  3. Sorry Sam we were hoping for a few more string pullers! Still happy with a few fish!
  4. Oh we did but only when they came close enough to the boat!
  5. In those conditions it was about 1:15hrs from soldiers ramp!
  6. Thanks baz! Get well soon champ. Plenty of fish out there! Conditions were absolutely perfect out there! In fact to nice so I think the fish had a day off too! We still managed a few so no complaints. But there was a lot of casting. Cheers Sam. As I said it was slow. We used sps all day and not a bait in the water. Cheers rick! Yes mate, there still are a few in the mix. All between the Little gibber and north rock!
  7. The winter months are certainly the best time for them. There numbers are in volume so much so that they wrecked my night snapper fishing two weeks ago! We probably boated 30 of them all well over 30cm plus and lost quite a few hooks as well. But they are a fish you can catch all year round in estuaries and off headlands in NSW. Cheers scratchie!!!
  8. Nice feed of reds there Sam. It certainly is cold early morning but worth the effort! Cheers scratchie!!!
  9. G’day raiders, Managed a leave pass yesterday as all kids sports were cancelled on Friday. (What a shame). Anyway, headed out with Dom and Bevy. We hit seals early and the fishing was slow. No drift no swell and little current. This resulted in very little fish. Came back towards Broughton and dropped deep for a bit which was a donut! Moved back to more familiar territory and the hits started coming. Plenty of tuna busting up all around us but we were still focused on our snaps! We hit my go to spot and Bevy hooked up to what we initially thought was a good king but turned out to be a very plump snapper. Dom sight casted into a tuna bust up and landed a healthy macky on snapper gear and I managed a few pannies for the box. Add to that a couple of pearlies, a goaty, bonito and that was pretty much our day! For us the fishing was really slow but it was sublime conditions out there! Thanks for reading! Cheers scratchie!!!
  10. Cheers Luke! Don’t mind travelling for Fishraider!!
  11. Hmmm don’t tempt me!!! ?
  12. Please don’t quote me but I’m every chance to attend. It’s a 2hr drive but I’ll make every effort to get there! Would really enjoy catching up with some raiders and I’m very partial to Thai!
  13. Welcome to fishraider David! There’s plenty of knowledge and experience on this site! Pose any fishing related questions in the “fishing chat” section and I’m sure someone will have your answer! Cheers scratchie!!!
  14. Cheers BN. well, it sometimes is a daunting thought heading to the grounds at 430am pitch black. I haven’t hit one yet (touch wood). Nor would I like too. Such majestic creatures. We had a visit from two the on this day 30m off our bow! So we started the motor to let them know we were there!
  15. Nice work Pete! There’s definitely plenty of snapper on the chew. I was going to head out tomorrow but it is forecast 20 knot plus winds! I’m keen but not that keen. Might stay home and earn some brownie points! cheers scratchie!!!
  16. Well done young fella. You gotta be happy with that. Congrats on your pb! Cheers scratchie!!!
  17. Berley is best used as a steady stream unless offshore where cubing has its purpose. The idea is to attract the little fish which inturn attracts the big fish. I don’t often berley for jewfish but kings seem to respond well to it. I agree with connico that once sharks are present, it’s very hard to shooo them away! Good luck cheers scratchie!!!
  18. That’s a very broad question flathead Guy! More information is needed if your looking for some positive feedback. What area? Land based or boat? Etc Etc Cheers scratchie!!!
  19. I’m hearing baz! Every chance of catching bass and eps up there too!
