we didn't have to wait long! We played around for a bit more, caught a few and dropped plenty but it wasn't our real target so we moved on and trolled some lures before the tide change. Looked for beaks for about 2-3hrs but nothing. Then we past some fish traps and bang, the long corner goes, wasn't peeling much and we suspected a Dollie, so I grabbed the rod, it was a decent fish and then I lost it. Tried again, hooked up and lost it again. Then we stuck to our plan, worked a lot of water, found bait and marked a couple but zeros! On the way back, with a few livies left we hit the fads again. The bite was good but not as hot as the morning although we still managed a few for the table It was a great day all the same and I would like to thank fishythings for the invite and being a true host. It was great to meet you and share a day out on the water! Cheers scratchie!!!
  17. Well done Damian! We had a good day on them too! They eat up well, so enjoy your feed! Cheers scratchie!!!
  18. I'm out here now and haven't turned a reel. Got a few dollies though!
  19. Went to the weigh in today for the interclub. Plenty of boats amongst the fish today and a lot of blues being weighed in. A young lady also broke the NSW record for her blue of 184.5kg on 15kg. There was a 205kg mako and plenty of yellow fin and dollies tagged! About time port fired!!!
  20. Just had to go this morning too!!! It was pretty messy out the front but still managed a couple of Bonnie's! Also had my first ever inspection from maritime. Great to see them out and about! Cheers scratchie!!!
  21. G'day raiders, After spending some time in the blue mtns and only been relegated to bass fishing, I couldn't wait for this weather any longer and decided to take the family out to chase some jewies! They weren't that excited but came anyway! The tides were wrong, no bait fish in sight and only armed with Cali squid the outlook wasn't great. But with patience and persistence we managed a few fish and a nice Jew from the mrs! All fish were released... Just great to be back out on the water again. And with a lot of time off coming up the weather won't matter so much! Tight lines all...... Cheers scratchie!!!
  22. Well done mate! I bet you had a few more casts after that too??? It's always the way, about to call it quits, then bang! Great work Cheers scratchie!!!
  23. Of course that's what you do Mr. Groper. It's the best way to ease back into things! Well done champ! Cheers scratchie!!!
