  1. Great work mate! And to do it solo is a real challenge. Glad you mentioned the safety aspect. Gamefishing is not really a solo sport as there are too many variables! Cheers scratchie!!!
  2. Well done mate! Sounds like there's dollies everywhere! I have sneaky suspicion that you have a new raider record there! Cheers scratchie!!!
  3. Geez luc, why do you let the truth get in the way of a good story!!! You know we are all fishos! How big was that fish?????????????????? Lol... Great urban myth though!
  4. Well done and congrats! It's the first you'll never forget. Now when you think fishing in your sleep, all you'll hear is that line screaming! Great work guys! Cheers scratchie!!!
  5. Unlucky on the rod mate! Bet you never do that again. Sometimes it costs us plenty to learn lessons, but that's life! Did you manage any other fish while you were there? Or were you to disappointed to continue? Cheers scratchie!!!
  6. It does help to know where you are fishing. However, most headlands hold live bait. Burley a little, use a handline unweighted or with a small split shot and small or long shank hook. Small piece of bread, pillie prawn etc. you should have no trouble. Sabiki jigs will mainly catch yakkas but will also catch a lot of unwanted fish and are a nuisance. Cheers scratchie!!!
  7. Glad you got that off your chest blackfish! Hope you can enjoy your next fishing outing without any of those distractions! Cheers scratchie!!!
  8. Lol........ But you wouldn't be laughing if you are a panthers fan!
  9. Welcome James! I hope you find all you need to know on our awesome site! There's something for everyone here. I also fish the Nepean on the odd occasion. Enjoy the site! Cheers scratchie!!!
  10. Thank you for the feedback on the site. The members on here are certainly who make it the great site that it is. Luc (trout stalker) is one of those generous members. There are many more and I hope you continue enjoying this site!Cheers scratchie!!!
  11. Very good questions peter and I sometimes have the same trouble myself. Not sure of the answer but for example....... If you have a 2500 reel that can take 180yards of 6lb. I would use 50yards of 10lb mono then wind on my 125yards of 6lb berkley fireline. Sometimes this is short of a full spool. However, if I hit the backing on a fish, I think I'm under the gun with that line anyway and wish I had my 10-15lb line and a 4000 reel, if you get my drift. But I understand your frustration. Sometimes it's just trial and error! Cheers scratchie!!!
  12. I agree with trout boy also. Another factor is the amount of time you spend on the water! The more time, the more chance you are of catching a fish. Barometer pressure I way more important IMO and experience, especially freshwater fishing! Cheers scratchie!!!
  13. Girdled Scalyfin (Parma) Parma unifasciata
  14. Well done on the fish fellas. The hawkesbo is very tidal and by the sounds of it you hit all the right areas. The hawkesbo prawns are the best bait and will catch nearly everything in that system. A small tip for that area, half hitch the tails when fishing with prawns. Will result in more hook ups! Unlucky about the lure, does happen sometimes! Cheers scratchie!!!
  15. Never heard of a wallet fish stewy!!! Are they in the raider records??? Or is that you secret word for carp! haha
  16. Jamie Lyon and Michael nines would have to be the biggest sooks in the game. Adam Blair and Mitchell Pearce the most over rated. IMO Cheers scratchie!!!
  17. Mate, you wanna start stretching your arms for next weeks trip! Cos I plan to get you something that will pull them out your sockets
  18. Can you please tell Donna, we are apologising now in advance!!!
  19. Lol..... Funniest thing I've heard all day!
  20. I'm sure there's a few of us yakking rookies had the same thing happen. I know I have, so I feel your pain. The therapy side of losing a great rod and reel was to go out and buy 3 more. Just incase lol Cheers scratchie!!!
  21. Apple tree bay is probably the most secure as it is in a national park but will incur a fee. Parsley bay is the other alternative. It is free and well lit, this is the ramp I'll be using! Cheers scratchie!!!
  22. That certainly is one big yakka! Lol Congrats on a magnificent catch and potential raider record! A catch of a lifetime! Well done Cheers scratchie!!!
  23. The title should read....."Learn from a 3 year old" Great stuff, love the pump and wind. What a little champion! Cheers scratchie!!!
  24. Well done mattyg! Nice simple video. Capture, smiles and a fabulous release. Thanks for sharing! Cheers scratchie!!!
  25. That's a great catch on a lure! At night, what type of lure were you using? Well done Cheers scratchie!!!
