  1. Welcome to fishraider mate and that is a fantastic first report. There's a lot to learn when it comes to sp fishing but you seem to have a good setup and the idea already. There is a social on lures on the 4th may you might find interesting. Well done Cheers scratchie!!!
  2. For a 1hour drive, the breakwall at Nelson bay would be a great spot. Very well lit all night, chance of a Jew or king. Plenty of bream and blackfish. Not far from the police station and security patrol the marina all night. Cheers scratchie!!!
  3. Good stuff witha! It's great feeling christening a new setup and having some success! Well done Cheers scratchie!!!
  4. All good mate! There's heaps of them up here. And my son often swims with them whilst body boarding of birubi. it doesn't bother him as it as normal occurrence There's some big rays our there, just let them be! Cheers scratchie!!!
  5. Stingrays are often bycatch of sitting your bait on the bottom. They put up a great fight but are no good for the table, so release is the preferred method. It's massive, so let it be! Cheers scratchie!!!
  6. I have the tyrnos 50 and they are awesome. I have caught marlin, tuna and heaps more and never looked liked dropping them. They are the same setup as tiagras but not gold. Great reel. Cheers scratchie!!!
  7. Ray, you are certainly stirring me up aren't you????
  8. I think tough going is an understated . All fish weighed in were well down on last year. Next year in taking my lucky charm, my wife and kids!
  9. You've got me excited. I'm heading up there in October and can't wait!!! Nice fish! Cheers scratchie!!!
  10. Depends where you fishing and what for??? Bread is obviously the best burley but mixed with prawn shells, pillies and tuna oil is a great cocktail. Cheers scratchie!!!
  11. Nice haul there mate. Tailor off the beach make excellent Jew bait. You could also butterfly them and send them out. A snelled two hook rig is the go and make sure your gear is up to it! Cheers scratchie!!!
  12. How are you baz? Yeah it was tough going. Friday was the pick until 2pm. Great tourno though. Very professionally done! Looking forward to next year already!
  13. Cheers dom. It's also great to meet people that are as mad about fishing as me, and you are! Mate, we have barely scratched the surface up here and I'm sure there are many more trips to come. Yft on light gear, oh yeah! Only a little fella but that rod of yours didn't miss a beat. Nearly accidentally took it home with me! Lol. See you soon champ! Cheers scratchie!!!
  14. G'day raiders, Just a quick report from the comp over the weekend. Friday- headed out with fellow raider on board weekend detention and were greeted by some awesome weather, so the decision was made to chase some beaks. We worked hard all day, changing lures, baits and methods. Managed to get 6 legal dollies all returned as I had a fridge full. 2 really decent sized stripe tuna and unfortunately we hooked but dropped 2 marlin. About 2pm the southerly hit and we headed for home. Saturday- had a gentlemans start at 7am and with the wind and swell up we decided to work fingal headland. After filling up on livies, we anchored up and sent out some livies hoping for a longtail or king. Started a good berley trail and after picking through some rubbish fish, we started to get some nicer snapper and bream, and you could feel the bite hotting up. This is also where it ended as we lost our anchor. So we headed in for lunch and a replace my anchor. Went back out in the arvo to chase Jew. Chased a few livies and squid and set up for the tide sunset in wait. A few stories, few beers and sorry to say, no fish! Then we were pretty much blown off the water by a storm and called it quits for the night. Sunday- weather was shocking and the decision was made not to fish. So I attended my boys rep league duties. It was overall not a bad weekend and it was great to catch up with fellow raiders, diesel, weekend detention, Oziodin, Dom and many other fishos I know. At the weigh in, it was obvious that the fishing was hard going especially offshore and the size of the fish this year were a lot smaller. 440 boats participated and approximately a 1000 anglers. Tight lines all, Cheers scratchie!!!

  20. G'day raiders, Just a quick report. Headed out this morning with fellow raider Dom. Thought we'd collect a bit of bait for the tbft starting tomorrow and pull some lures along the way!
