  1. Good on you mate! I've seen them in the bay this week a couple of times busting up around the anchorage. The weekend however was like a washing machine out front, so couldn't get out there. Where a outs around fingal were you when you got the second one?? Cheers scratchie!!!
  2. Without sounding like a whinger! As most of us fishos do is check the weather on a regular basis! There are many different ways you can source the information yet most of it is via the Internet. From the 3 sites I use, all of them said all week that Saturday and Sunday were less than a meter swell and less than 4knot winds with smooth seas. This was certainly not the case, swell up, wind up and the sea resembled a washing machine! What a disappointment for me after a long week. I reckon I could predict the weather more accurately with the instruments available to them! What do you think? Cheers scratchie!!!
  3. Awesome damo. Good to see you get your clients onto the fish! Shame about the drop offs though! Cheers scratchie!!!
  4. Awesome. Great looking fish there and a big smile to go with it! Cheers scratchie!!!
  5. Agree.... The dogs have certainly lost their bite!Cheers scratchie!
  6. You didn't catch one over there with a rod hanging out its mouth did you??? I lost one the other day and it was last seen heading towards NZ at a rate of knots!! Nice fish there, we can only dream! Cheers scratchie!!!
  7. Nice fish mate! It is great to be on the water especially when it's been a while! Hopefully you get back out soon! Cheers scratchie!!!
  8. Yes the outages are very annoying but I know it's best for the site! Cheers scratchie!!!
  9. If that was me, I would have broken the kayak speed record! You gotta laugh at the mixed emotions this guy displays about the ordeal. Oh no, oh yes, woot woot and then the realisation that this shark is still around! Very entertaining! Cheers scratchie!!!
  10. Oh, what a shame!!! A 94cm king on the last cast!!!! Would be happy with that on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or any cast/downrig for that matter' Cheers scratchie!!!
  11. Well done champ! Mahi Mahi on the BBQ is the best!!! Cheers scratchie!!!
  12. Agree mr groper! There's not really any occasional fishos here! For myself..... I only occasionally don't fish! Lol Cheers scratchie!!!
  13. Bloody oath Noel!! The weather looks like it turns to pooh on Tuesday onwards! So barring a tragedy, I'm out there! I just need to let the mrs know!Cheers scratchie!!!
  14. Mate, our definition of hard work definitely vary! Only catching one or two is hard work, but you have a smorgasbord!!! Good on ya!!! Cheers scratchie!!!
  15. Thanks for that! And I'm glad you spell your name the right way!!! Cheers scratchie aka Jeff
  16. That was insane!!! Oh, if you only landed that!!! Cheers scratchie!!!
  17. Hey fishingphase!! Will let you all in on a little secret, the reason my alias and boat is named scratchie is because it was the first thing I bought after winning 100k on a $5 scratchie!!! Well what else would you do with it!!! Cheers scratchie!!!
  18. Yep. No rock cod on this arm!! Cheers scratchie!!!
  19. Can't wait. The weather better stay as predicted. Referring to your post yesterday, there is no cure mate!! I sometimes hear that reel screaming off in my sleep and wake up to find I'm dreaming!!! Oh the disappointment. But only being 12 mins from the boat ramp is some consolation. My wife also understands, when I've gotta go, I've gotta go. Otherwise I'm one angry husband. You will learn to live with it like people get use to warts! But warts don't cost the same. But two things I live by which help me justify my fishing time are..... Life is short, and your dead a long time! So just get out there and fish your heart out! I also intend on tattooing a cross for every marlin I catch!!! That's life! Cheers scratchie!!!
  20. Just hope I see one on the weekend!!! Saturday up here is 24deg 2knots wind, swell 0.7 @ 18.5 secs apart! I'm out there for sure! Cheers scratchie!!!
  21. Mate, great read! Just keep getting out there and you will work it out! You managed at least one targeted species so you aren't far off the mark. Keep at it and good luck! Cheers scratchie!!!
  22. After seeing the post by yarraone, it was time to fulfill my destiny. I have always said to my family that the day I catch a marlin on my boat, with my rods, I will get a tattoo of one! Well that day has come and I'm a man of my word. Even my kids that were on board that day said touch the leader dad, then you've gotta get tattoo! So here it is.... And yes they hurt. But not as much as trolling for 8hrs without turning a reel. Cheers scratchie!!!
  23. Great read mate, and you gotta be happy to restock the fridge! I bet the fish wished you stayed in NZ. Cheers scratchie!!!
  24. What about leather jackets on the bitten hooks? Do they frequent that area? Just a thought! Congrats on the feed btw. Cheers scratchie!!
  25. Me too! It's a fair way n/e of broughton but I know in oct-dec that kings are plenty in that area and the amount of boats there resembles a marina. But I'm not sure what's there this time of year! Cheers scratchie!!!
