  4. Mr groper, Your a legend. You always bring home a good feed and I love reading your posts. You give some really great info, except GPS marks, lol. I think I need to organize a trip with you at some stage. I would be willing to share my spots if you are ever up this way! I love chasing big reds and can't wait for some good weather to get out there. Those squid are massive and if you have any spare can you parcel post them to me. The jewy up here would love them! Until your next post, tight lines. Cheers scratchie!!!
  5. Thanks for the tips! That's pretty much the same as flatty. No guts, no scale, just fillet with skin off! Cheers scratchie!!!
  6. I wouldn't say addicted but it was good fun! I generally dream about the rod peeling off. There know doubt though without people posting on how they catch luderick, I wouldn't have even bothered. Glad I did! Cheers scratchie!!!
  7. It's great taking the kids fishing and if he can get a mate involved even better. Keeps him entertained while you can concentrate on fishing. Even if your a novice, start reading the posts on this site of the types of rigs sinkers bait etc you can use. Also the area and time and tides people fish. It will help you immensely. Good luck! Cheers scratchie!!!
  8. You too! It's Thursday and the little fella has already reminded me it "fishing day". So I'm busy cleaning so I can get out there! But it's pouring here ATM. So hopefully by time I'm finished it stops! Cheers scratchie!!!

  10. Mate, I'd fish in anything other than a cyclone! Good luck! Cheers scratchie!!!
  11. Yeah I did. As well as SP's. but I figured with all the cabbage and weed sitting on the rocks, the chance of blackfish was good.Cheers scratchie!!!
  12. Nice bag of fish there! Well done! Cheers scratchie!!!
  13. Thanks for the info grant! I didnt know that jewies would eat a fillet of blackfish! I target them in the bay with mullet fillet or live/butterflied tailor or squid! Will definitely give it another go soon! Cheers scratchie!!!
  14. Nice work on te mixed bag!!! I though nbdshroom post was very clever. But I'm with jew, I'm definitely Jew a big Jew! Cheers scratchie!!!
  15. Thanks frantic. I did bleed them straight away because every post I've seen they all seem to have there throats cut. I didn't know to remove skin, learnt that while eating. My culinary skills are pretty good though, so I give the fish respect and not over cook it. The kids loved it anyway and the eldest said it was his new favourite. So with a bit more reading and studying I'll be adding luderick to the menu! Cheers scratchie!!!
  16. Well done swordy! There's nothing like a jewy! No matter what size, they are a beautiful fish. Nice Michael Jackson gloves btw! Cheers scratchie!!!
  17. Nice fish butch! Can't wait for it to fire up here with the snapper. Already getting some reports through! Well done. Cheers scratchie!!!
  18. Thanks nbdshroom, mate I didn't think I'd be putting up a luderick report either! But once I realised I have no clue on sp's, that was the only alternative! Tastes great though, with a lemon and dill sauce! Yummmo!Cheers scratchie!!!
  19. Surprised hawkesbass!!! You don't eat seafood? Thanks for the feedback, I ended up filleting them! Cheers scratchie!!!
  20. G'day raiders, Well, I had a couple of hours to kill today, so I decided to take a walk around the rocky outcrops of sunny corner, a renown spot up here but I had not been before. After a 15min trek in, I arrive at the cliff face and scoped the area. It was low tide but the swell was still pushing in hard. I've never gone fishing without bait before so this was a first for me. Armed with a few brand new SP'S and metals that have been in the box for years, I surveyed the area and picked my spot. I began to toss metals and plastics for about 30mins for one bite I think. After that I realised I didn't know what I was doing, so with no bait I looked in my tackle box to find a long float. After remembering reading posts from people like stormy etc, I sort of remembered some explaining how to make a rig for luderick. So I thought I'd give it a go, found some cabbage, trusted the rig I had made and in she goes! Within 30secs, I get my first down. Didn't land it but ahhhhh the rig worked. So I rebaited, tossed some burley and my rig and again another down, this time I'm on but 10secs later I dropped it. So out again and bang I'm on, played the fish and after a short fight up comes my first ever blackie! The fish goes 36cm, not sure weight but looked really healthy. With confidence booming I try again and within minutes I'm on again and break my PB on landing the next one. This one goes 39cms and very fat and healthy! And I'm delighted with my catch! Overall, I had 6 downs, dropped 2 and landed 2. Was really pleased with my catch and it made the trek out very easy! Questions for all you rock fishos: A. What's the usual size of blackies and are the ones I caught of good size? B. How do you cook them? Whole or fillet? So thanks, to all the raiders that are providing info on rigs, techniques etc on their posts because if it was not for this site I would be walking back empty handed. Thanks for reading! Cheers scratchie!!!
