  1. “Give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day, teach him how to fish and he’ll eat forever”. Nice work JonD. I love teaching people how to fish. A Very rewarding experience! Kudos to you! cheers scratchie!!!
  2. Awesome report Jon. No matter what age, kids just want to catch something. Glad he’s like your adventures! But no snapper??? 😝 cheers scratchie!!!
  3. No worries Frank. If you get the ok 👌 we’ll get you on a boat 100%. Let’s just hope we continue to progress with the lifting of restrictions and the weather gods are kind to us. If anyone knows of a good long range forecast, let’s say two week window then I’d be interested to know of that! cheers scratchie!!!
  4. Not the same area but you got well and truly bent over! Haha 😂 I keep telling you tighter drag. Hopefully next time you listen! You’ve lost quite a few good fish up there. Maybe next trip it’s your turn 👍
  5. Anytime rummers! That’s what I’m here for 👍 Thanks champ. Magnificent indeed and is in the process of being moulded!
  6. Thanks Donna. And this site does not function without YOU, period! It has been great to see returning members and certainly a lot of new members entering the forum. After all this time I still love reading everyone’s fishing reports and the amount of help offered either in the chat section or someone needing help with boat issues is just awesome! What a great community we have here and that is why we outlast all others! Tight lines all, cheers scratchie!!!
  7. Just a thought, maybe some of the tagging programs available to anglers. If anyone’s participates? What species? How to get involved? Etc etc cheers scratchie!!!
  8. Awesome Jeremy! Love those cold nights on the Hawkesbo. Great fun to target. cheers scratchie!!!
  9. Save me two blue ones please 🙏🙏🙏
  10. Welcome to the site Warren. I’m sure as a long time fisherman, you have a few stories you could tell. Look forward to them! cheers scratchie!!!
  11. Good report and great advice! Better luck on your next session. At least you feed the kids! cheers scratchie!!!
  12. What is the size of your boat? And what options for up here have you looked at so far? Mechanic no problem! There are a few good ones depending if your boat needs slipping or not! cheers scratchie!!!
  13. The whole meet and greet will depend on restrictions at the time! Generally after fishing all day no one really wants to cook. So I was thinking West Diggers. Cheap meals and probably in the centre of accommodation!
  14. Sorted Toby! It will be great to have you come up!
  15. Thanks Rummers. You could probably launch your tinny at boat Harbour and have a go! Some good reef systems there! Thanks Toby! Yes mate it is a beautiful place!
  16. So many kings around at the moment. Good to see you got a few decent ones! Well done 👍 cheers scratchie!!!
  17. Hey hey hey, awesome mate! They are some decent kings. I can only image the different ways you will cook them and I’m salivating 😋 Good to see you did some searching for yourself and it paid dividends. A mark is a mark and a good place to start. But fish have tails and they swim too! Lol A very nice solo trip indeed. I hope you gave yourself a hi 5 👋 cheers scratchie!!!
  18. Awesome stuff guys! The fishing might have been slow but you look like you enjoyed yourselves and that’s the main thing! 👍 cheers scratchie!!!
  19. Yes mate! Taste just like all others as long as you don’t over cook them!
  20. Sorry JonD. You’ll have to come up and experience it for yourself! 👍
  21. Both snapper went 95cm Mick. Don’t try and rip me off 1cm lol 😂 The other was caught 21/9/18 right near where whiskers hides 🤔
  22. Cheers BN It took all my knowledge to land this one and some! Agree, I hope there’s not another lockdown 😢
  23. Thanks Luke. Hard call but targeting any fish and being successful is rewarding. Wether it’s whiting, flatty snapper etc. Jew vs Snapper...... Well Jew fishing is more of a bait and wait approach. You know the locations, time tide etc and you sit there with your live bait waiting for a strike. Usually your outfit, leaders, hooks etc are a lot more gauged for a big fish. And after a Jew has made its first run they usually come in belly up. Chasing Big snapper on 20lb line with soft plastics requires so much more technical knowledge, hundreds of casts and then when you finally hook up to a monster and you know it. It is heart in mouth stuff. This fish was caught in only 10m of water. There were so many things I had to get right to land it. So for me, give me snapper any day!!! cheers scratchie!!!
