    Coast guard App for iPhone

    Was watching tv today as there was no fishing to be done and I seen an App for iPhone, not sure android, but you can log in and off on your phone and the coast guard can track you via satellite.

    The App can be found in the App Store under coast guard and its free. Even if you forget to check back in they can track you home. Might be helpful to some!!

    Thank you to everyone that replied. I'm glad it brought back memories for some and I hope it inspired others to do the same! That is what quality time is about! Not iPods and Xbox!

    My little mate and me have agreed to go fishing every Thursday we can.

    hahaha you legend, I've got a harbour cruise today and its going to kill me I can't troll a lure behind the cruise ship lol I might flick some squid jigs once we return but everyone's going to think I'm nuts!!! Tight lines,Shakeel

    Get a cheap bib lure, about 50m of 30lb line and tie it off the back of the boat! I did that last harbour cruise I went on. I didn't catch anything but it made the cruise worth it, to know I had I line in the water!

    Hi sydangler, haven't heard many reports lately. I do know with all this bad weather we've been having, the water running out the hunter is dirty. Don't like your chances this weekend either, it's pouring down ATM which will add to that. Sorry I don't have more for you!

    After all the terrible weather we've been having up here, I found an excuse to take my little mate fishing for an hour. We set off to our local spot with our $5 servo prawns and was greeted by a moderate n/e wind. Not deterred, I baited up and out went the lines, tap tap bang and I was on first cast, knowing it was a small fish over went the rod to my 3yo. Big fish I here dad as he winds the line, to which I reply "yeah mate". The smile on his face was priceless. He brings it in and yeah small squire. He was very proud of himself and wanted to throw it back in. So I took it off the hook and passed to him to return it to the water. As he tossed it, he must have brushed its spike. "Bit me dad". Oh well mate, let's go again ay! Yep! He passed me a prawn I baited up and out it went. This step was repeated several times with my son saying "prawns don't bite dad". I said no mate there's a good reason for that, anyway! We managed a few more small fish and a bream about 24cm. It was a great time spent with my little mate and he learnt that prawns don't bite but fish do! Which was repeated all the way home!

    And I learnt that a $5 pack of prawns can provide a great hours entertainment and bonding with your boy!

    No worries mate, let me know how you go with it. If you go to bias and are as technically challenged as me it might pay to chat to them about using it. This one is in a plain white box so its a bit hard to find. They have a number of smaller bubble wrapped kits for buckets that look similar.     Andrew, your tactics on trolling are intriguing! For some of us raiders that are starting out or know a little bit. Can you post something on how to set the spread, lengths and speed they should be trolled at if possible. Also if you have any scent blazers you use for kings!
